Lindsey Boylan, a former aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, says she resigned in 2018 after he forcibly kissed her during a meeting.
Boylan — who is running for Manhattan Borough President — had previously accused Cuomo of repeated harassment, but she didn’t offer many details until she published a Medium post on Wednesday.
“My boss soon informed me that the Governor had a ‘crush’ on me,” Boylan wrote. “It was an uncomfortable but all-too-familiar feeling: the struggle to be taken seriously by a powerful man who tied my worth to my body and my appearance.”
Boylan alleged that Cuomo had compared her to a former girlfriend, and asked her to play strip poker. “Telling my truth isn’t about seeking revenge. I was proud to work in the Cuomo Administration. For so long I had looked up to the Governor. But his abusive behavior needs to stop,” she wrote.
The allegations come at a moment of political peril for the longtime governor, once a liberal darling for his Emmy-winning TV hits at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. He’s under fire for his handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes and clouded by allegations of bullying and strong-arming legislators, while a bipartisan group of state lawmakers are seeking to curb his emergency powers.
According to Boylan, the kiss occurred “after a one-on-one briefing with the Governor to update him on economic and infrastructure projects.”
“We were in his New York City office on Third Avenue. As I got up to leave and walk toward an open door, he stepped in front of me and kissed me on the lips,” she wrote.
After the kiss, Boylan said, she walked by the desk of a fellow Cuomo staffer, Stephanie Benton. Boylan’s Medium post also included a 2016 screenshot, purportedly from Benton, stating that the governor wanted Boylan to know she “could be sisters” with alleged Cuomo ex Lisa Shields, “except you’re the better-looking sister,” the screenshot read.
It seems to me that W.E.B. DuBois’s statement, “Either America will destroy ignorance or ignorance will destroy the United States,” takes on more resonance today than at any other time since he made that statement. What does it say about the country’s state when the wife of the most senior member of the Supreme court is a major player in the disinformation QAnnon conspiracy movement? At the bare minimum, it poses a serious conflict of interest that Ginny Thomas would be a major player in right-wing causes, some of which are so out of the mainstream they ought to be under Federal eyeballs. It bears mentioning that Clarence Thomas, an unapologetic right-wing judge, in his three decades on the Supreme Court, has ruled consistently in support of Republican causes. Regardless of a Judge’s politics, it is hard to reconcile that a judge would be as partisan as Clarence Thomas has been. Even the much-vaunted and idolized Antonin Scalia, the standard of right-wing jurisprudence, at times voted with the most liberal wing of the court. Not so with the insufferable Clarence Thomas. Among some of the most eyebrow-raising things that Clarence Thomas has done has been the dissenting & concurring opinions he has written and joined.
Clarence & Ginny Thomas
He dissented when the court invalidated the conviction of a black man tried six times for the same crime by the same prosecutor with juries that were either all white or nearly all white.
He called for overturning Gideon v. Wainwright, the 1963 landmark decision requiring that criminal defendants, too poor to pay for a lawyer, be provided an attorney paid for by the government.
In another first, he called for overturning the 1964 landmark freedom-of-the-press decision New York Times v. Sullivan, which set in place standards to make it more difficult for public figures to sue for libel without proof that falsehoods were knowingly published.
According to (npr.org), Clarence Thomas’s dissenting opinion on that landmark decision was not joined by a single member of the 9‑member court, but that it lined up conveniently with the worldview of Donald Trump. The late Justice Antonin Scalia did not have such a purist view (NPR posited); unlike Thomas, he did believe in precedent. As he famously put it, “I am an originalist, but I’m not a nut.”
“God bless each of you,’ Ginni Thomas wrote in a Facebook post to support the attempted takeover of the Capitol. In one post, she shared “LOVE” to the MAGA crowd, offering support and suggesting others tune in to the riot. In another Facebook status, she stated, in mostly all caps, “God bless each of you standing up or praying!”This is not her first time in the spotlight for supporting racism. (theGrio) reported Mrs. Thomas requested the mayor of Clifton, Virginia, to remove a Black Lives Matter banner in the town. Would you please remove the BLM sign from Clifton?” Thomas wrote to Holloway according to (theGrio). “As leaders of this community, you should be smarter than promoting such a group as this, who uses race to foment chaos to destabilize the nation.”
But Clarence and Ginny Thomas’s conflicts of interest are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the political right is allowed to get away with, even while pontificating about the fidelity of public bodies and institutions. Economic conservatism and fidelity to the constitution are only important when Republicans are out of office. As soon as Joe Biden won the 2020 election, it struck me that Republicans would return to the tired old fiscal conservatism arguments to harass the new Administration. They found their man in West Virginia to dilute the Democratic power in the Senate; that man is Joe Manchin. Joe Manchin has not flinched from playing ball in servitude to Mitch McConnell and the right-wing agenda, declaring opposition to the Biden economic stimulus’s size, a view in direct opposition to his own Governor’s, and declaring his opposition to a key Biden nominee to head the Office Of Management & Budget. That is not all; another clear sign that Manchin does not support the Democratic agenda is his public opposition to eliminating the Fillibuster. Manchin told CNN that he would oppose his party’s effort to get rid of the filibuster, a stall tactic frequently used by the Senate’s minority party, requiring 60 votes in the chamber to overcome. “That’s bullshit,” Manchin said. When asked about the Democratic push to eliminate the filibuster, he noted that he opposed the Democratic effort in 2013 to eliminate the filibuster on most presidential nominees. This means that to get the most basic aspect of his agenda passed, Biden will have to seek buy-in from Republicans, usually Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, or Lisa Murkowski, even on his cabinet nominees, essentially rendering the idea that a president is entitled to his cabinet moot. Who needs Republicans when there are Democrats like Joe Manchin?
It did not take long, with over half a million dead as a result of Donald Trump’s negligence and complicity for COVID-19, unemployment claims skyrocketing, and people in serious need of relief, Republicans en-masse has a serious problem with the Joe Biden $1.9 Trillion COVID relief plan, but had no problem with Donald Trump’s $2.3 Trillion giveaway to the richest 1% who did not need for it. To add insult to injury, Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, is against the package’s size and content while his Republican Governor is lobbying for the bill’s passage that would vastly benefit residents of that state. Additionally, Manchin is opposed to Joe Biden’s choice to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget, Neera Tanden, because of supposed mean tweets she made as president of the Center for American Progress, a think tank aligned with the Democratic establishment. It is laughable that Manchin wants to be a powerbroker in the 50 – 50 senate; he chooses the president’s cabinet pick and a woman of color, no less, as the hill on which he wants to take a stand. The hypocrite did not utter a single syllable in opposition to Donald Trump’s tweets that disparaged and demeaned every person who did not bow down to him. Both Mitt Romney of Utah and Susan Collins of Maine have indicated that neither of them will be supporting Tanden’s nomination.
Donald Trump & Joe Manchin. Manchin is trying to carve out a powerbroker position for himself, one which benefits his ruby-red state of West Virginia at the expense of holding the entire Democratic agenda hostage.
