Marco Rubio Would Risk War With Russia In Order To Enforce Safe Zone In Syria

WASHINGTON — Sen. Marco Rubio (R‑Fla.) would be willing to risk going to war with Russia in order to enforce a no-fly zone in Syria.

In a Monday interview with CNBC’s John Harwood, the presidential candidate argued that doing nothing would only embolden terror groups like the Islamic State and increase the number of refugees coming out of Syria.

I am confident the Air Force can enforce that,” Rubio said of a hypothetical safe zone in Syria. “I believe the Russians would not test that. I don’t think it’s in the Russians’ interest to engage in an armed conflict with the United States.”

Asked what he would do if Russian forces decided to enter the safe zone anyway, Rubio responded, “Well, then you’re going to have a problem. But that would be no different than any other adversary.”

Imposing a unilateral no-fly zone at a time when Russian aircraft are already present in the sky over Syria would substantially increase the risk of armed conflict, military experts told the Christian Science Monitor last week.

But Rubio, who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he was willing to accept the consequences of armed conflict with Russia and President Vladimir Putin because the alternative, in his view, “is worse.”

The alternative is [Syrian President Bashar] Assad will remain in power but never control the whole of Syria again,” he said. “The alternative is the continued growth of non-ISIS terrorist groups in addition to ISIS itself.

That being said, we cannot say, well, if Putin is going to test us, we can’t do anything. You basically at that point ceded to him as becoming the most influential geopolitical broker in the region,” he added.

Rubio isn’t the only GOP presidential contender to voice support for establishing a no-fly zone in Syria. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R‑S.C.) have done so as well.

Democratic presidential contenders are split on the matter. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday that she supported creating “a no-fly zone and humanitarian corridors to try to stop the carnage on the ground and from the air.” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I‑Vt.), her chief rival for the nomination, said he opposes the imposition of a no-fly zone because it could get America “deeply involved in that horrible civil war and lead to a never-ending U.S. entanglement in that region.“Story originated here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/marco-rubio-russia-no-fly-zone_5612e38ae4b0368a1a60ad06

Are We Afraid Of Britain?’ — Golding Questions Unwillingness To Negotiate Better Prison Deal

Former Prime Minister Bruce Golding
Former Prime Minister Bruce Golding

FORMER PRIME Minister Bruce Golding says he is “uncomfortable” with the Government’s acceptance of proposed arrangements by British Prime Minister David Cameron for the construction of a new prison, on terms which he says are not in Jamaica’s best interest.

Speaking during the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) South West St Elizabeth Constituency Awards Banquet in Black River on Saturday night, Golding said the terms for the prison’s construction in Jamaica will ultimately place a severe strain on the country’s finances.

He cautioned the Government against burdening the country with responsibilities which should be borne by Britain.

I told the British prime minister (Gordon Brown) — in 2008 I think it was — when the idea was raised, I said, ‘Prime Minister, these are your prisoners, you know, not mine. Look, I can’t take that on’ … . I said, ‘If one of your people come to Jamaica and commit a crime and he is found guilty, we have to lock him up in our prison; we can’t put him on a plane and send him back …,” Golding said.

You mean, there is nobody in the Government who can say to the prime minister of Britain, ‘Sorry, we can’t work with that.’ Or if we gonna work it, this is how it has to work? Where is that money to come from?” he added.

Gov’t Taking On A Burden

Golding said since the £25 million in assistance from the United Kingdom would account for approximately 40 per cent of the cost to construct the prison, Jamaica would have to find the remaining 60 per cent, as well as undertake the burden of housing and feeding the proposed 300 prisoners to be repatriated, as proposed by British Prime Minister David Cameron.

So, why can’t someone say to Prime Minister Cameron: ‘All right, fine. We’re glad for the £25 million. Now, how much a month you going pay for the boarding of these prisoners that you send … ? Because they didn’t commit no crime in Jamaica; they weren’t convicted in Jamaica. So what you are really doing is you’re contracting us to manage a prison for you, but to manage it in Jamaica. And if they enter into that kind of contract, they must pay for it. You mean we so ‘fraid a dem?” he questioned.

This is a poor country; we don’t have no money; we cannot fix roads. Our prisons are overcrowded. We don’t have any empty space in Tower Street or St Catherine (correctional facilities). The British government has more than 2,000 empty cells in their prisons. Britain has a whole heap of money that we don’t .; Britain is a rich country; we are a poor country,” he continued.

He said under Cameron’s current proposal, the Government of Jamaica would have to source the funds for constructing the prison upfront and that by the time the prison is completed, the proposed allocation from the British would have already been exhausted.

That prison is not like a two-bedroom house, you know,” he said. “That (prison) going take you two and a half years to build at least. And the prime minister of Britain said he going send back dem guys here by 2020. The point I am making is that that money going have to be found fairly quickly, and I ask the question: At what expense are you going to find that money?

Crawford Out !!!

Damion Crawford
Damion Crawford

THERE were tense moments at yesterday’s St Andrew East Rural candidate selection exercise at the People’s National Party (PNP) headquarters in St Andrew, as businessman Peter Blake defeated incumbent Member of Parliament Damion Crawford to secure the right to represent the party in the next general election.

The selection exercise teetered on the brink of a firestorm after it was announced by PNP Deputy General Secretary Julian Robinson that Blake polled 217 votes to Crawford’s 166, which flat-lined the young MP’s political career. Just over 500 delegates were eligible to vote. One ballot was spoilt.

Heading into yesterday’s run-off, which began at 10:00 am and ended at 3:00pm, an embattled Crawford told the Jamaica Observer that he was “pretty confident, having done the work”.

Our people are coming out early; we knew the rain was going to fall, so we had to ensure that we had the Xs in the boxes. We are confident… I think there are more people who are satisfied than dissatisfied,” he said at that time, noting that it was an internal election and immediately following would be the process of getting “all PNP” on board.

Singing to the same tune, Blake, who was the 2011 standard-bearer for the party before being replaced by Crawford, said: “We feel fairly confident enuh… the people are about to speak, or have spoken already.”

At the same time, he rubbished rumours that the party would defy the delegates and replace him for the highly anticipated general election if he emerged the winner, insisting that the party would not put the constituency through the “trauma of a selection” and not use him.

It is being repeatedly reported to me by delegates and constituents that my opponent and his agent have been telling them that should I be successful in the upcoming selection, that it is the intention of the party not to ratify me as the candidate,” Blake said in a letter to General Secretary Paul Burke.

In responding to his concern, Burke said: “…My own opinion, based on your concerns about a negative campaign being waged against you, is that they would have to be new concerns as the unsubstantiated concerns of the past, I believe, could not hold any merit whatsoever at this time.”

Orange-clad party faithful in support of Crawford converged just outside the gates of the party’s headquarters, at times obstructing traffic, eating, drinking and smoking, while supporters of Blake stood on the opposite side of the road looking on tentatively.

Several tents set up by the MP housed supporters and members of his campaign team, who went through lists ensuring their delegates had turned up to vote. In the meantime, challenger Blake, who operated from a house on Bougainvillea Avenue in Mona, conducted a roll-call himself before delegates were transported to the party headquarters where they cast their ballots.

Shortly after 3:00 pm, when Robinson announced the results, tempers flared as disgruntled Crawford supporters became boisterous, hurling objects at times and even threatening to fight.

No Crawford, no vote!” supporters of the first-time MP shouted.

East Rural St Andrew a go to Labourite since Crawford nuh get it!” one supporter said, arguing that Crawford promotes education and development of the constituents.

This man is not about handouts and that is why them fighting him. Him build road, centre, and educate wi. Who is this Blake? Mi never see him yet,” said another Comrade.

But the majority of the delegates who voted showed their approval for Blake, with one insisting that the businessman was who he saw working in the constituency for most of Crawford’s stewardship.

Damion stand up and seh him nuh inna curry goat politics, but a nuh suh di ting guh. You can’t just change the ting suh; it’s a process,” Clifton Findley, a Blake supporter said.

Him dis wi — call wi all ply-board Comrades and curry goat Comrades. Him seh him naah come nuh funeral. Well, wi naah vote fi him,” Carlene Whyte, another Blake supporter, said.

Blake, after learning he had triumphed, said: “The people have spoken. The people are the power and the people were over on this side.”

Asked what would be his next move, Blake responded: “Whole heap of work, and we’re going to win the constituency for the People’s National Party.”

He denied that there was any form of disunity within the constituency and extended an olive branch to Crawford.

Just work with me, just like how I worked with you and build the community as one,” urged Blake.

In the meantime, Crawford struggled to temper the reaction of his supporters who levelled accusations of foul play against the party Secretariat.

I am as surprised as you are. But at the end of the day, the party has procedures and we entered, so therefore, the results we have to accept,” he said to loud boos and shouts of “no”.

I knew what I was risking when I decided to do what I did. I risked my career for children who I don’t even know their names. I spent $600,000 to do diagnostic tests; I could have easily done it for fertiliser. So if you risk and don’t get the return, accept the risk,” the MP said to more boos from his supporters.

I was a PNP before I was a candidate. I will remain a PNP, even if I am not a candidate.”

