A special police tactical team has been deployed to Montego Bay, St James with a mandate to target the main perpetrators of violence in the crime-ravaged city.
“This team has not hit the road since the 2010 operation in west Kingston and it has been given the duty to target the ‘big fishes’ who are the ones with the money to buy the high-priced, high-powered weapons which we are seeing in the hands of the criminals,” a senior police officer told The Gleaner a short while ago. “This team is different from the other formations that are on the ground working with the military to restore law and order to the city. The team is going to get the major players,” added the cop. Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams is slated to tour some of the more crime-ravaged communities in and around Montego Bay today before hosting a media briefing where he is expected to announce additional plans to reduce the murders in St James. http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/news/20160928/just-special-police-tactical-team-deployed-crime-plagued-mobay