As if by some strange comedic joke by the Universe, Josh Hawley and Raphael Cruz are members of the Senate’s Judiciary Committee. The Judiciary committee is this week attending to the nomination of president Joe Biden’s nominee for Attorney General of the United States. To hear Josh Hawley and Raphael Cruz, the Senate point men for Trump’s big lie, “stop the steal,’ ask questions of Merrick Garland when they both should be locked away in Federal jail cells awaiting trial for seditious activities, has been just too much for me to stomach. In a nation of laws, neither Josh Hawley nor Raphael Cruz would have the opportunity, much less the temerity, to ask Judge Garland questions on the issues of fidelity to law and the constitution. Hawley and Cruz are co-conspirators, in my humble view, but the laws in America only work against the poor and powerless, and so they get to sit in judgment of people with character. I almost said the framers must be turning in their graves, then I stopped myself.….their behavior was nothing to brag about either, so there is that. And so we laugh at the spectacle of the criminals questioning the judge, Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson, putting into the record a letter supposedly written to him by some right-wing hack, detailing how the Trump insurrection crowd was peaceful and friendly until they were provoked and assaulted by the capitol police. The American people voted in extraordinary numbers to repudiate Donald Trump, his hateful & racist policies; true to form as they did in President Obama’s first term, Democrats are failing to forcefully apply the same strength and fortitude Republicans employ when they are in power. The steps Republicans are taking to make voting exponentially more difficult across multiple states are designed to negate the consequences of whites becoming a minority by 2045. If Democrats continue to allow this to happen, America will sink into despotism, the next strongman to occupy the White House (Josh Hawley), or whomever already has a blueprint on what to do to get there. In the end, preservation of white power in white men’s hands is what all this is about, that includes what Ginny Thomas and her husband are doing, to what Joe Manchin is doing in stopping people of color from holding powerful positions in the American government. It is time to restore a key element of the Voting Rights Act, stalled in the congress to honor civil rights icon John Lewis. Democrats have no excuse not to move this legislation to a vote immediately; let the nation see which Republican vote against it, then use the results against them in 2022.

Tiger Woods is in surgery after suffering “multiple leg injuries” in a car crash in Los Angeles, California.

The LA County Sheriff’s Department said that it “responded to a single-vehicle rollover” accident in which the “vehicle sustained major damage”. The 15-time golf major champion, 45, had to be “extricated from the wreck” by firefighters and paramedics. Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg said: “He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.” Steinberg confirmed the detail about the American having sustained “multiple leg injuries”. Woods was at the Riviera Country Club in LA at the weekend as host of the Genesis Invitational tournament.
A statement from the LA County Sheriff’s Department said it responded to the crash “on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes” on Tuesday morning local time. It added: “Mr Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.” The LA County Fire Department said:“Units dispatched at 07:22 and found a single-vehicle rollover. One adult male was assisted out of the vehicle and transported to a local area hospital in serious condition. World number three Justin Thomas is one of Woods’ best friends on the tour and expressed concern for his compatriot. “I’m sick to my stomach,” Thomas said. “You know, it hurts to see one of your… closest friends get in an accident. “Man, I just hope he’s all right. Just worry for his kids, you know. I’m sure they’re struggling.” A statement from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said: “We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery. “On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers.”
Woods was involved in a car crash in November 2009 which eventually led to admissions of infidelity and the breakdown of his marriage. He then took a break from golf but returned shortly afterward. Following five wins in 2013, Woods started just 24 events in the next four years because of chronic back pain and multiple surgeries. In 2017 Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence when he was found asleep at the wheel of his car. He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He had five prescription drugs in his system as he recovered from the spinal fusion surgery that ultimately gave him a second golfing career. Woods ended an 11-year wait for a major title when he won the Masters at Augusta in 2019. He jointly holds the record for most PGA Tour wins at 82 with Sam Snead and is three behind Jack Nicklaus’ mark of 18 major titles. Woods recently said he had hoped to play in this year’s Masters in April after having a fifth back surgery in January.
He ended 2019 sixth in golf’s world rankings but is now 50th. BBC golf correspondent Iain Carter told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Tiger Woods has had this extraordinary life which has had such massive highs on the golf course but some extraordinary lows in his personal life. “This is now a very serious situation for his career. “He was on American television on Sunday. A lot of observers were concerned at how hesitant he was about the nature of the progress that was being made in terms of his recovery and whether or not he would be fit for the Masters. “All thoughts of that now go completely out of the window and are no longer a priority.”
Speaking specifically to certain factions within the Black community that President Obama did nothing for the Black community, please watch the Senate judiciary committee hearings of Judge Merrick Garland for Attorney General. The attack on the Obama administration’s Justice Department by certain Republicans Raphael Cruz, John Cornyn, and others, and on former Attorney General Eric Holder is a testament to Obama’s commitment to the Black community. For the feeble-minded who continue to expect that a Black President’s greatness is how many checks he mailed out to them, please be educated on the facts. I have always believed that President Obama’s greatest accomplishments related to the Black community have been what he could do in the Holder Justice Department. As part of shaking up the entrenched racial disparities, then-Attorney General Eric Holder, was held in contempt of Congress by an antagonistic Republican-controlled Senate that hated what the AG was doing. Then-Attorney General Holder also had his name on the supreme court decision Holder vs. Shelby County Alabama, legislation in which the Supreme court eviscerated sections of the voting rights Act. When we juxtapose what President Obama did, with Judge Garland’s questioning by Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, a crystal clear image emerges of where Republicans stand on the rights of African-Americans.
I had a rather contentious conversation with a young Jamaican preacher, who claims to be a Republican over the weekend. He wanted to know what political party I supported; I answered certainly not the lying Republican cult that represents hated and division, that lies as a matter of course, and wants to destroy Democracy. He claimed to oppose the Democrats because of the 1994 Violent Crime and Law Enforcement Act, otherwise, known as the Clinton Crime bill). In typical Jamaican fashion, the young preacher acted under the belief that those who speak the loudest were the ones who are right. His style of communicating was asking a question without allowing for an answer. Asking what he thought was a knock-out question was more than a question; it was the point for him. When confronted with documentary evidence that the 90’s crime bill was sought by black law-makers, black clergy, supported by both political parties, and was a response to the rampant killings in the Black community, he did not want to see the evidence. As I said before, asking the question was his point, because I had preemptively disarmed him of the ability to use Religion and hatred of Gays as a reason to lash out against the Obama administration.

Did I mention he passed health care reform? I have no idea what the characteristics of a great American President are; what I do know is that, all things considered, Barack Obama comes pretty damn close, in my opinion. It is pretty easy to criticize our own, who have done things we could never dream of doing, while supporting those who would rather see us back on the plantation. We all have a right to support who and whatever we want to under the law. But when we chose to disparage a person or a political party to justify our shameful actions, we should at least get our facts straight. Truth does still matter.

We talk about this often, the people who vote for the Republican party, in the red states, despite the lies the party tells them, despite the votes they take against their voter’s interests. Voters in red states continue to vote for the party, which gives tax breaks to the richest Americans but refuses to give them the most basic relief when they need it. Republican leadership in Texas turned their backs on federal money that would expand Medicaid in the state benefiting millions of people unable to get health care. Texas is now under severe cold weather; people are dying from cold, carbon monoxide poisoning, and struggling to find clean drinking water. Fires rage while fire departments revert to archaic trucking of water to try to put out blazes because the water in the hydrants is frozen solid. Why has Texas a state that talks about seceding in such desperate shape? Texas Republicans are wedded to the oil industry, which is basically their bosses. Powerful oil bosses do not want federal regulators telling them that they must adopt common-sense guidelines, so they refused to be attached to the national grid. The grid failed, and now there is no backup.