He downplayed talk of foul play in the selection, instead stating that he had every confidence in the party’s secretariat. “There were 400 delegates and the majority felt that what I did wasn’t satisfactory, and I will support the victor 100 per cent,” said Crawford.

Crawford is the last among several PNP members of parliament who have been challenged for their candidacy.

The rumblings within the constituency emerged after Crawford announced that he would not be seeking re-election. He admitted that he was not convinced at the time of his announcement that the style of politics he brought to the constituency would propel him to victory at the polls. He later made an about-turn, saying that his earlier announcement was a trick. story originated here VIDEO: PNP discards Crawford

Tanzania: UN Hails Tanzania On Growth Record

Tanzania and United Nations launched the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the country pledging to translate the global programmes into its national plans of action. On its part, the UN hailed Tanzania for having already translated the global goals into the country’s development programmes. Speaking at the launch in Dar es Salaam, the UN Tanzania Resident Coördinator, Mr Alvaro Rodriguez, said that for the first time, governments of all countries have agreed on a set of goals for everyone. “These goals will help all nations and all people share prosperity, reduce poverty and protect the planet from climate change. They will address the interconnected elements of sustainable development, which includes economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection,” he noted.

A commissioner at the President’s Planning Commission, Mr Paul Kessy, pledged the government’s readiness to implement the 15-year goals. He noted that President Jakaya Kikwete and his team were in New York to endorse the global goals with other member states, which was an illustration of Tanzania’s commitment to working with partners such as the UN towards eradicating poverty. He added that this time round, strengthening the means of implementation and revitalising the global partnership for sustainable development has been accorded more emphasis. A commissioner from the Zanzibar Planning Commission, Mr Ahmed Makame, said that as he looks at the 17 SDGs, he feels proud that the country has been part of the global initiative. “I feel optimistic that Tanzania is starting the road to meet the SDGs on the right foot. As we have learnt to the Millennium Development Goals, we saw how important it was to align the national development strategy to the global goals,” Mr Makame pointed out. He added that Zanzibar was in the process of formulating its national development strategy and we have placed meeting the SDGs at the core of the formulation process,” he said. The Ambassador of Ireland to Tanzania, Ms Fionnuala Gilsenan, assured her country’s support for the SDGs, noting that the global goals build on the MDGs but that they are more ambitious and they deal with new dimensions of old problems. “They aim to tackle the complex nature of poverty and inequality. The SDGs cannot be contemplated in isolation from issues such as climate change, gender equality, human rights and tackling underling structural inequality,” she noted. Speaking on behalf of Project Everyone Partners, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Ms Liz Lloyd, asserted the importance of the private sector partnering with the United Nations and the government in spreading the message of the global goals.

As a bank, we often talk about the importance of being here for good. This is not just a promise but an ethos that we try to live by every day,” she said. Ms Lloyd added that the global goals offer a unique chance to collaborate with other world leading organizations, putting into practice Goal 17 which aims to revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. The sustainable development goals (SDGs) are a new, universal set of goals, targets and indicators that UN member states will be expected to use to frame their agendas and political policies over the next 15 years. The SDGs follow and expand on the millennium development goals (MDGs), which were agreed by governments in 2001 and are due to expire at the end of this year. The SDGs are to end poverty in all its forms everywhere; end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture; ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; and achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Others are to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all; ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all; promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and full and productive employment.

They further seek decent work for all; and build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. Other goals are to reduce inequality within and among countries; make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable; ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns; take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (taking note of agreements made by the UNFCCC forum) ; and conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

The remaining SDGs are to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification and halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss; and promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

Others are to provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels; and strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development.

CNN And Oregon Sheriff Won’t Name Campus Shooter, We Will

Oregon college shooting suspect Chris Harper- Mercer
Oregon college shooting suspect Chris Harper- Mercer

Christopher Harper-Mercer, 26, who moved to Oregon from the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California, was officially identified on Friday as the assailant in the rampage at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, which ranks as the deadliest among dozens of U.S. mass shootings in the past two years. According to Reuters new Agency.
Information coming to the fore indicates Mercer was born in Britain but came to the United States as a young child.
Reports indicate he had a month long stint in the US Army but was terminated before he even became a soldier.
According to Reuters, The shooter left behind a “multipage, hated-filled” statement in the classroom, according to a Twitter message from an NBC reporter, citing multiple law enforcement sources who were not identified. CNN, citing sources, said the statement showed animosity toward blacks.

CNN insist it will not show Mercer’s face on it’s network neither will it mention his name. The reason CNN gives for this position is that Mercer wanted notoriety and the network would not help him to get that notoriety. Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin, who has vowed never to say the gunman’s name, declined to comment when asked about the writings at a news conference.
This writer totally see how the dead Christopher Mercer will be benefitting from his face being on television and his name being mentioned on their air. [sic]

It’s interesting to note that the same Sheriff John Hanlin wrote to Vice President Joe Biden Two years ago, Hanlin was one of hundreds of sheriffs around the country who vowed to stand against new gun control legislation. In a January 15, 2013, letter to Vice President Joe Biden, he wrote, “Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings.”
After the shooting John Hanlin was questioned about his stance in response he said he will not deal with that issue as he is occupied with dealing with the events at hand.
So we decided to produce John Hanlin’s letter to the Vice President of the United States.

According to reuters reporting ‚The first thing customers entering the Gun Shop in Roseburg Oregon see is a life-sized cardboard cutout of President Barack Obama with a Middle Eastern scarf around his head and a badge pinned to his chest that reads: “Gun salesman of the year.”
The customers and sales staff in this store, located 10 miles (16 km) from Umpqua Community College, where a gunman killed nine people and injured nine others on Thursday, said they were horrified by the shootings. But they were not buying the president’s argument that guns were the problem.
Note that that letter was addressed to Vice President Biden and not the President of the United States.
The threatening tone of the letter cannot be ignored
But what is even more revealing is the sentence which reads thus.“We are Americans” suggesting by inference that the President of the United States is not American.

The penultimate paragraph amounted to nothing less than an outright threat against the president and the duly constituted authority of the Federal Government.
These are the backwater hicks who are policing America’s streets and supposedly upholding the nation’s laws.
According to Police six guns were recovered at the scene of the shooting and seven more recovered from the home of Christopher Harper-Mercer . A total of 13 guns which they insist were all purchased legally.
Yet many within the community including cops insist the problem is not guns it is mental illness.
Imagine if someone with an Arab sounding name had committed this act ?
The President of the United states pointed to the disconnect in America as it relates to the noise surrounding gun control as against the number of Americans killed in incidents not characterized as terrorist acts each year.
According to Vox.com Deaths from gun violence vs. deaths from terrorism, in one chart
More than 10,000 Americans are killed every year by gun violence. By contrast, so few Americans have been killed by terrorist attacks since 911 that when you chart the two together, the terrorism death count approximates zero for every year except 2001. The point President Obama is making is clear: We spend huge amounts of money every year fighting terrorism, yet are unwilling, at the national level, to take even minor steps (like requiring background checks on all gun sales nationally) to stop gun violence.

Never mind that this creep who took the lives of those unsuspecting people also expressed hatred toward Black people.
As America spends Trillions protecting against the “bogeyman Islam” the facts are unmistakeable the real killing of Americans are being done by Americans, right here in America.
Islamic hatred and Xenophobia will not change those numbers there is a large part of the American population which is hellbent on self destruction fuelled by racial hatred. They have a blind allegiance to the second amendment to the constitution only because that amendment suits their insane desire to own a multiplicity of weapons of mass destruction.
Weapons which they believe gives them the ability to control others through fear by force of arms. Unfortunately for everyone those weapons are killing everyone , not just those they hate but them and their children as well.
This 26 year old killer had 13 guns.
How many is enough?
Don’t expect this insanity to end anytime soon if ever.

Miller’s Contempt Is Not For The Press It’s For The People…

12002824_10204945833425221_401427015886358774_n

The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) is angry at Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller for refusing to allow herself to be interviewed particularly after the visit of British Prime Minister David Cameron.
In a release the (PAJ) said “The disgraceful position taken by Jamaica House” to restrict media access to Simpson Miller, who “has given very few in-depth interviews during her term in office which would allow individual journalists to adequately probe her ideas and policies”.
“The prime minister’s steadfast refusal to face the media is unprecedented in modern times, and is contemptuous of and dismissive of the Jamaican press to an unbelievable degree,”
“We urge Jamaica House to begin to pay the local press the respect it deserves, and to immediately begin to schedule regular press conferences with the Prime Minister, for the benefit of the public which we serve,”.

Old Jamaican proverb. Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink in a barrel.
Has this proverb lost it’s literal meaning?
Old Jamaican proverb . The pen is mightier than the sword.
Has this proverb lost it’s literal meaning?
In Jamaica’s case it has, because local Journalists have defaulted to intellectual laziness and party political affiliations which has rendered the press incapable of unearthing and exposing the truth as it should.
The Jamaican Press has for the most part aligned itself as does most other sectors of the balkanized Jamaican society to one or the other of the country’s two main political parties.

Even as it criticizes the Prime Minister for not making herself available to answer questions the (PAJ) has allowed it’s bruised ego to cloud the real issue of the Administration’s disdain and lack of respect for the Jamaican people.
The fact is that this has nothing to do with the Press and everything to do with the Jamaican people.
The press misses the boat even as it is correct in its assessment of Miller This is not about respect or the lack thereof for the press.
The press is in the business of providing information to the public not about garnering respect for itself.
The issue here is the Administration’s contempt for the right of the people to know what it is supposedly doing on their behalf.
It is fair to conclude that the Administration is not acting on behalf of the public.
And on that basis it believes it has no obligation to be accessible.
One cannot refuse to be accountable to his/her bosses.

The Danger Inherent In The Reparation Debate..

Slavery was abolished in Jamaica in 1834, since then our nation has struggled with poverty despite the indomitable spirit of our people. This is due largely to forces from within even though our small nation is vulnerable to outside forces as all small dependent nation are.
Jamaica is blessed with almost ideal conditions for Agriculture .
The Natural beauty of Jamaica makes our Island a magnet for visitors who cannot wait to soak up the warmth of the Jamaican sun, relax in the warm caribbean waters and enjoy our great food and music.
Additionally our people are known for their warmth and kindness particularly to visitors to our shores.

 beautiful Jamaica.
beautiful Jamaica.

No one knows exactly how many African people died on the journey from the west coast of Africa, through the middle passage to the western world.
Some estimates vary from a few millions to 100,000,000 people.
No one knows exactly how many died as a result of maltreatment by slavers.
What we do know is that slavery was horrible , onerous and a blythe on all humanity.
Africans are not the only people to have been enslaved throughout history . Africans may have been the latest people to be subjected to the degrading, indignity of slavery.

Today there are mounting demands by many in the Caricom community as well as in Jamaica for those Britain to pay reparations to the region for slavery.
Committees have been set up within Caricom and indeed in Jamaica to press for reparations.
It’s incredibly difficult to argue with the legitimacy of those claims.
After Slavery some plantation owners were actually compensated for the loss of their human property. Despite this the conversation surrounding the need for Britain to pay reparations to the Islands of the west Indies have not gained any traction.
The fact is that the Caribbean has no means of enforcing it’s demands for those reparations. So the effort amounts to precious little more than spitting in the sky.
We all know what happens when we do that..

Recent comments by British Prime Minister David Cameron who offered to assist Jamaica in building a new prison to the tune of (£25m)twenty five million pounds, did not inspire confidence.
Neither was the Jamaican Prime Minister able to move the ball during Cameron’s visit to the Island this week.
The purpose of the prison according to David Cameron is to end the standoff between Jamaica and Britain on the subject of the transfer of Jamaican prisoners back to Jamaica.
The British prime Minister said it is “absolutely right” that foreign criminals were properly punished but not at the expense of the “hard-working British taxpayer”.
It’s not as if the arguments for reparations are not justified and indeed legitimate, however in light of existing conditions the pragmatic thing to do is make the point and move on.
Failing which we run the risk of creating an entire generation of Jamaicans who will spend their lives thinking that somehow they will someday be enriched by reparations paid out to them by Britain for hundreds of years of slavery.
Legitimate though the demands are , we can do exponentially more harm by dwelling on this than if we make our point and move on .

David Cameron was greeted by an honour guard and national anthems at the airport in Kingston
David Cameron was greeted by an honour guard and national anthems at the airport in Kingston

The first order of business is that England cannot afford it.
Secondly we have no means of enforcing our demands, so they will not consider it.
One person discussing the issue refers to waiting for reparations as “fool’s gold”.

I agree with that assessment it is a distraction which allows local and regional politicians to divert attention from their acts of corruption , tardiness and incompetence.
The British Prime Minister said the reason they are willing to help build the prison is to eliminate cost of housing Jamaican criminals at British taxpayers expense.
That policy decision is diametrically opposed to reparations.
Not only are they unwilling to pay reparations they are unwilling to house criminals who commit crimes in their country. They are quite prepared to dump Jamaican nationals living in England back on the Island.

In light of those realities it is in Jamaica’s best interest and indeed the wider Caribbean to ensure that those elected to lead do not continue to steal and waste scarce public resources.
The committees set up to examine this distraction would be better used toward ensuring that Politicians cannot continue to steal tens of millions of dollars while political operatives within the criminal justice system systematically distort the process until they are eventually set free on the rare occasion one is prosecuted.
The last thing Jamaica needs is another get rich quick diversion to enslave the minds of young people. Too many are already trapped in the mental prison of Lottery scams, Robbery and murder as a way of life.

Who Are The Jews In Israel Today?

ADAM MAARSCHALK

Growing up under Christian Zionist and dispensationalist teachings, I took for granted that the following narrative that was presented to me was the correct one:

The Jewish people in Israel are direct descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and God restored them to their land as a nation in 1948 in fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The Palestinians, on the other hand, are newly-arrived Arabs, mainly from Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, who flooded the land when they saw the Jews beginning to come back from Russia, Europe, and elsewhere.

Although it’s been a number of years since I learned that this narrative is far from correct, more recently I’ve learned some details that, if true, take this distortion to the next level. They show the claims of Christian Zionism and dispensationalism to be even further off-base, not only Biblically but also in terms of history.

I recently read an article written by Schlomo Sand, an Israeli history professor at Tel Aviv University, whose parents were Polish Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. I don’t agree with Sand’s stance on the Old Testament, but he makes some interesting statements regarding the inhabitants of Palestine in the centuries prior to Israel becoming a nation in 1948:

[After Jerusalem’s destruction in 70 AD], apart from enslaved prisoners, the population of Judea continued to live on their lands, even after the destruction of the second temple. Some converted to Christianity in the 4th century, while the majority embraced Islam during the 7th century Arab conquest.

Most Zionist thinkers were aware of this: Yitzhak Ben Zvi, later president of Israel, and David Ben Gurion, its first prime minister, accepted it as late as 1929, the year of the great Palestinian revolt. Both stated on several occasions that the peasants of Palestine were the descendants of the inhabitants of ancient Judea.“

[See David Ben Gurion and Yitzhak Ben Zvi, Eretz Israel in the past and present, 1918 (in Yiddish), and Jerusalem, 1980 (in Hebrew); Yitzhak Ben Zvi,Our population in the country, Executive Committee of the Union for Youth and the Jewish National Fund, Warsaw, 1929 (in Hebrew).]

Sand goes on to talk about the large impact of Jewish proselytizing, especially during the Middle Ages, when non-Jews, ethnically speaking, converted to the Jewish religion. He adds,

The most significant mass conversion occurred in the 8th century, in the massive Khazar kingdom between the Black and Caspian seas. The expansion of Judaism from the Caucasus into modern Ukraine created a multiplicity of communities, many of which retreated from the 13th century Mongol invasions into eastern Europe. There, with Jews from the Slavic lands to the south and from what is now modern Germany, they formed the basis of Yiddish culture.”

[Yiddish, spoken by the Jews of eastern Europe, was a Germano-Slavic language incorporating Hebrew words.]

Sand was an Israeli soldier for three years and fought in the Six-Day War of 1967, so it’s interesting what he says next:

The Israeli forces who seized Jerusalem in 1967 believed themselves to be the direct descendents of the mythic kingdom of David* rather than – God forbid – of Berber warriors or Khazar horsemen. The Jews claimed to constitute a specific ethnic group that had returned to Jerusalem, its capital, from 2,000 years of exile and wandering.

…Since the 1970s supposedly scientific research, carried out in Israel, has desperately striven to demonstrate that Jews throughout the world are closely genetically related… By validating an essentialist, ethnocentric definition of Judaism it encourages a segregation that separates Jews from non-Jews – whether Arabs, Russian immigrants or foreign workers… But Jews worldwide have always tended to form religious communities, usually by conversion; they cannot be said to share an ethnicity derived from a unique origin and displaced over 20 centuries of wandering.“

*Please note that I disagree with Sand when he says that David’s kingdom was mythic.

Arthur Koestler (1905 – 1983) was a Jewish author and journalist from Hungary (later a British citizen) who wrote a book in 1976 titled, “The Thirteenth Tribe: The Khazar Empire and Its Heritage” (available in PDF form here). Koestler’s thesis was that a majority of Jews today have ancestral roots in the ancient Khazar region (corresponding to modern SW Russia, Eastern Ukraine, and Western Kazakhstan), where many members of the Khazar royalty and also of the general population converted to Talmudic Judaism in the 8th century AD and adopted the Yiddish language, which is based on the Hebrew alphabet. Toward the end of Koestler’s book, he summarized its contents with these words:

In Part One of this book I have attempted to trace the history of the Khazar Empire based on the scant existing sources. In Part Two, Chapters V‑VII, I have compiled the historical evidence which indicates that the bulk of Eastern Jewry — and hence of world Jewry — is of Khazar-Turkish, rather than Semitic, origin. In the last chapter I have tried to show that the evidence from anthropology concurs with history in refuting the popular belief in a Jewish race descended from the biblical tribe.”