This grandstanding fraud Raphael Cruz fled to Mexico while the poor in his state freeze to death. These are the fraud that makes up the Republican seditionist political party.
Despite their suffering, come election time, voters in Texas will once again vote for the plutocrats who continue to demonstrate to them that they do not matter. And while we are on the subject, what about the fraudulent Raphael Cruz? Lying Raphael loves to grandstand and talk about the constitution. He loves to grandstand about the love of country and the American people, but its huckster was on a plane to Cancun as soon as a little hard time arrived. When the lying fraud was spotted in Cancun relaxing, he hightailed it back to Texas and threw his daughter on the bus, claiming that he took the vocation because of her. What a fraud.
The remarkable thing, is that the New York Times obtained text messages made by Raphael’s wife, Heid Cruz, promoting the trip. According to the Huffington Post, the report contradicted Cruz’s flimsy claim that he was merely granting his daughters’ wish for a vacation with their friends and was accompanying them when the family jetted off to Cancun this week. He later conceded he had planned to stay through the weekend, but Heidi Cruz’s messages to pals seemed to indicate a grander getaway. “Anyone can or want to leave for the week?” Cruz, a managing director at Wall Street bank Goldman Sachs, wrote in a group text. “We may go to Cancún.” She mentioned a Wednesday afternoon departure and a Sunday return from a stay at the posh Ritz-Carlton on the beach, where she said she has lodged “many times,” according to The Times.
No one begrudges anyone a vacation, but Raphael Cruz is not only a public servant; he is a self-promoting grandiose perfectionist, who pretends to love the country more than other Americans. His responsibility to the people across the state of Texas who voted him into office, and who deserve representation at this critical juncture, deserved more than what that self-aggrandizing fraud gave. When the chips were down, he ran away to the comforts of a five-star vacation spot leaving his people to fend for themselves. Imagine the hoopla that bloviating idiot would have created if a high-level Democratic politician from that state had done the same thing?

His name was Ewart Beckford but to the tens of thousands of us who grew up on his toasting, no one knew who Ewart Beckford was, to us he was Daddy Roy, or U‑Roy. The art of toasting began with DJs talking over the record playing on the sound systems, today we know the toaster as Disc Jockeys (DJs). To young dance hall goers like myself, Daddy Roy was the best of the best, the crème de la crème of dancehall disc jockeys.
I will leave the comments to those who knew him intimately, sufficing to say that his music was the soundtrack to many of our lives. He will forever be recognized as one of the greatest of Jamaica’s musical pioneers. He is irreplaceable and will be sadly missed.
I wanted to wait for a while before saying anything about the passing of one of the most vapidly toxic figures to influence our national discourse. I speak of Rush Limbaugh, the insidious bigot who passed away days ago at 70 after a battle with lung cancer. But the hypocrisy of the media in not describing Limbaugh in the way he deserves, prompted me to break my silence. Despite the hate, misogyny, and xenophobia that Limbaugh represented, the mainstream media gushes over him as if he was someone who left a legacy of good. God is still working on me, so I still pray that he continues to lead me onto the path he wants me to trod, like the new testament teachings, which ask me to be of pious supplicancy. One who turns the other cheek when my enemy spitefully assaults me, love them, and be good to them? Or follow the Old Testament teachings, honoring warriors like David who asked God to deliver his enemies into his hands, slew them, and progressed. Rush Limbaugh must be remembered for what he truly was, a cancer. But we must also take note of those who enabled him, The media houses that gave him the platform to spew the garbage he did, so that they could rake in the profits from his decades of preaching hate.
Criticize me all you want, but since he is not finished with me yet, I will shed not one drop of tear for an insufferable bigot whose passing left the world a better place today, than it was before he died. I refuse to play nice to a glorified clown who used the public airwaves to sow hatred and division, turning neighbors against neighbors, making Americans see their fellow Americans not as people who disagree on principle, but as enemies to be reviled and hated. If refusing to be deferential to that kind of insidious trash is a vice, color me the new viceroy. Rush Limbaugh built an empire on hatred and division; at the very best, Rush Limbaugh was nothing more than a demagogue with a microphone, a wannabe comedian who was everything but funny. It was no surprise that Donald Trump rose to the presidency on the hatred and division that Limbaugh perpetuated and promulgated. It was no surprise that Trump, another racial demagogue saw fit to bestow the presidential medal of freedom on Limbaugh. So much for the value of those going forward.
Limbaugh died, leaving a massive fortune, reportedly to the tune of $600 million, derived from spreading hatred for everyone who wasn’t white and male. He couldn’t take a penny with him, neither could it save him, which brings to mind, Matthew 16-26, Yeshua asked, what good it is for a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? Limbaugh is gone, never to be heard from again, but the seeds of hatred and division he left behind will be hard to erase, if ever at all. His seeds of hatred all but splintered the country, pitting brothers against brothers, sister against sister, parents against children, children against their parents, and neighbor against neighbor. Again here we see the word of God manifesting right in front of our eyes, in plain sight, yet we ignore it. Mark 13 ‑12, “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
Rush Limbaugh’s life was about stirring up hatred and division, sowing lies and discord; it resulted in the rise of the king of lies and disinformation to the highest executive office, and we have seen how that turned out. Limbaugh’s campaign of deceit included spreading lies that Barack Obama was not an American. He told his listeners that the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) would result in death panels; they gobbled it up. He argued with a black caller to his show, telling him quote; “take that bone out of your nose and call me back.” He asked his listeners if they ever noticed that all composite sketches of wanted criminals looked like the Reverend Jesse Jackson. He invited a guest on-air who sang “Barack, the Magic Negro” to the tune of “Puff, the Magic Dragon.” In 2016, he read an essay on air that a well-known white supremacist had penned. He labeled Feminist women ‘Feminazis’. While speaking about the genocide of America’s indigenous peoples, Limbaugh said, “Holocaust 90 million Indians? Only 4 million left? They all have casinos; what’s to complain about?”(salon)
Limbaugh frequently mirrored white nationalist talking points when discussing Latino immigrants, whom he described as lazy and dependent on the government. He called migrants at America’s southern border an “invasion.” He denigrated Gays and Lesbians,’ the best way to stop the spread of the virus was to “not ask another man to bend over and make love at the exit point,” he asserted. This guy was nothing but a blight, a poison, cancer to the body politic, one that metastasized and inexorable resulted in Donald Trump and, worse, the storming of the nation’s citadel of legislative power. The death of this guy is a blessing; no one should pretend to show deference to such a vile creature, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that the world is a better place today, than it was with him here. We were all victims of his hate; those who disagreed with his vile doctrine, and those who agreed with him are equal victims who now need redemption. May God save their souls before it becomes too late for them too.?

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that Jamaica’s national curfew would start at 8 p.m., effective Wednesday, February 10. The measure will remain in effect for a period of at least two weeks. The announcement came shortly after Jamaica recorded six consecutive days of record-high COVID-19 cases. Mr. Holness said the situation is serious, a cause for concern, and requires a government response. Mr. Holness also noted the effect the curfew will have on the economy, saying: “If the numbers settle, then we will go back to either 9 or 10 [p.m]. It is not the objective of the government to kill commerce. “We do this very reluctantly but having great regard to the fact that if we don’t act, now, we could overwhelm our health system, which leads to either greater problems.” The gathering limit has also been reduced from 15 persons to 10. Cops really seem to hate the idea of police disciplinary records being made public. If a civilian has a criminal record, courts, potential employers, renters and others would be able to access that information through the simplest of background checks, but for some reason, police officers appear to think that putting on the uniform should shield them from such scrutiny. “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about,” is logic that only seems to apply to people on the receiving end of police work, not so much for officers themselves.