Koestler stated that his research undermined many accusations of anti-Semitism, since many Jews are not even Semitic. His work was understandably considered to be controversial. Some DNA experts were critical or skeptical of it, while others agreed. Dr. Eran Elhalk and Dr. Avshalom Zoossmann-Diskin are two geneticists who agree with Koestler’s hypothesis. They conducted a 2012 study at John Hopkins University, finding that the European Jewish population featured a mix of Caucasus, European, and Semitic ancestries. Their work is summed up in this abstract published by Oxford University Press:

The question of Jewish ancestry has been the subject of controversy for over two centuries and has yet to be resolved. The “Rhineland hypothesis” depicts Eastern European Jews as a “population isolate” that emerged from a small group of German Jews who migrated eastward and expanded rapidly. Alternatively, the “Khazarian hypothesis” suggests that Eastern European Jews descended from the Khazars, an amalgam of Turkic clans that settled the Caucasus in the early centuries CE and converted to Judaism in the 8th century. Mesopotamian and Greco – Roman Jews continuously reinforced the Judaized empire until the 13th century. Following the collapse of their empire, the Judeo – Khazars fled to Eastern Europe. The rise of European Jewry is therefore explained by the contribution of the Judeo – Khazars. Thus far, however, the Khazars’ contribution has been estimated only empirically, as the absence of genome-wide data from Caucasus populations precluded testing the Khazarian hypothesis. Recent sequencing of modern Caucasus populations prompted us to revisit the Khazarian hypothesis and compare it with the Rhineland hypothesis. We applied a wide range of population genetic analyses to compare these two hypotheses. Our findings support the Khazarian hypothesis and portray the European Jewish genome as a mosaic of Near Eastern-Caucasus, European, and Semitic ancestries, thereby consolidating previous contradictory reports of Jewish ancestry. We further describe a major difference among Caucasus populations explained by the early presence of Judeans in the Southern and Central Caucasus. Our results have important implications for the demographic forces that shaped the genetic diversity in the Caucasus and for medical studies.

Forget Reparations Eliminate Government Corruption/bureaucracy Tackle Crime And Jamaica Will Be Okay

12002824_10204945833425221_401427015886358774_n

In an Article written today on the issue of David Cameron’s visit to Jamaica yesterday I highlighted what I characterized as “idiocy” on the part of Jamaica and indeed the entire Caribbean in believing that the British Government will pay reparations for slavery. In addressing the Jamaican Parliament today Cameron said what I thought he would say.
Quote : Slavery was “abhorrent in all its forms ‚I do hope that, as friends who have gone through so much together since those darkest of times, we can move on from this painful legacy and continue to build for the future.” Cameron also announced £25m in British aid for a new Jamaican prison and a £300 million development package for the Caribbean which will provide grants for infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges. Cameron said his visit — the first by a British prime minister in 14 years — was to “reinvigorate” ties between the countries, and that he wanted to concentrate on future relations rather than centuries-old issues.

According to the BBC.com David Cameron rules out slavery reparation during Jamaica visit

In 1833, Britain emancipated its enslaved people and raised the equivalent of £17bn in compensation money to be paid to 46,000 of Britain’s slave-owners for “loss of human property”. University College London has compiled a database of those compensated. Among those listed is General Sir James Duff, who it is claimed is a first cousin six times removed of David Cameron. He was awarded compensation worth around £3 million in today’s terms. Others who received compensation include the ancestors of novelists George Orwell and Graham Greene, as well as distant relatives of Arts Council chairman Sir Peter Bazalgette and celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott.

Bert Samuels:

Conversely Caricom and more locally in Jamaica the arguments have been that Britain should pay reparations to the Islands for the injustice of slavery.
National commissions set up to consider the issue of reparations has calculated sums could run into trillions of dollars.
Does any sane person believe Britain is about to pay out Trillions of dollars to the Caribbean for the ignominy of slavery?
Bert Samuels, a member of Jamaica’s National Commission on Reparations, appeared more or less, less inebriated, telling local media that Cameron needs to atone, to apologise personally and on behalf of his country”.

Wider afield in Caricom’s reparations commission chairman Sir Hilary Beckles wrote in an open letter in the Jamaica Observer that the UK must “play its part in cleaning up this monumental mess of Empire”.
Hilary, Hilary, Hilary if you are serious about Caricom issues please drop the confounded Colonial “Sir” from your name .
That way your arguments against the region’s former colonial masters will resonate with more credibility.
Clearly Hilary Beckles is not one of my favorite Beckles. (no relation).
As I have said before the British Government will not pay out reparations for Slavery . The Caribbean region would probably have a chance on collecting on that bill if the region had a powerful military which could seriously threaten Britain through force of arms. Then and only then would they seriously consider paying for their crimes.
In the absence of that Caribbean leaders are better served by eliminating corruption from their ranks.
In Jamaica’s case, eschewing garrison politics, strengthening educational institutions, eliminating government corruption and bureaucracy and attacking crime will invariably lead to a better way of life for all Jamaicans.

David Cameron Rules Out Slavery Reparation During Jamaica Visit

The prime minister has ruled out reparation for Britain's role in the historic slave trade in the Caribbean
The prime minister has ruled out reparation for Britain’s role in the historic slave trade in the Caribbean

David Cameron has ruled out making reparations for Britain’s role in the historic slave trade and urged Caribbean countries to “move on”. The prime minister acknowledged that “these wounds run very deep” during his visit to Jamaica, where he faced calls to apologise from campaigners. He said Britain’s role in wiping slavery “off the face of our planet” should be remembered. Jamaican PM Portia Simpson Miller said she had raised the issue in talks.

Obvious sensitivities’

Addressing MPs in Jamaica’s parliament, Mr Cameron said slavery was “abhorrent in all its forms”. He added: “I do hope that, as friends who have gone through so much together since those darkest of times, we can move on from this painful legacy and continue to build for the future.” Mr Cameron also announced £25m in British aid for a new Jamaican prison and a £300 million development package for the Caribbean which will provide grants for infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges. He said his visit — the first by a British prime minister in 14 years — was to “reinvigorate” ties between the countries, and that he wanted to concentrate on future relations rather than centuries-old issues. Mrs Simpson Miller said while she was “aware of the obvious sensitivities”, Jamaica was “involved in a process under the auspices of the Caribbean Community [Caricom] to engage the UK on the matter”. During Mr Cameron’s speech, a small group of protesters with placards that read “reparations now” gathered outside parliament.

For more than 200 years Britain was at the heart of a lucrative transatlantic trade in millions of enslaved Africans. According to ship records it is estimated about 12.5 million people were transported as slaves from Africa to the Americas and the Caribbean — to work in often brutal conditions on plantations — from the 16th century until the trade was banned in 1807.

The issue of former slave-owning nations compensating former colonies is a contentious one in the Caribbean, where national commissions have calculated the sums could run into trillions of dollars. One suggestion has been that the money could be provided in the form of debt relief. BBC News correspondent Elaine Dunkley, who specialises in African Caribbean social affairs, said: “There really has been an issue with reparation in Jamaica, we can’t say that the reception there [to Mr Cameron’s visit] has been universally warm. “Correcting the wrongs of the past is not only costly but complicated and David Cameron has said that he doesn’t feel reparation is the way forward in this case.” Mrs Simpson Miller told the United Nations in 2013 there should be “an international discussion in a non-confrontational manner” and its parliament had passed a motion backing reparations. One Jamaican MP, Mike Henry, threatened to boycott Mr Cameron’s speech at the country’s parliament if he did not engage on the issue.

Campaigners also called on Mr Cameron to make a personal apology, saying one of his own ancestors was paid compensation for the loss of his slaves in 1834. Bert Samuels, a member of Jamaica’s National Commission on Reparations, told Television Jamaica “he needs to atone, to apologise personally and on behalf of his country”. Sir Hilary Beckles, chairman of Caricom’s reparations commission, wrote in an open letter in the Jamaica Observer that the UK must “play its part in cleaning up this monumental mess of Empire”. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who lived in Jamaica for two years in his youth, said that, as prime minister, he would be ready to apologise for the slave trade. Speaking at Labour’s annual conference in Brighton, Mr Corbyn said it was “the most brutal part of our history and the history of Jamaica”.

David Cameron's visit to Jamaica is the first by a British prime minister in 14 years
David Cameron’s visit to Jamaica is the first by a British prime minister in 14 years

During his two-day visit, Mr Cameron revealed the UK will spend £25m on building a prison in Jamaica so that foreign criminals in the UK can be sent home to serve sentences in the Caribbean. More than 600 Jamaican nationals are in UK jails but cannot be deported because of Jamaica’s poor prison conditions. Officials say the foreign aid-funded deal could save taxpayers £10m a year when transfers begin in 2020. The Howard League for Penal Reform criticised the plan, saying it was “the wrong use of foreign aid” and would fail to address the real issue of overcrowding in British prisons.See story here : David Cameron rules out slavery reparation during Jamaica visit

Syria Crisis: Russian Air Strikes Against Assad Enemies.……

Russia has begun carrying out airstrikes in Syria against opponents of President Bashar al-Assad.

The strikes reportedly hit rebel-controlled areas of Homs and Hama provinces, causing casualties. The US says it was informed an hour before they took place. Russian defence officials say aircraft carried out about 20 missions targeting Islamic State, but US officials said that so far they did not appear to be targeting IS-held territory.