On Tuesday, a federal appeals court in New York dealt a blow to police unions by, well, ruling in favor of police transparency and accountability by allowing for NYC to release “hundreds of thousands of police disciplinary records, a major milestone in a long and bitter political battle to open the records to public scrutiny,” the New York Times reports.
Mayor Bill de Blasio didn’t give a specific timeframe for when the records would be made public, but he said, “We look forward to releasing this data,” and that his office would “seek clarity” from the court as to when the process of releasing those records could begin.
Police officers and “back the blue” enthusiasts are going to feel however they’re going to feel about the ruling — which also extends to firefighters and corrections officers — but for activists, civil liberties groups and anyone else who thinks having access to a police officer’s report card is beneficial to society, this is, at the very least, a small victory.
From the Times:
For decades, the disciplinary records of police officers in New York were shielded from public disclosure by the state’s civil rights law. Then, in June, the State Legislature repealed the section of the law, known as 50‑a, that had kept such records confidential.
The repeal was part of a package of legislative changes aimed at reducing police misconduct in the wake of the killing of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, which had ignited nationwide protests against police brutality.
“For the past seven years, we’ve fundamentally changed how we police our city, strengthening the bonds between communities and the officers who serve them,” Mr. de Blasio said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Now, we can go even further to restore accountability and trust to the disciplinary process,” he said. “Good riddance to 50‑a.”
Of course, the unions that sued to keep police brutality police records sealed aren’t happy with the Tuesday ruling and they, apparently, are not willing to give up the fight for police to be able to do whatever the fuck they want without the public knowing shit police privacy.
“Today’s ruling does not end our fight to protect our members’ safety and due process rights,” Hank Sheinkopf, a spokesperson for the coalition of unions, said.
More from the Times:
The order by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld a lower-court ruling and addressed complaints raised by the unions, including the fear that the disclosures could heighten the risks for police officers.
“We fully and unequivocally respect the dangers and risks police officers face every day,” the panel said. “But we cannot say that the District Court abused its discretion when it determined that the unions have not sufficiently demonstrated that those dangers and risks are likely to increase because of the city’s planned disclosures.”
Again, if cops are going to argue — without sufficient evidence — that public viewing of their records puts them at risk, then that energy should be kept for everyone’s records. But we need to know about the backgrounds of teachers, politicians, counselors, physicians, retail workers, servers, babysitters, blind dates — literally anyone who wants to do anything that affects the general public. So why not police?
If policing is such an important job, then police transparency is just as important as it is for everyone else.
American racial segregation was not a thing until white planters realized that the Black enslaved population and the white bonds people and the general population of poor whites who lived around plantations large and small, operated peaceably together. This was a problem that was antithetical to their long-term goals. Divide and conquer were established. Perhaps the best characterization of that period I have seen is from (Conditions of Antebellum Slavery) by PBS. Fully 3⁄4 of Southern whites did not even own slaves; of those who did, 88% owned 20 or fewer. Whites who did not own slaves were primarily yeoman farmers. Practically speaking, the institution of slavery did not help these people.[sic] I’m afraid I have to disagree that they did not benefit, nevertheless let us continue. And yet, many non-slave-owning white Southerners identified with, and defended the institution of slavery. Though many resented the large slaveholders’ wealth and power, they aspired to own slaves themselves, and join the privileged Ranks’. Also, slavery gave the poor white farmers a group of people to feel superior to. (They may have been poor, but they were not slaves, and they were not black. They gained a sense of power simply by being white). The power and privilege they gained would become a significant currency that probably exceeds any other derivative form they could have acquired, hence my disagreement with the quote.
Vice President Kamala Harris
“Having someone to feel superior to.”, elements of that mental manipulation still guides the thinking of many whites today. The continuation of that mindset has continued to impoverish whites across the South and other parts of the country, while those not so constrained by racial hatred have been making phenomenal strides, including recently formed immigrant communities. Nowhere is this more evidenced than in the so-called red states, or should I say the former slave states? Poorer, than the rest of the nation, yet they continue to vote their color instead of for policies that would benefit them and inexorably empower and lift them out of poverty. As they do so, first-generation Americans soar to power and leadership positions, even within their own Republican party. Colin Powell, former four-star General, chairman of the joint chiefs, former secretary of state, Nicky Haley, former Governor of South Carolina. Bobby Jindal, former Governor of Louisiana, Alejandro Mayorkas Homeland Security Secretary, et al. But none more consequential than the groundbreaking Kamala Harris, first woman, the first woman of color to be Vice President of the United States. The list is long and varied; it is not confined to those well known politically; first-generation Americans are making huge strides in technology, business, medicine, and many other areas, taking full advantage of the American experience, the American opportunities, despite the barriers and challenges…
Instead of changing course, changing their mindset from the misinformation fed them, many whites continue down the path of hatred and grievance. The immigrants are taking their jobs; “Oh, so you didn’t bother going to college, but the tech-engineer took your job? The sense of hatred is so palpable that they chose a failed con-man to be their president rather than an imminently qualified woman. Make no mistake about it; what drives them is hatred, period! They are voracious consumers of misinformation, which confirms their hatred and insecurities. Racial demagogues like the recently deceased Rush Limbaugh made tons of money feeding them the hatred he knew they would clamor for. They elected Donald Trump another demagogue, and he wanted them to know that he could out racist- the vilest racists. Wherever racist causes were, Trump made sure to support them. In the end, Donald Trump bestowed upon Rush Limbaugh the presidential medal of freedom. The deep affection they feel and declare for Donald Trump has nothing to do with Trump’s per se. What they honor and adore is that someone in a position of power supports the cause. For them, an unabashed racist demagogue who doesn’t have the common sense to know better, or the intellectual maturity to want to do better was exactly what they wanted all along. If he were ever to stop being that, they would dump him in a minute. Even as the world moves on, leaving them behind, they cling to the misguided ideas of white superiority planted in the heads of their ancestors hundreds of years ago to keep them in check. Today, they see their worth in their whiteness. And so, in their world of blindness, a one-eyed racialist is the perfect choice to be king.

I am not going to speak to the lies Republicans told themselves that they were the party of law & order; everyone knew that was a lie. What I will do is try to do a little expose‘ on Republican lies and hypocrisy. For decades Republicans like Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Herbert Walker Bush, and Donald Trump ran as law and order candidates. You may have noticed that I left out George Bush, who served two terms between 2000 & 2008. To his credit, George Bush did not make any claim to be much of anything but a goofball, at least not until the attacks of September 2001. Thereafter, Bush made himself a wartime president; those wars are still in effect today.
J Edgar Hoover
The Republican claim of being the law & order party was what is called a dog whistle. If you understand that brutalizing, locking away, and killing blacks has been government policy after the so-called emancipation declaration, you begin to understand better, how running as a law & order candidate means brutalizing, locking away, and killing African-Americans. It is coded language to whites, particularly in the South, what kind of public official they will be. Some Republican candidates for president, irrespective of where they are from, launch their presidential campaigns from the deep South. It was no surprise then, that the most ignorant racist to run and occupy the presidency in modern history ran as a law & order candidate. No other American war has been waged with more savagery and fervor than the FBI’s war against African-Americans. and black civil-rights leaders under Director J Edgar Hoover. Hoover’s paranoia that America would be attacked and destroyed by communists and gays is well documented, but his racist obsession with civil rights leaders was even more chilling.
Hoover and his FBI waged a relentless war against the Black Panthers and other civil rights organizations and their members including Dr. Martin Luther King.
In a February 11th article, the Daily Beast, Jeffery Ogbar wrote; (On March 8, 1971, an anti-war activist group, the Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI, broke into an FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania where they discovered a cache of classified documents, many bearing the cryptic code “COINTELPRO.” They leaked the documents to the press. On March 24, 1971, The Washington Post ran a cover story on the FBI’s vast program in 1956 to neutralize suspicious persons and organizations. Although initially formed to target the Communist Party U.S.A., it was quickly expanded to include a wide range of groups considered “subversive.” No segment had been as central to COINTELPRO operations as civil rights activists. However, a broader scope of the FBI’s actions was unknown until Congressional hearings five years later. What came to light was exceptionally chilling — seeped in its own racism, without any checks or balances, the FBI devoted more resources to harming the Civil Rights movement than any other task in its purview.)
J Edgar Hoover recruited blacks to infiltrate civil rights organizations, including Earnest Withers, a celebrated photographer who had access to private meetings of the movement. Whithers then dutifully reported back to Hoover on what he had learned. William O’Neil, a petty criminal, was recruited and used to infiltrate the Black Panther Party. O’Neil’s treachery resulted in the FBI& local police reportedly assassinating the 21-year-old Fred Hampton as he lay sleeping, allegedly drugged, by the same William O’Neil on the directive of his handlers in the FBI. While terrorism has been a part of American culture from the beginning of this experiment, it was never viewed as a problem because the terror was directed at the people America despised and hated. For those reasons, the Ku Klux Klan is not a terrorist organization, but Republicans want the splintered Anti-Fascist protestors (ANTIFA) designated a Terrorist group.
William O’Neil
Asked about actions in helping the FBI to set up and assassinate Fred Hampton, Oniel said the following; I didn’t feel like I had done anything. I didn’t walk in there with guns. I didn’t shoot him. FBI didn’t do it. I felt somewhat like I was betrayed. I felt like if anyone should have known it was going to be a raid that morning, I should have known, also. I felt like I could have been caught in that raid. I was there that night, and I felt like if I’d have laid down, I probably would have been a victim, so I felt betrayed, I felt like, I felt like I was expendable. I felt like, like perhaps I was on the wrong side. Yeah, yeah, I had my misgivings. I’m not going to, I, no, I’m not going to sit here now and take responsibility for the raid, you know, I’m not going to do that. I didn’t pull the trigger. I didn’t issue the warrant. I didn’t put the guns in the apartment. So I’m not going to take responsibility for that, but I do feel like I was betrayed. I felt like I should have known the raid was coming down. I felt like it was probably excessive. You know, I felt like it was a surgical strike, you know, and I was really angry for quite a few days. Quite a few days. O’Neil would die in 1990 as he ran across the Eisenhower expressway on Dr. King’s birthday. The medical examiner ruled his death a suicide. I guess the universe does pay attention.
Withers reportedly violated the trust of leaders like Dr. King, who gave him unencumbered access to movement plans and activities.
No one knows exactly how many black people the Klan murdered throughout its history, possibly hundreds of thousands considering that Klansmen were/are judges, police officers, grocers, farmers, bankers, and every other category of workers. The killings were made through lynchings, shootings, bombings, and other heinous acts, including James Byrd Jr’s dragging death in Jasper, Texas, over two decades ago. We do not know how many may have been killed because they saw the wrong Doctor, the wrong nurse, was arrested by the wrong cop,( literally every cop was the wrong cop)eating at the wrong restaurant? Organizations that have done far less have been designated Terrorist groups. Yet, in the United States, white terror is such an accepted reality that there is no Federal Domestic terror statute.
The Klan’s activities continue today, despite the third Ku Klux Klan Act, Civil Rights Act of 1871, or Force Act of 1871. With the passage of the Third Force Act, popularly known as the Ku Klux Act, Congress authorized President Ulysses S. Grant to declare martial law, impose heavy penalties against terrorist organizations, and use military force to suppress them; Klux Klan (KKK). (History.com) In 1882, the U.S. Supreme Court declared the Ku Klux Act unconstitutional, but by that time, Reconstruction had ended, and much of the KKK had faded away, or so they thought. That was then; no one believes today that the Ku Klux Klan has faded away. However, the Klan is the least of America’s worries at the moment; the FBI and other intelligence agencies have repeatedly warned that domestic white supremacist groups pose the gravest danger to America’s national security.
Ron Johnson
Since there has been no sense of urgency to deal with homegrown terrorism, white terrorism has flourished in the United States. Using the Constitution’s language on local militias and the 2nd amendment, which protects gun rights, violent racist militias have been allowed to expand their operations across the country. Their supporters in Congress have been able to operate out in the open, by pretending to be gun-rights advocates; when they are truly full-fledged white supremacist supporters. It has been that support for white supremacist terror groups why capitol insurrectionists could storm the US Capitol and parade the racist flag of white supremacy. For those reasons, WisconsinUS Senator Ron Johnsondeclared that the Capitol mob were not armed insurrectionists. Never mind that five of their own people died, one police officer was killed and scores more seriously injured by the neanderthal horde who were armed with guns, baseball bats, hockey sticks, flagpoles, chemical irritants, and other weapons. The hypocrisy of Ron Johnsonand others like him should not be allowed to slide. These clowns declare police justified in using lethal force on unarmed people of color. Still, when it comes to the raging lunatic mob of white traitors, they make excuses and trivialize the seriousness of their crimes.
Timothy McVeigh
Violent white supremacists militia groups have not been treated with the seriousness they should be; this led to killing many people, whites included. Timothy McVeigh, a military veteran, destroyed the Edward R Murrow Federal building in 1995, killing 168 Americans and injuring 680 others. The bombing remains the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in US history. Timothy McVeigh was eventually executed, but the damage was already done. Killing him could not unring the bell. Investigators have reported that a disproportionate number of those arrested after the Capitol breach of January 6th, 2021 were either past or serving military and police members. The coddling of violent white extremist individuals and groups continues to result in the murder of innocent Americans of all stripes. In the 2019 El Paso massacre, the white shooter, a 21-year old from Allen, Texas, claimed in a manifesto that he was acting to protect whites in America from “cultural and ethnic replacement” brought on by “the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”He allegedly allowed people who did not look like Mexicans to go free; then, he summarily massacred those who were the enemies in his mind.