Syria’s civil war has raged for four years, with an array of armed groups fighting to overthrow the government. The US and its allies have insisted that President Assad should leave office, while Russia has backed its ally remaining in power. The upper house of the Russian parliament earlier granted President Vladimir Putin permission to deploy the Russian air force in Syria.

The Russian defence ministry said the country’s air force had targeted IS military equipment, communication facilities, arms depots, ammunition and fuel supplies — and did not hit civilian infrastructure or areas nearby.

Syrian opposition activists said Russian warplanes had hit towns including Zafaraneh, Rastan and Talbiseh, resulting in the deaths of 36 people, a number of them children. None of the areas targeted were controlled by IS, activists said. US Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States was prepared to welcome Russian military action in Syria — but only as long as it was directed against IS and al-Qaeda-linked groups. Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, Mr Kerry said the US would have “grave concerns” if Russia conducted strikes against other groups. He said the US-led coalition against IS would “dramatically accelerate our efforts” and that the US was prepared to hold talks with Russia about avoiding accidental conflicts between the two air strike campaigns “as early as possible”.

Russia’s decision to intervene with its air power greatly complicates the Syrian crisis while probably offering little additional chance of a diplomatic resolution. Russian sources indicate that Sukhoi Su-24 warplanes were involved, operating out of an airbase near Latakia. There are serious questions about who exactly the Russian aircraft are targeting. US officials believe that the initial Russian strikes are not in IS-held territory, raising the possibility that Russian air power is being utilised more in the form of close air support for Syrian government forces against the multiple enemies of the Assad régime. Of course, many of these enemies are supported by the West’s Arab allies or Turkey. The warning time given by the Russians to the Americans announcing the start of their operations may also raise some eyebrows, suggesting that much more detailed co-ordination may be needed in future to avoid incidents in Syrian airspace.

In a televised address, Mr Putin said the air strikes were targeting Islamist militants — including Russian citizens — who have taken over large parts of Syria and Iraq. “If they [militants] succeed in Syria, they will return to their home country, and they will come to Russia, too,” he said. He added that Russia was not going to send ground troops to Syria, and that its role in Syrian army operations would be limited.

We certainly are not going to plunge head-on into this conflict… we will be supporting the Syrian army purely in its legitimate fight with terrorist groups.” Mr Putin also said he expected President Assad to talk with the Syrian opposition about a political settlement, but clarified that he was referring to what he described as “healthy” opposition groups. A US defence official said: “A Russian official in Baghdad this morning informed US embassy personnel that Russian military aircraft would begin flying anti-Isil [IS] missions today over Syria. He further requested that US aircraft avoid Syrian airspace during these missions.” US state department spokesman John Kirby told reporters: “The US-led coalition will continue to fly missions over Iraq and Syria as planned and in support of our international mission to degrade and destroy Isil [IS].”

Syria’s civil war

_85837091_85836590

What’s the human cost?

More than 250,000 Syrians have been killed and a million injured in four-and-a-half years of armed conflict, which began with anti-government protests before escalating into a full-scale civil war.

And the survivors?

More than 11 million others have been forced from their homes, four million of them abroad, as forces loyal to President Assad and those opposed to his rule battle each other — as well as jihadist militants from IS and other groups. Growing numbers of refugees are going to Europe.

How has the world reacted?

Regional and world powers have also been drawn into the conflict. Iran and Russia, along with Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, are propping up the Alawite-led government. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are backing the Sunni-dominated opposition, along with the US, UK and France.

Apostasy Alert: T.D. Jakes’ “Grapples” With Calling Homosexuality A Sin

T.D. Jakes encouraged those in the gay community to attend churches that affirm their perspective.
T.D. Jakes encouraged those in the gay community to attend churches that affirm their perspective.

In just the latest sign of his descent into the compromised apostate church, mega-star Prosperity Gospel preacher T.D. Jakes very artfully evaded calling a homosexuality a sin when pressed on the issue in an interview with the Huffington Post. Taking a page from the playbook of Joel Osteen, Jakes made sure not to say anything Biblical in the mainstream media interview and then took a stronger stance once the questions from the Christian community followed. Jakes’ comments reflect the Apostasy – the prophesied falling away in the church from Biblical Christianity.

It’s A Complex Issue”

Here is the video of Jakes with Huffington Post contributor Marcus Lamont Hill as it turned to the subject of homosexuality in the church:

YouTube player

Hill rephrased the first listener question by asking Jakes “how should the church get along [with homosexuals who want to attend and join]?” This was a question that a pastor who believes in sound, Biblical doctrine could easily answer. The church should get along with members of the LGBT community like it does with all other people – sharing the Biblical Gospel message that we are all sinners who deserve hell but can receive grace thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for the forgiveness of sin. But instead of stating Biblical truth, Jakes opted for a non-answer:

Absolutely… I think it is going to be diverse from church to church. Every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different,” he replied. “And I think that to speak that the church — the black church, the white church or any kind of church you wanna call it — are all the same, is totally not true.”

Of course this response did not answer the question at all. When further pressed on the issue Jakes gave a ringing endorsement to “gay friendly” or gay-affirming churches: “LGBT’s of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe like anyone else,” he outlined.
“The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you don’t like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, don’t try to change my house, move into your own … and find somebody who gets what you get about faith.”

Jakes’ advised gay people who believe homosexuality is not a sin to seek out churches that “reflect their views.” This is basically encouraging people to believe a false Gospel. In the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul gave a farewell exhortation to a group of his disciples knowing he would likely never see them again. In it he said:

Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (Acts 20:26 – 28).

Paul said his hands were clean from being responsible for anyone’s life because he preached “all the counsel of God.” In other words, the Apostle did not pick and choose to preach only the portions of the Bible that were pleasant to all people and tickled the ears. He preached God’s entire Word, regardless of how dire or stern it may have seemed to his audience. This is because it is essential for all people to realize their sin before God. All people (this author included) are sinners – the Bible makes this clear: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God..” (Romans 3:23). Conviction of that sin is what can lead a person to understand that they need a Savior. And that Savior is The Lord Jesus Christ.

Jakes encouraged gays to attend one of the many gay-affirming churches that have become popular in the U.S.
Jakes encouraged gays to attend one of the many gay-affirming churches that have become popular in the U.S.

If a person lives their lives violating God’s Word and having no remorse or repentance for that sin, then they could never feel a need for forgiveness. And thus their hearts reject God’s message. And this is precisely what Jakes was promoting by encouraging those in the LGBT community to attend churches that affirm their worldview. This is the clear sign of a heretic and false teacher. In the same passage of Acts 20 where Paul admonishes his disciples to preach “all the counsel of God” he followed that up with a grave warning:“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:29 – 31). The “wolves” in question were false teachers presenting themselves as “strong Christian preachers” but who in fact were teaching heretical, unbiblical doctrines, like Jakes.
Beginning and End has already examined the wildly unbiblical Prosperity Gospel doctrine of Jakes as well as his New Age teaching series he led with Oprah Winfrey. So it is of little surprise that when pressed on the issue of homosexuality (something you will never hear Jakes or any mega-church television pastor preach on), he offered up such a sinful response.

The Bible and Homosexuality

There is nothing “complex” about God’s plan for marriage.
There is nothing “complex” about God’s plan for marriage.

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. – The Lord Jesus Christ, Matthew 19:3 – 6.

The Word of God is clear that homosexuality is a sin. God’s order for intimate relationships is for a man to be married to one woman for life. And what this means for a gay person entering the church is that like everyone else who is attending, they have to be ready to put God’s Word and desires before their own. The Christian life is one of surrender. It is a submission to God’s Holy and perfect will, even if we do not fully comprehend it.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55:6 – 9.

The Lord’s thinking and plans are well beyond those of corrupt humanity. So while it may seem hard to understand the reasoning behind some of the Bible, it does not negate its truth. What helps a person understand the Bible and God better is receiving the Spirit of God. This is what occurs when a person believes in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of their sins. Their old spirit, corrupted with the sin nature all people possess, dies. And it is replaced by a new spirit, given from God, that seeks to please The Lord. At the same time, that newly regenerated Christian is still living in the flesh body we are all born with. And that body still contains the sin nature. And thus a Christians spirit is constantly at war with the flesh. The Lord Jesus Christ said: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41).

So the challenge for a person in any kind of sexual sin is simple: are you willing to give up your own desires and seek to obey The Lord? This is what a true, Christian pastor should be advising with respect to how any group can “get along” with the church. The book of Galatians describes this challenge in the Christian life:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me… This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. – Galatians 2:20; 5:16 – 17.

Note that T.D. Jakes says nothing about this. He does not even quote the Scriptures at all in answering this question. Instead he offered answers that distracted from the very direct questions being asked to him. Jakes then further showed his apostasy by saying the issue of homosexuality should be addressed “behind closed doors” and that the issue of “sexuality versus spirituality” was complex “in the Bible days.” Jakes accused the Apostle Paul of struggling with issues of sexuality and bases this on a reference to 1 Corinthians 11 and the admonition for women to have a “covering” on their heads – a reference to both the literal veils women wore at that time in public and the metaphorical “cover” that a man has as an authority figure over a woman. This passage has nothing to do whatsoever with sexuality. And nowhere is there any indication that the Apostle Paul “struggled” to write this passage. 2 Timothy 3:16 says:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. – 2 Timothy 3:16 – 17.