[The shooter’s alt-right writings including excerpts and names of individuals and groups who claim to be fighting against the “Great Replacement,” as one of their leaders calls the purported threat of “white genocide” around the world. Followers of this conspiracy theory aim to create a neo-fascist “ethnostate” where at least 90 percent of inhabitants are white. Their proposed program will be carried out by draconian border enforcement measures that will deter future migration, mass deportations, the revocation of birthright citizenship, and purging nonwhite children (who represent the greatest threat to the disappearance of the white race). According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, massacres like the one in El Paso are part of a strategy these extremist groups call “accelerationism,” the idea that the deliberate spread of terror is necessary to eliminate non-whites from this country.](Texas Observer) The white supremacist group, the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, and the phalanx of other Neo-Nazi losers all subscribe to this racist ideology, and in Congress, there is support for it. In many State Legislatures across the country, draft legislation and laws passed reflect those xenophobic and racist ideologies. Proponents of those laws may not openly declare their intent when drafting and passing such legislation, but we know their intentions.
The challenge now for authorities is how to deal with the monster they allowed to grow because they did not think that these terrorists would endanger them. Law-enforcement officers, some of whom are members and sympathizers of white nationalists groups, played footsie with their members. Believing they had found allies against the hated black people struggling for freedom from police violence and institutionalized racism manifested through brutal and murderous police departments. Many were unwittingly duped by the so-called back the blue campaignthey waged against Black Lives Matter protestors, peaceably protesting for racial justice. It was a strategic ruse designed to placate and pacify police, many of whom are anti-black, to begin with. When the rubber meets the road, they made it clear that they did not care about the blue, particularly if the blue would not allow them to achieve their blood lust.

OFFICERSEXPRESSEDREGRETOVERNOTSTOMPINGANDGASSING A GROUPOFPEOPLEARRESTEDFORPROTESTINGINOCTOBER.
Officers in Phoenix, Arizona were caught via their own body cameras discussing regret over failing to commit acts of brutality against Black Lives Matter protesters during arrests last October. After arresting 18 members of BLM, three Arizona officers sat in a squad car questioning why “they hadn’t trampled the group and doused them in pepper spray,” according to The Washington Post. “Why didn’t we just stomp on them when they were leaving?” one officer can be heard asking. Another officer said they should, “just gas them and let them run like crazy.” Arizona Police Chief Jeri Williams promised “swift and decisive disciplinary action,” and described the officers involved as disrespectful. Williams has so far not revealed what that discipline may look like.
According to The Post, just hours after the body-cam footage was released, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced that it would dismiss charges against 15 of the protesters who were arrested on October 17, 2020. The protesters were facing a number of charges, including rioting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest. Phoenix prosecutors also filed gang-related charges against the protesters. An officer explained that, although they were not in a gang, the protesters faced gang charges because they chanted “all cops are b — — ,” and most of them wore black and carried umbrellas.
Chief Williams said the department is going to undergo reform in order to prevent another incident like this one from occurring again. “I have been and will continue to be an advocate of the amazing work done in this department each day,” she said in a statement. “However, I know that unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate behavior from even one of our officers tarnishes the badge, but more importantly, it hurts the community we have sworn to protect.”
Yesterday I teased out a prelude to what I would be writing about today; I took the liberty to posit that Donald J Trump will not be competing for the presidency again, even though he will continue to pretend to be a major player in the Republican party in the future.
Separate and apart from the potential legal entanglement that Donald Trump may be facing in Georgia and New York, there is still a lot we don’t know that may come out of the justice department after a new DOJ head is sworn in and all the evidence that William Barr suppressed is looked at with a critical eye. From all indications, Trump’s properties are not doing well financially; in fact, some reports indicate some of his properties are bleeding cash profusely. Many of the sweet deals that Trump had, for example, with New York City, have dried up as the de Blasio Administration has stopped doing business with Trump. Trump will find it difficult to find banks willing to do business with him going forward, and those that did are trying desperately to extricate themselves from him. In the hundreds of millions of dollars that will become due in the next year or two, Trump has massive loans. Those loans were personally guaranteed. Donald Trump is no longer in office, and so Banks will be less hesitant about going after him and his properties to retrieve their money.
Soon enough, there will be an avalanche of lawsuits facing Trump, and he will find himself fending them off left, right, and center. The Fulton County District Attorney had indicated that she had opened a probe to determine whether Donald Trump broke Georgia’s election laws when he called the Secretary of State demanding that he find him the votes he needed to overturn the results in that state and declare him the winner. In New York, Trump is under probe for potential tax law violations; there are allegations that Donald Trump inflated his assets’ value to secure better loans. Additionally, Trump faces potential felony charges for the insurrection he instigated on January 6th. He also faces legal jeopardy for defamation for his lying attacks on the Dominion, the maker of voting machines used only in one county in California.
Conventional wisdom would suggest that Trump would likely seek elective office to get the power position back to ward off some of the legal challenges he faces. However, it was the same elevation to the power position that exposed him to all of the legal woes he now faces. The potential challenges he faces may have had something to do with his refusal to relinquish power after losing the 2020 elections. It was always my view that he wanted to remain in office at all costs, hoping that most of those legal obstacles would disappear based on the statute of limitations laws. Donald Trump, the [winner] (sic), managed to lose the presidency, the US House & the US Senate, all in the space of a four-year term. As evidenced in his senate floor diatribe after he voted to acquit him of his crimes, Mitch McConnell’s palpable anger at him speaks volumes. The idea that Donald Trump is a winner is a reality only to those with their heads buried deep in the sands of unreality. The number one question for Trump is whether to run and not make it further than the Republican primaries and be roundly repudiated again? For the Republican party itself, the party also has to self-examine; Republican voters are fleeing the party in droves, as reported by Republican officials across the country, including in critical states for the Republicans like Georgia and Arizona.
Probably the most significant blow to Donald Trump is that he has been de-platformed by Twitter and Facebook. Twitter has permanently banned him. Without the ability to sow discord and demagogic lies using social media, Donald Trump is nothing. Trump was never about anything substantive; his entire life from childhood to the present day has been one big lie. Without the established platforms from which to spout lies and hatred, Donald Trump is an insignificant troll that has been a colossal failure. I believe that given a few months, the bitter taste of Donald Trump will begin to fade from our collective psyche and none too soon.

In my next article, I will explain why I believe Donald Trump will not run for the presidency ever again, putting to rest the fears Democrats and others harbor that he could return to the presidency maybe as soon as 2024.
Republicans do not play by the rules of the game. We have a nation, albeit a mighty country, now in decline, because one political party has taken the position that the principles on which the republic was formed are no longer sustainable in maintaining white supremacy as a bedrock. Therefore it cannot and will not adhere to the established rules that have guided the Republic for almost two and one-half centuries. My friend made an excellent point today. “How can members of the Republican caucus advance the argument that the second impeachment of Donald Trump was unconstitutional, when the body itself answered that question in the affirmative, it is constitutional to try Donald Trump after he is out of office. In practical terms, Donald Trump was impeached while he was in office. It was then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who refused to call the Senate back into session to hold the trial.
It is the height of hypocrisy and lies that members of the Republican caucus would then turn around and make the fraudulent argument that Trump was out of office, and therefore he is outside the senate’s scope. The vote on the constitutionality of whether the trial could proceed is now precedent for the ages. Republicans cannot have their cake and eat it too. Rules by which the country operates cannot only apply to Democrats while Republicans do as they please. Those kinds of games cannot be allowed to continue. Mitch Mcconnell and his caucus pulled off the same fraudulent stunt when they refused to give advice and consent to seat Judge Merrick Garland using rules they dredged up, then turned right around and discarded them, then fill two supreme court seats as a result of that act of deception.