Despite being two of the most popular pastors in the world, both Jakes and Joel Osteen (right) have openltcontradicted the Bible on mainstream media.

To say Paul “struggled” with his writing is to imply that the Scriptures were not divinely inspired. Jakes continued his incorrect interpretation of the Bible by saying Paul “grappled” with these issues and we are “grappling with them now.” This is what the Apostle Paul, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote about homosexuality:

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; – Romans 1:24 – 28.

There is no grappling or struggle with the issues. Paul calls gay intimacy “against nature” and the product of rebellion against God. For Jakes to incorrectly characterize Paul’s words demonstrates that he either does not understand the Bible or is willing to spout all manner of heresy just to avoid having to say that homosexuality is a sin.
The interviewer was clearly not satisfied with Jakes’ attempts at deflection and invited him to come back again for another sit down to discuss the issue further. It was quite apparent that Jakes was not going to answer the real question being posed: Was he ready to declare that homosexuality is no longer a sin?

Soon after the interview Jakes received criticism from Christian blogs for his statements. And Jakes issued a post on Facebook to “clarify” his remarks.

The Church Fell Asleep As Bible Prophesies Fulfill, Teachers/Preachers Miss A Terrific Opportunity To Use Events To Bring Souls To Christ.…

A light moment between the Pope and the Prez....
A light moment between the Pope and the Prez.…

Pope Francis came to America and the Nation stopped, People fell over themselves to kiss his ring others stood in line for hours to catch a glimpse of the Pontiff.
Francis’ first visit to America came after the American President Barack Obama paid him a visit at the seat of Catholicism at theVatican city.

No single event in my lifetime has generated such excitement neither has any event, other than the September 11th 2001 Terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC received such wall to wall television coverage. This, even as more and more evidence surfaces of countless cases of Priests sexually abusing little boys for decades, maybe more.

The United States Census Bureau Records give some startling statistics, backed up by denominational reports and the Assemblies of God U.S. Missions: Every year more than 4000 churches close their doors compared to just over 1000 new church starts!
That’s a 75% annual decline in the number of churches in the United States.
Every year, 2.7 million church members fall into inactivity. This translates into the realization that people are leaving the church. Research found that they are leaving as hurting and wounded victims-of some kind of abuse, disillusionment, or just plain neglect!

Does Jorge Mario Bergoglio have power to bestow blessings on other humans or is God Almighty alone able to bestow blessings?
Does Jorge Mario Bergoglio have power to bestow blessings on other humans or is God Almighty alone able to bestow blessings?

Nevertheless Americans and many more around the world are excited about Pope Francis.
What is behind this phenomenon ?
Many refer to him as a Liberal, others say he is transforming the Church into a more era sensitive Institution.
As such many are clamoring to be seen supporting his views.
Of course many of Francis’ views though sounding reasonably like Biblical teachings, tend to have a permissive slant all of his own.
The level of excitement generated and the media language is almost cloying in its effervescence over the Pontiff.
Religious and nonreligious alike claim him as their Pope. Round-table panelists gush flowery praise for Jorge Mario Bergoglio who seem to say and do all the right things.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer anchoring one leg of the wall to wall coverage stopped the conversation to point out to the Nation “he just stopped , and blessed that little girl right there, he just blessed that little girl”.
But does Jorge Mario Bergoglio have the power to bless anyone ?
When asked about Homosexuality prior to his American visit Jorge Mario Bergoglio asked Journalists “who am I to judge”?
Exactly what the world wants to hear !!!

Romans 1:26 – 28

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
Leviticus 18:22 — Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.
Jude 1:7 — Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
It’s perfectly Christ-like not to judge , but if one is a follower of Christ it is imperative that Christians do not compromise on sin but tell the world “thus sayeth the Lord”. For we are commanded to love the sinner but hate the sin.Claiming “who am I to judge is false teaching in that context.
Of course it is up to God to judge , but identifying sin is not judging. It is imperative that we are able to discern all sin and seek to avoid wilful sin. We must eschew and shun sin, for even though we sin we cannot be comfortable in sin. God is righteous, if we are comfortable in sin how can we hope to have a relationship with him?
God’s righteousness and sin cannot co-exist together, sin separates us from our creator.
Those who refuse to call sin what it is by telling us they cannot judge are changing the word of God to fool the world into believing we can come as we are and remain as we are.

Jesus’ Disciples did preach the unmitigated , unvarnished truth of his Gospel. According to the Bible they were all Martyred save for one. John the Baptist preached the truth of his coming he was executed before Jesus died. I am in no way suggesting that Christians should go out seeking Martyrdom but what kind of children of God are we if we fail to use our voices to lift up the lord?
What kind of Christians are we if we are afraid to speak the true word of God because we are concerned with what man may do to us.
I am more concerned about what will happen if I fail to tell those people within my sphere of influence of the Tribulation to come.

The Pontiff never bothered to mention what the Bible teaches on the subject. Merely saying “who am I to judge’. Coming from him that statement automatically gets construed and spun to mean the Pope agrees it’s okay.
Was he cognisant of that fact when he failed to reference the word of God choosing to merely inject his own views without Biblical authority?
He challenges Nations to be kind and compassionate to the poor , exactly the kind of language which will bring people to his side.

  • According to the World Bank’s most recent estimates, in 2011, 17 percent of people in the developing world lived at or below $1.25 a day. That’s down from 43 percent in 1990 and 52 percent in 1981.
  • This means that, in 2011, just over one billion people lived on less than $1.25 a day, compared with 1.91 billion in 1990, and 1.93 billion in 1981.
  • Progress has been slower at higher poverty lines. In all, 2.2 billion people lived on less than US $2 a day in 2011, the average poverty line in developing countries and another common measurement of deep deprivation. That is only a slight decline from 2.59 billion in 1981.
Of course people are going to be drawn to a message of helping the poor.….…

Two beasts are described in chapter 13, one from the sea (vs. 1) and one from the land (vs. 11). With the beast out of the sea, we come to that one who, regardless of his claims as the white horse rider or peace maker, comes as a great source of darkness into the world. He comes not to save the world, but to damn the world. In essence, what we have in this chapter in the rise of the beast and the false prophet is nothing short of the ‘trinity from hell’ in that both are the product of the machinations of that old serpent, the devil or Satan.19. The Beast and the False Prophet (Rev 13:1 – 18)19. The Beast and the False Prophet (Rev 13:1 – 18)

THE FALSE PROPHET AND IMAGE OF THE BEAST OF REVELATION Bible.net has this to say . The beast, as I have shown previously, is the Papacy or Roman Catholic Church. Revelation 19:20 is the key to identifying who the false prophet is. Here it associates the false prophet with miracles performed for the beast. This is a link to Rev 13:11 – 14 where the same miracles are performed by a second beast with two horns like a lamb, that speaks like a dragon. So this second lamb-like beast is also the false prophet.

Verse 12 is saying that the United States will combine Church and State and strictly enforce apostate Catholic religious doctrine, just like the Roman Catholic church did in the middle ages! Yes! The current effort on the part of evangelical Christians to “take back America” will succeed!

In Verse 13 it shows us that this revival of Church and State in the U.S. will be accompanied by great wonders (miracles). The fire coming down from heaven is a deceiving miracle, a false wonder, that may well refer to a counterfeit outpouring of the Holy Spirit! Already today a false manifestation of tongues, holy laughter etc. is sweeping churches in North America!

In verse 14 the lamb-like beast (the United States) promotes an image to the first beast (the Roman Catholic Church). When it says “an image to the (first) beast”, it means that the apostate Protestant movement in the United States will encourage the establishment of Church/State power, and legislate it’s religious agenda on everyone. It will be the mirror “image” of the satanic practices, policies and persecutions of the Roman Catholic Church of the Middle Ages.

So using false miracles as proof of it’s authority, the apostate Protestant church in the United States will take control of the government and pass religious legislation to enforce it’s agenda, and it will promote false Catholic doctrines. What false doctrines, you might ask?

1. When you are dead, you are not dead. Your conscious self or spirit waits at some bus stop (purgatory) between here and heaven. Here you are free to listen to the prayers of the living and forward these petitions for grace to Mary or Jesus.
- They cannot accept that the wages of sin is death. Death includes the loss of any consciousness of the mind. Those who are dead hear nothing and can do nothing, for themselves or anyone else.

2. Salvation is obtained through ministers or priests of the church. They have a bank account with Jesus and can dispense grace or forgiveness to those they favor. Conversely, they can cut off your source of forgiveness if you do not accept their unscriptural traditions.
- No church can dispense or withhold forgiveness, forgiveness is yours from God through faith.

3. They worship on a day chosen by a pagan emperor of Rome, Sunday, although there is absolutely NO scriptural evidence that Jesus commanded such a change in the Ten Commandments.
- The Sabbath is Saturday without question. It is a memorial to Jesus the Creator, who worked six days and rested on the seventh. To worship on any other day is to reject the Creator, reject God, reject Jesus. Whom do you worship if you reject the 10 commandments of God?

4. We are saved by good works. God is keeping track of everything we do and the sum total of our good works better add up to a bigger number than our sins. Even “good” people who have rejected Jesus, will by this logic, have a chance so long as their good works total is high enough.
- Your works amount to nothing without faith. By the same token, faith without works is a dead faith.

So the False Prophet is in fact, apostate Protestantism based in the United States. How do you recognize apostate religion? Try the following additional indicators, note that they are accompanied by a serious lack of meaningful scriptural study.

A. Theology that preaches that God is a loving God and most people will be saved if only they will just be good people. You will see a lot of country and western style gospel singers, a lot of praising Jesus and binding Satan, collecting the tithe, but precious little scripture study, and what little there is, is very shallow.

B. The happy Christian, it is O.K. to be rich, send us your seed money today and you will get it back 1000 fold, kind of religion. A primary focus on God rewarding his followers with earthly riches. If only you will send in your love gift, God will reward you financially. And by the way, we have some neat things to send you if you contribute today- (mostly tapes, books, plaques, glasses, sculptures, lifetime memberships, get your name engraved on the churches top givers plaque, etc.) You could almost call it the Christian Shopping Network. Did Jesus sell *anything* during His ministry? No- what He offered was not for sale, it was FREE!

C. A focus on miracle healing of the sick, prayer requests and again endless pleas for donations, just to stay on the air.

D. A mission of building a TV or Radio station empire, from which there is little or no bible study, just more pleas for cash during long telethons, and praising Jesus. Usually broadcast from multi-million dollar lavish studios with lots of expensive decorations.

Am I saying Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the Beast of Revelation ? I will allow Bible Prophesy and your spirit of discernment to decide. Some who seek the Lord have gone further than I am prepared to go. What I do know is what the Scriptures says.

Pope Francis is seeking to unify all faiths to achieve “peace and safety.”
Pope Francis is seeking to unify all faiths to achieve “peace and safety.”

Never before have we seen the Catholic Church seek to unify all religions . In an apparent effort to unify all faiths under one world religion Pope Francis took unprecedented steps by hosting a series of interfaith gatherings at the Vatican which saw Muslim prayers given from the pulpit for the first time in its history.

The website Beginningandend.com The Coming One World Religion – Pope Francis Hosts Muslim Prayers At Vatican makes the case that the Pontiff’s actions is all prophesied in Scriptures as the coming one World Religionof the Anti Christ.

Quote :“The Pope’s efforts while seemingly noble, are in complete contradiction to Bible Scripture. But as Biblical Christianity is being abandoned in the contemporary church, public displays of “spiritual unity” will become more common. It is all prophesied in Scripture as the world moves closer to the coming one world religion of the Antichrist”.

The Pope has also supported a division of Israel and Jerusalem.
The Pope has also supported a division of Israel and Jerusalem.

Pope Francis waded into Middle East peace-making this evening by welcoming both the Israeli and Palestinian presidents to the Vatican for an evening of prayers.
Israeli President Shimon Peres was the first to arrive at the Vatican hotel where Pope Francis lives, followed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Francis warmly greeted both and met privately with each one before heading out to the Vatican garden for the service.

It took place in the Vatican gardens in the shadow of St. Peter’s Basilica, the most religiously neutral place in the tiny city-state. It incorporated Jewish, Christian and Muslim prayers – delivered in Hebrew, English, Arabic and Italian.
The prayers focused on three themes common to each of the religions: thanking God for creation, seeking forgiveness for past wrongdoing and praying to God to bring peace to the region.
Francis, Peres and Abbas were expected to deliver brief remarks, shake hands and plant an olive tree together in a sign of peace. The spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians was also present to give a united Christian front.

Beginningandend.com went on to say.
While the desire for peace in the Middle East is a noble cause, no Bible believing Christian should ever confuse political goals with the spiritual commands of God. While Christians can socialize, work with and conduct political negotiations with people of all faiths, religious activity is to be exclusively done in a Biblical manner. From the first commandment God gave to Moses, The Lord’s stance on joining in the worship of any of other god is clear:

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;Exodus 20:1 – 5.

Francis coming to America represents the coming together of Church and State in a one World Religion. It is an apostate which will remove God Almighty as the head of the Church replacing him with the Devil and his representatives here on earth.
The Evangelical christian Church is blind to this phenomenon many Preachers and Teachers of the Gospel are too busy teaching prosperity and happiness theology.
The Church misses a terrific opportunity to use Biblical prophecy to bring souls to Christ Jesus.
The Christian faith is the only faith which has prophetic words which tells us with immaculate accuracy how events will unfold.
Yet many Preachers of the Gospel are doing nothing to warn the flock.
Jeremiah 51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.
Babylon is not a city as some of us Christians are led to believe . The Babylon spoken of here is the fallen Church . Christians will have to come out of the fallen Church. The Church which is preoccupied with telling Parishioners how to attain wealth and happiness is lost . It is a Satanic doctrine which is not borne out in the teachings of Christ . Therefor as Jeremiah 51: 6 says, we must, all of us , “deliver every man his soul”.

JCF Welcomes New Chief Chaplain

Pastor Gary Buddoo-Fletcher
Pastor Gary Buddoo-Fletcher

MANCHESTER, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Force yesterday welcomed a new chief chaplain at an affirmation service on the grounds of the Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville, Manchester.

He is Pastor Gary Buddoo-Fletcher, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The new chaplain takes over from Bishop Gary Welsh, who now heads the Community Safety and Security Branch.

According to a release from the police’s Corporate Communication Unit (CCU), Buddoo-Fletcher enrolled as a volunteer Chaplain in 2012 and thereafter became a certified member of the JCF. In 2014 he was asked to fill the position of Acting Assistant Chaplain for the Area One Division. His outstanding work and dedication to the force led to him being appointed chief force chaplain, the release added.

The chief chaplain will now take up his post and serve the Force along with the eight other Force Chaplains under his command. “I am honored to serve God, my community and the JCF in this capacity. I will do my best to give ethical, moral and spiritual support to the men and women of the JCF and their families and who serve, protect and reassure citizens of our country,’’ said the ACP.

PUBLISHER’S NOTE.
This Article is not exactly clear !!!
Despite the critical need for counselling of the highest calibre for police officers I do not believe that it has to be wrapped in the packaging of an Assistant Commissioner of police.
One does not have to be a member of the Police Department to be a part of the support structure. There are to the best of recollection 12 Assistant Commissioners of Police . It makes sense that those ranks be made available to police officers who have paid their dues to aspire to.
Those few ranks ought to be preserved for Career Police officers who have toiled for years and paid their dues showing competency and commitment.

The JCF presently has a force of over 14,000 officers if the number of 12 assistant commissioners is still correct it means that it is incredibly difficult to reach those ranks. If these positions are handed out as trophies, regardless of the value others offer to the service it does a tremendous disservice to the hard working people who take the risks and brave the bullets.
Daily we hear about doing things in new ways one thing I recall learning is that you never throw out the baby with the bath water, you don’t fix what’s not broken.
Some of the complaints I have heard from members of the force is disenfranchisement, nepotism, demoralization, and a general lack of confidence that the Force cares about officers.
This may be evidenced by the suicide rates we are witnessing in the force.
The JCF should be mindful that in the quest to adopt things new, simply for the sake of doing so,that it does not adopt a fix which is actually contributing to the problem.

EMBATTLED Member of Parliament for St Ann South Eastern Lisa Hanna was yesterday selected by delegates to return as the representative for the People’s National Party (PNP) in upcoming parliamentary elections as the challenge mounted to her leadership fizzled amidst a quarrel over the voters’ list.

Hanna, whose stewardship of the constituency came under heavy scrutiny in recent months, was challenged by Councillor Lydia Richards (Bensonton Division).

Of the 484 delegates who participated in the selection exercise, 468 voted for Hanna, 10 voted for Richards, while six votes were spoilt. A total of 1,056 delegates were eligible to vote.

Richards, who had expressed concerns over the voters’ list, was a no-show. She told the Jamaica Observer by phone yesterday that she had indicated to the party’s Secretariat that she was not comfortable with the list.

There are too many inaccuracies and I have been writing to the general secretary back and forth about this. When he gave me the list on Friday, nothing was changed. He did not even look into one of the things that I mentioned,” Richards argued.

I could not contest with that, but I’m still there. So I’m hoping that they will come to their senses and realise that you cannot move forward with lies,” she said.

Richards charged that, even with her concerns, the party’s Secretariat had not contacted her, but decided to move forward with the voting.

PNP delegates wait in line to vote yesterday.

I am not coming,” she said.

Chief among her concerns was the argument that people were listed as being members of groups to which they had no knowledge. It was further alleged that people’s signatures were also forged to indicate that they were members of these groups.

The Jamaica Observer sought clarity on the matter and was told by PNP Deputy General Secretary Julian Robinson that up to Saturday Richards had indicated that she would participate.

You cannot operate in a flux. Up to yesterday (Saturday) Lydia indicated that she would be participating, which is why there are two names on the ballot,” Robinson said.

I am here to conduct a selection exercise and that is what I am here to do today,” an obviously annoyed Robinson added.

Voting began promptly at 10:00 am and progressed steadily and without incident until three minutes to 4 o’clock when the gates were officially closed.