As soon as they had a Republican in the white house, those same rules were thrown out, and a Republican hack was seated in one-quarter of the eight months, which was the length of time between when Obama nominated Merrick Garland and the elections of 2016. It is time for the Democratic Party to start playing hardball. If the Democratic Party refuses to stand up for the majority of the American people against this insurgency of deceit and deception by a white minority, it will find itself facing the prospect of an insurgent party emerging on its left flank. A serious look at the Republican Senators who voted to let Donald Trump off the hook a second time, reveals that because of the two US senators per state rule, the majority of the American people are being governed and ruled by the white minority in flyover country.
Let there be no mistake about what’s at stake here; the dark disinformation and lies that have clouded America in the five years since Donald Trump fully emerged on the political scene were designed specifically to wage war on truth to strengthen America’s racist past. From the moment that Donald Trump and his wife started the birther campaign against Candidate Obama in 2008, along with the other bottom-feeding crustaceans in the Republican party, to the video presentations by his lawyers in his second impeachment trial, the visual messaging and verbal tropes were decidedly anti-black and pro-white supremacy. One notable thing that became evident long before Donald Trump was elected President was the emergence of new people into the political process. The mainstream media reported this phenomenon; pundits could not decide what it would mean for the 2016 presidential cycle. As the process dragged on, it became clearer that those people were flocking to Donald Trump’s campaign rallies; in many instances, while Hillary Clinton was absent from the campaign trail, Trump was everywhere he could land his jet with the word Trump emblazoned across it, there he would have large raucous, racist rallies, where he would juice them up with incendiary rhetoric then encourage them to beat up people that did not look like them, or opposes their point of view.
Those people were white, older, largely working-class, bearing a whole litany of grievances. They talked about education and science as if they were things to be shunned. They talked about racist accountability as people speaking their minds. Trump’s outwardly vulgar racism did not cause them to recoil; it galvanized them into a cult, that even the unintelligent Trump knew he could manipulate in whatever way he chooses. Trump then bragged that he could shoot someone on [fifth avenue] and not lose a single vote. That arrogance would cause Donald Trump to commit yet untold crimes against the country and untold individuals. It would lead him to the dubious distinction of being the only president to be impeached twice. (never mind in a single term). The voter base Trump quickly put together with his inflammatory racist, xenophobic, anti-immigrant rhetoric was older; many admitted to reporters that they had not voted in years before Trump’s emergence. Trump’s message of making America great again was not new; it was one that Republican presidential candidates as far back as Richard Nixon had used in their campaigns. But coming from Donald Trump it took on new meaning, Donald Trump did and said everything to cause them to believe he was the first white president, the most openly racist person to ever seek the presidency. That was no easy task, most of the men who had previously been president, Democrats, and Republicans alike, literally became President because they were vile racists. Outside of that, Trump’s rhetoric was waging trade wars on China, banning Muslims, law, and order, and other caustic issues were, in fact, the coded language of white supremacy.
Polling those people resulted in results that were far from what was really happening at the time. Clinton led in the polls, but Trump supporters lied, and their lies skewed polling results. Despite the evidence of Trump’s misogyny, they turned their heads away and laughed it off as, quote; “a nothing burger.” Right-wing Christian Conservative preachers who previously stood in pompous unrighteous judgment over everything President Obama stood for, were all of a sudden servile supplicants to a philandering racist pussy-grabber who had unprotected sex with a prostitute while his wife was home with the young child she had just given birth to. Suddenly, the racist apostates, Hagee, Graham, Robertson, and the other right-wing heretics, were all in with the New York con-man who was going to save America. But it was the yard signs which gave it away for me. Driving from New York through the backroads of route 81 down to South Carolina. All through (Hicksville) Trump yard signs littered literally every yard. Yard signs are probably the least scientific of measurements to get a feel for the people’s pulse, but are probably the most effective at capturing public sentiment. People do not have signs they disagree with on their property; it simply doesn’t happen.
The final vote in the second senate trial of Donald Trump, 57 – 43, was not enough to convict and prevent him from holding public office ever again; it fell 10 short of the two-thirds needed. The 43 Republican senators who voted not to convict Trump are part of the leadership representing 38% of America. The 57 who voted to convict him represents 61% of the country experts tell us. The Majority who wanted Donald Trump to be held accountable lost to the white minority who live in small rural states. That white minority has a disproportionate representation in the United States senate. As a freelance writer, I have pointed to this disparity of representation in America due to two US senators’ system per state. That disparate system allows the views and demands of 38% of the population to take precedent over the overwhelming majority of voters. Winning presidential elections are a heavy lift for Democrats; the party won the popular vote in every Presidential election since 2000. Speaking of the 2000 elections, Democrats won the popular vote but lost the electoral college vote to George Bush, (with the help of a Republican supreme court). Hillary Clinton garnered more than five million more votes than Trump, still, she lost the presidency due to a system designed to drown out the voices of the masses to the benefit of the few. It required that Biden get more than 7‑million more votes than Donald Trump received in 2016 to garner the same amount of electoral college votes Trump did. Those disproportionalities tilt the playing field heavily in favor of Republicans. Despite those legs up, Republicans continue to attack the democratic process with wave after wave of voter suppression tactics aimed specifically at wiping out the black vote. Donald Trump and his sycophants like to brag that 70-million people voted for him, they say no other sitting Republican president could get that many votes, as if 80 plus million people did not vote to repudiate him. Nothing turned out Trump voters more than the issue of removing confederate statues from public spaces, holding racists accountable, ending police killings of racial minorities. Those are the things that galvanized them, not Trump, Donald Trump only offered a bully pulpit for those ideas.
Every Republican member of the United States House and Senate knew exactly what Donald Trump was trying to do from he started labeling the Press, ‘enemy of the state’. They knew what he was up to before he was elected when asked if he would concede if he lost the 2016 elections, and he replied he would have to see. They knew what he was up to after he was elected and was running for reelection and was asked the same question, and he responded that if he did not win, it meant that the elections were rigged. They knew what he was doing when he started bad mouthing the elections before they began. When he started attacking early voting, when he attacked mail-in voting. When he attacked the “ballots,” When he placed Dejoy over the postal service and started dismantling the infrastructure to slow down mail delivery, they all knew what he was doing when he built a mountain of lies to deflect from his hatred, racism, and crimes.
They were aware of what he was doing when he decapitated the Defense department. They knew what he was doing when he placed hacks in power positions even after he had lost the 2020 elections. They knew what he was doing when he called election officials and demanded that they find him votes to overturn the certified results. They were aware of his plans when he created doubt about the vote count in largely black cities and counties. They were complicit when he left Mar‑a Lago before Christmas to return to the White House. They knew what was up when he packed the courts from early in his presidency. They were aware of his plans when William Barr left the DOJ. They knew damn well what his plans were when he pardoned Michael Flynn and other criminals and had Flynn advising him to declare martial law to steal the elections. They saw him juice up the lunatic mob with lies and misinformation. They saw him direct the mob at the congress with the expressed intent of decapitating the Legislative branch and his own vice president. More than all, they heard Mike Pompeo repeatedly told journalists that Trump would be inaugurated for a second term, even after the elections were decided. What did Mike Pompeo know, and when did he know it? Every one of them knew that Trump intended to overthrow the American government system to make himself king. Not a single one of them lifted a finger to stop it. They did not do anything to stop him because it served the ends of white supremacy, a cause to which all of the Republicans are inextricably linked.