Scores of Hanna supporters streamed into Ferncourt High School in Claremont in the parish, while there was no noticeable support for the councillor, with some Hanna supporters insisting that Richards was hiding.

You can’t swap black dog fi monkey,” said Donna Thomas, a Hanna supporter.

Ah town mi come all di way from fi support Lisa. Ah she fi win. She a beauty, and she is for young people,” said one woman who gave her name as Lilith.

Other Hanna supporters echoed similar sentiments, insisting that she was doing “a good” job in the constituency.

Weh Lydia she come from? She si power and want power, but she haffi wait her turn,” another Hanna supporter shouted.

Several party stalwarts were also present, including veteran Senator K D Knight, John Junor, Member of Parliament for St Catherine Eastern Denise Daley, Region Six Chairman Ian Hayles, former treasurer of the party Norman Horne, and Member of Parliament for St Mary Western Joylan Silvera.

In the meantime, Hanna, who is not enjoying the support of three of four councillors, yesterday told the Observer she was confident of victory at the polls.

Following the announcement, Hanna said: “I am just very grateful. I am thankful to everyone who participated, particularly those group members and Comrades in South East St Ann who came out today, and [I am] thanking my team members and the PNP on the whole.

It has been a very humbling and sobering experience, but at the same time a great experience. It has reconfirmed and bolstered my love and support for my people in St Ann,” Hanna said to loud chants of “Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!”

As to how the two-term member of parliament plans to address the obvious divide within the constituency? Hanna remains mum.

We’ll tell you a little more about that, but right now we’re just thankful and we’re just going to settle down and go and enjoy ourselves a little bit,” she told the Observer.

Hanna will now await ratification from the party’s executive council, which is the highest decision-making body outside of its annual conference, before she can be put forward as the candidate.

Tact And Common Sense Still Vital Tools Of Policing

mb
mb

Policing is as much using common sense in the way officers protect the public as it is enforcing the nation’s laws . There is no one right way to fight crime so it’s a process of learning and growing, something which is markedly missing from policing in Jamaica these days.
Having spent almost a decade of my life policing the streets valleys and by-ways of Jamaica I learned it can be the most difficult place to police based on the propensity of some of the people to be belligerent and disrespectful to the rule of law but I also found out just how loving, kind and good Jamaicans could be during that decade.

One of my philosophies as a young officer was that you stop something before it gets too big after which you cannot control it. Unfortunately this hasn’t always been the mantra of the high command in my time and it certainly wasn’t the core belief of some cops who saw no evil , heard no evil but certainly spoke a lot of evil.
As time progressed we saw way too many got involved in evil.
Over the last few years we heard some rather contrarian views on how crime is to be approached as if criminality is a new phenomenon .

Of course criminals evolve as does the rest of us. Cyber crimes are now something law enforcement agencies are forced to grapple with . This was not on the menu of things law enforcement had to deal with three decades ago. Nonetheless, even as Police departments acquire and train competent people so they may stay ahead of criminals, for the most part law enforcement still require common sense and a lot of give and take.

Police remove vendors from streets downtown Kingston..
Police remove vendors from streets downtown Kingston..

When you stop the first guy selling “bag weed” on the corner you prevent another and another from coming there to do the same.
If you allow one guy to sell bag weed on the corner because it’s just weed right?[sic] you will later have to deal with the fallout from competing guys vying for turf.
Guys vying for turf use guns to defend turf , so now you have to deal with shootings and homicides.
Additionally other dealers of more potent drugs now see the free for all and they decide they too will peddle their wares and of course people are now addicted to the hard core drugs.
When people are addicted they rob , they steal. Cars are broken into . Houses are broken into. People are held up at gunpoint, female addicts turn once pristine neighborhoods into dens of prostitution.
All of this would have been averted if the Police did their job and stopped the first guy from selling bag weed on the corner.
To hell with stopping people food . Just look at where not stopping people’s food got Jamaica. I wish I had a dollar for each time I heard Police officers who were paid to enforce the laws openly deride officers who actually do what they are paid to do. It is not cruelty to save people from themselves. And yes Police sometimes have to save people and their communities from themselves.

Street vendors in Kingston
Street vendors in Kingston

Nevertheless during my time I was able to extract a valuable stream of actionable intelligence from a few of those who sell weed on the corner.
Here’s how !!!
Many a guy on the corner selling Icy-Mint , Cigarettes, Red Stripe Beer and even coconut jelly was also selling Ganga !!!
My method was to stop and order a jelly upon which the man would cut it and give it to me. I would sit down with him tell him that I know he is selling weed. This would almost certainly evoke howls of “no affica no sah , mi nah sell nu weed sah” !!.
I then tell him okay I will search everything you have and every inch of grass in sight when I find it you cannot come back to sell anything here tomorrow.
For the cynics yes you can do it the Town and Community Act gives Police wide latitude .……
This resulted in resignation 100% of the time “okay affica whe you wan mi fi du fi yu”.
My response , I want to know everything that goes on here , if you don’t tell me you sell nothing here anymore.
“Okay affica”.
The same is true of the squeegee man, they want to operate make them informers.

Squeegee man operating at will
Squeegee man operating at will

I then pay for my Jelly and leave. Yes I pay for my jelly , it is important that you have character if you want to be respected and if you want them to do what you ask.
Those who served with me know this is no idle talk we knew who committed every criminal act in our police area because we had a network of willing informants.
Now deceased Supt Of Police Anthony Hewitt called me to his office as head of crime police area 5 and marvelled at the quality of intelligence I was able to glean using simple common sense techniques.
Ever month DSP Hewitt gave me an envelope with a twenty dollar bill to enhance the process .
Back then twenty dollars could buy a few drink of whites for some of my informants.

I want to see police officers in Jamaica get back in touch and endear themselves to the public again we did it before it can be done again. During the 80’s and early 90’s there were other factors at play it wasn’t just policing which kept crime at a minimum , then we had 300 homicides per year we thought the skies were falling.
Today Jamaica records an average of 1600 homicides each year and people shrug as if it is par for the course.
I wish they could actually see the bodies of 1600 dead relatives friends and friends of friends laid out side by side , maybe that would have add shock value, who knows ?

A case of simple robbery involving a Clerk of the courts at the Spanish Town Court house in Saint Catherine has the Minister of Justice Mark Golding confirming that Permanent Secretary in the Justice Ministry, Carol Palmer, has been tasked to renew discussions with the Police High Command to see what else can be done to improve security.
The Director of Public Prosecution has weighed in by calling for greater security to be put in place to protect prosecutors and support staff.
Not to be outdone the Permanent Secretary in the Justice Ministry Carol Palmer said every effort is being made to relocate a number of courthouses and the Spanish Town courthouse is high on the list. Palmer indicated that the Ministry has already identified property in Central Village on the outskirts of Spanish Town, St Catherine, for the relocation of the Spanish Town Courthouse.

All of this hoopla came out of a single incident in which a female Deputy DPP was in the process of removing files from her car outside the courthouse when a man approached her and demanded money. She complied and the man left. A case of simple robbery !!!
No mention of a weapon of any kind, a robbery notwithstanding because the victim handed over her property out of fear.
There is no evidence that the Clerk was targeted because she is a clerk, from all indications the robbery was simply a random act because the opportunity presented itself to the perpetrator.
Jamaicans of all walks of life are exposed to these acts of violence daily. In the majority of the cases victims are subjected to egregious acts of violence associated with other acts of criminality upon their persons. Under no circumstances do we hear a response from the Justice Minister, his permanent secretary nor the Director of Public Prosecution weighing in all at the same time.
This act of simple robbery has evoked responses which includes actions as drastic as removing the Courthouse from it’s present location to one deemed safer.
Even though those plans may have well been in the works making that argument now in this instance shows us two things>
(1) That Justice is quite prepared to cower in fear and seek greater protection from those who would wreak mayhem on society , rather than take decisive actions to fix the nation’s crime problem , using a heavy hand if necessary .
(2) That some lives matter significantly more than others .

Thus far this year over 800 Jamaicans met their deaths at the hand of criminals. Additionally several Police officers have been killed both in the line of duty and off duty.

Neither was there any words of assurance for the family of constable Lyndon Barrett.
If our nation is to move forward this sense that some lives matter more than others must come to an end .This sense of panic surrounding a case of simple robbery involving a prosecutor as against the callous murder of over 800 citizens involving police officers must also come to an end.

No life is more important that the other. So the (“dutty foot man pon di cana is jus as important as di man from cherry garden”).
This disgusting practise of valuing some lives while undervaluing others must end now. Certainly people who earn a living from taxpayers dollars should not be allowed to promulgate that practise.
It’s time for the Government to take a stand against criminality beginning with criminals within in it’s own ranks. There is a common perception that the reason crime has overrun the country is directly linked to the criminals within the Governing administration and indeed within the opposition party.
On that basis maybe it’s time International lending Agencies tie the granting of loans to Governments like that in Jamaica to demonstrable dedication to eliminating crime and corruption from within their ranks and nations as a whole.
No coöperation on the eradication of crime and corruption no loan. The single largest impediment to the development of Jamaica is it’s serious crime problem which is having a crippling effect on commerce and subsequently the quality of life in Jamaica.