Kyle Rittenhouse is awaiting trial for fatally shooting two people and seriously injuring a third with a rifle he couldn’t legally carry. His multiple charges include two felony counts of intentional homicide. Regardless of how one feels about the circumstances surrounding the Aug. 25 shooting in Kenosha, Wis., there’s no denying that, on paper, he appears to be the kind of criminal Americans would have no problem condemning even before he’s found guilty. Except, Rittenhouse is white, looks like the kid next door (to white people), and is an American’s American — meaning he loves cops, guns, vigilante “justice,” and, well, America.
This is why Rittenhouse quickly raised funds to pay his $2 million bail and why he thought nothing of hitting a bar fresh off his release and hanging out with local white supremacists. It’s why Rittenhouse was likely confident that violating court orders by leaving the court with a false address would be no big deal — and it’s why he was absolutely right about that. The Washington Post reports that during a virtual hearing on Thursday, Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder denied the motion by prosecutors to have Rittenhouse rearrested for violating the terms of his release and raise his bond by $200,000. From the Post:
Schroeder acknowledged that the 18-year old had failed to keep the court apprised of his residence but disagreed with Assistant District Attorney Thomas C. Binger’s arguments, noting that Rittenhouse’s release conditions require only that the defendant provide the court with his address, not that he actually reside there.
“To issue a warrant now for a defendant that has appeared at every hearing would be breaking the law, and I’m not going to do it,” Schroeder said, adding that he lacked the authority to issue the kind of warrant Binger requested. “Rittenhouse’s release conditions require only that the defendant provide the court with his address, not that he actually resides there.”
Bruh, WHAT?
What kind of “whites only” bail conditions are these that allow someone charged in multiple homicides to give the court any old address while the defendant lives wherever the hell he pleases?
You know what? Never mind; I’ve been writing about “two Americas” since Rittenhouse first became news. According to the Post, during the Thursday hearing — which included statements by Gaige Grosskreutz, the man who survived being shot by Rittenhouse; and John Huber, the father of Anthony Huber, one of the victims who died — Schroeder did order Rittenhouse’s attorneys to provide the court with a current address, saying it would be kept secret from everyone except the judge, court clerk, and sheriff. His attorneys previously argued their client left the address the court had on file because of “numerous death and other threats based on the events of August 25, 2020, in the City of Kenosha, Wisconsin,” according to CNN.
During the hour-long hearing, which was at times contentious, Schroeder attempted to head off several arguments that veered too close to the political back-and-forth that has gripped the case. He stressed that he was trying to be as fair as possible to everyone involved.
“This case is not going to be decided by demonstrators of one type or another,” he said.
Yeah, let’s hope America’s blindness doesn’t actually decide this case to white criminality. If the handling of Rittenhouse up until now is any indication of how he’ll be treated when tried, I won’t be holding my breath that his story ends in consequences for his actions.
Retired DSP Altermoth “Parro” Campbell has been freed of all charges laid against him by a Constable who pepper-sprayed him during a traffic stop in 2019. Mister Campbell was represented by Attorney Law Bert SamuelS. With this acquittal, there is the possibility of a lawsuit against the arresting officer, the Commissioner of Police, the Government (the Attorney General, the Ministry of National Security, and the Ministry of Justice). Breaking news . More to come.
As the administration in Kingston buries its head in the sand on the existential issue of crime, even matters of basic safety, seem to be outside of the abilities and scope of the people tasked with the nation’s security and safety. A story caught my eyes in one of the local dailies today. Some residents of the western tourist town of Negril in Westmoreland are demanding that medians that were placed on the Norman Manley Boulevard,(rolling eyes at the idea of another edifice named after the Manleys), be removed forthwith. The medians were placed there to reduce speeding that has been causing crashes on the strip. The residents and their mouthpieces argue that the medians are now damaged by speeding motorists and are now, adding to the reasons serious crashes occur on that strip of roadway.
Cognitive dissonance, I guess! So, here we have a situation in which the medians were damaged by the same speeding motorists who refuse to adhere to the road traffic act’s dictates. The same motorists who continue to crash and kill other motorists and passengers they transport, making demands that the remedies applied, be removed. The clueless member of Parliament, someone named Morland Wilson, stupidly joined the call to remove the medians. The Member of Parliament had this to say, quote; “In December, I got reports of four accidents as a result of the medians. And when I say as a result – vehicle, literally, drive up on the medians. Some turned over, some lost control and hit walls and other cars and pedestrians. So, it is horrible.” You cannot make these things up. This was the statement from a supposed leader of our country. No mister member of parliament, the cause of the crashes cannot be attributed to the medians; they are directly a result of speeding motorists.
Morland Wilson
We cannot keep moving the goalpost of accountability so that we may appease lawbreakers. We are failing the country; we are marching the country into a failed state, status. Just an aside for the member of parliament mister Wilson, there is a difference between what is considered an accident and what is considered a crash. Accident; an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury. Crash; this happens because of actions of one or more drivers through one or more events, i.e., speeding, reckless and careless driving, speeding, drunk driving, etc. Therefore, it follows that for the most part, these [crashes] are resulting in the death of citizens because of one or more of the causes I laid out in the definition of [crash]. The medians were placed in the roadways to slow down drivers, instead of abiding by the new rules, the speeders continued speeding, damaging the infrastructure and snuffing out more lives. The response from the residents and the member of parliament is nothing if not dystopian.
I am reminded of a joke my friend’s wife shared with me, (sorry Jackie, I had to borrow this one). She loves pork, and so she had a meal of pork and rice, she developed a stomach ache. She knew the pork caused her stomach ache, but she stopped eating rice. Common sense dictates that the people know what is causing the crashes,(speeding), not the medians placed there, not the medians that the same speeding motorists now damage. The member of parliament cannot be that dumb that he doesn’t understand that simple concept. But, taking stricter action to rein in these lawless motorists would be a bridge too far, so they want the medians removed, and their political representative concurs. Why are you writing about parochial matters like medians in roadways? Well, small things grow into big things; if we cannot stop motorists from speeding on a single strip of the roadway, how in God’s name can this same administration and police force stop crime on this Island? Think about it!
Outside the obvious question of the Westmoreland, police inability to take drastic steps against those motorists, lies the even deeper issue of this administration backing away from taking action to stop criminals. Choosing instead, to back away from the lawbreakers. It is stupid to do the same things and expect a different result, but that is only acceptable in ordinary people. When we elect leaders to represent us, we expect that they will make mistakes; what we do not expect, is to see our leaders make mistakes, fail to recognize those mistakes, and worse, refusing to remediate those mistakes out of arrogance. This Administration can no longer pretend that its policies on crime are working. We knew they would not work; there is a full body of work in this medium outlining why they would not work. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister exercised his prerogative and embarked on his fools mission. We had no power to stop him, so we were forced to wait for the consequences; sadly, the results are many dead Jamaicans. As a former officer who walked those streets, pathways, and alleyways, I had seen the gory bodies laid bare as the blood dried in the dust on the sidewalks. We did not need to see those dead bodies, the Prime Minister & his cabinet did, Andrew Holness, Horace Chang, Delroy Chuck, the cabal of criminal rights activists, et al. .…. oh, let us not forget Tony Anderson[sic].
