Sybrina Fulton, the moth­er of Trayvon Martin, and Valerie Bell, the moth­er of Sean Bell, Arrived in St Louis Missouri on Sunday August 24^th, they were there to lend sup­port to the par­ents of Michael Brown.. Irrespective of where you live , if you are tuned into events there is no ques­tion of who these women are.

Fulton and Bell were among a group of fam­i­ly and friends who showed up for a pri­vate view­ing of Brown’s body before his bur­ial on Monday. The list of fathers and moth­ers who have lost their chil­dren to vio­lence is nev­er-end­ing. Those los­ing their chil­dren to police and vig­i­lante killings is get­ting just as long.

On Monday the body of Michael Brown will be laid to rest. Just 18 years old, cut down, gone too soon. Like Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell and count­less name­less, face­less, oth­ers who met a sim­i­lar demise Michael Brown will become anoth­er statistic.

We don’t know if his death will change any­thing. Maybe it will ‚maybe it won’t. As a par­ent of young men, one of whom recent­ly went home to be with the Lord , I can only imag­ine the pain these par­ents feel. Nothing will ever be the same again , their whole out­look on life for­ev­er changed.

We cry with these par­ents, we feel their pain. No par­ent should have to bury their child, cer­tain­ly not this way. As we strug­gle to come to grips with this fam­i­ly’s grief , we are mind­ful of the many issues that sur­round his pass­ing. Race, black respon­si­bil­i­ty, Police vio­lence, Black on black vio­lence, and of course those who sup­port the killing of the Michael Browns of America, sim­ply because of the col­or of their skin. When we talk about young men being killed because of the col­or of their skin we do not deny they may have done some­thing wrong. We make no judge­ment about inno­cence or guilt. What we argue is some­one of a dif­fer­ent hue would not have received the death penal­ty, imposed and exe­cut­ed by those who appoint them­selves judge ‚jury and executioner.

America locked up Jeffery Dammer, con­vict­ed of mass mur­der and can­ni­bal­ism. She locked up Terrorists who kill thou­sands of our peo­ple in cow­ard­ly attacks. We do not need our peo­ple killed for sell­ing un-taxed cig­a­rettes, jay-walk­ing or for being men­tal­ly unsta­ble while hold­ing a knife.

The President said if he had a son he would be like Trayvon Martin. The Attorney General tells of being harassed in a Washington Suburb because he was deemed by police to have the wrong col­or to be in that neigh­bor­hood. At the time he was a Federal Prosecutor. Ben Ward New

York City’s first black Police Commissioner was harassed in Manhattan by men under his com­mand who did not even know their own Commissioner. Henry Lewis Gates Harvard Professor arrest­ed at his own home because of the col­or of his skin.

Some naïve­ly believe cars, homes and jobs insu­lates them from abuse. So they heap scorn and deri­sion on those so abused . Simply because their day has not yet come. We salute these brave women who have trav­eled hun­dreds of miles to show sup­port to the Brown fam­i­ly , to hug and cry with them, be com­fort­ed in the Lord God know­ing that he is the final judge.

Irrespective of our short­com­ings , our fail­ure to come togeth­er, our per­pet­u­al state of pover­ty, no one deserves to die, shot down like an ani­mal and left there for hours in the swel­ter­ing heat. That’s what’s at issue here. To those who talk from their lofty perch­es , look­ing down on these vic­tims , I ask where is your human­i­ty ? Where is the God in you? Do you think you and yours are exempt? You are delu­sion­al. It’s insult­ing to insin­u­ate that respect for laws will keep you safe. It’s arro­gant to assume those who died had no respect for the laws.

Pull up your pants. Don’t run when you see police. Don’t talk back to police. Why? None of these things have kept black men safe. Why should our chil­dren com­port to the fears and inse­cu­ri­ties of school-yard bul­lies whose only self worth is cen­tered in a gun and a badge? Why are they crim­i­nals because of the col­or of their skin? Too many have died who did noth­ing wrong. My chal­lenge to you elit­ists is get up to speed on your his­to­ry, maybe it will offer a lit­tle per­spec­tive. Perspective which hope­ful­ly will bring some mea­sure of humility.

We can talk about black on black crime, we can talk about any issue, just not now. This is about the killing of Michael Brown, and Eric Garner, and Sean Bell, And Amadou Diallo, and Kijiame Powell, and, count­less oth­ers, killed by those who should pro­tect and serve.

The New York Post said it sided with the NYPD in the killing of Eric Garner. It labeled every man woman and child who marched across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge into Staten Island Saturday last, Rabble . In that crowd were Doctors and Lawyers, Teachers, nurs­es, busi­ness pro­fes­sion­als. They did not care about the sta­tion of any­one in that crowd. To them it was a Rabble. That is their per­cep­tion of black life. We can no longer allow them to make deci­sions on our val­ue. We are infe­ri­or no no one.

In Ferguson Missouri white pro­test­ers gath­ered in sup­port of Darren Wilson, they cared noth­ing about the killing of Michael Brown. Their spokes­woman declared, Darren Wilson was jus­ti­fied in what he did. Case closed . Irrespective of the evi­dence or the cir­cum­stances of this killing ‚to them Wilson was jus­ti­fied. It does­n’t mat­ter whether Darren Wilson crossed the line from Cop to Criminal. Michael Brown had no right Darren Wilson was oblig­at­ed to respect. It was­n’t too long ago their law stat­ed blacks had no rights a white per­son had to respect, deja-vu.

On January 1, 1923 a mas­sacre was car­ried out in the small, pre­dom­i­nate­ly black town of Rosewood in Central Florida. The mas­sacre was insti­gat­ed by the rumor that a white woman, was raped by a black man. What did any­one expect from these protesters?

Those white pro­test­ers I don’t mind. Hate is what hate pro­duces . They are what they are. [sic] It was only after the Civil war that Europe’s mur­der­ers, Rapists and oth­er crim­i­nal garbage were no longer dumped here. The sins of the fathers vis­it the third and fourth generations.

What I find con­temptible are the self loathing house ser­vants who still shuck and jive to the tune of their slave mas­ters, will­ing to kill their own to please mas­sa, that’s offensive.

Today Saturday August 23^rd, there are protest Rallies in Ferguson Missouri, and Staten Island New York. African-Americans gath­ered in dis­gust over the con­tin­ued slaugh­ter of black and brown men by police in America.

These protest ral­lies are about the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown of Ferguson Missouri and 43-year-old Eric Garner of Staten Island New York. These Rallies should also be about the killing of 26-year-old Kajieme Powell, who was bru­tal­ly slaugh­tered by St Louis coun­ty police, 23 sec­onds after arriv­ing at the scene where Powell was wan­der­ing around, obvi­ous­ly suf­fer­ing from men­tal issues.

Powell did have a knife but trained offi­cers could have adopt­ed any of a slew of options avail­able to them. They had batons, mace and taz­ers .Powell alleged­ly yelled, “Shoot me, kill me now!”  They opt­ed not to use any of those non-lethal options, choos­ing instead to pump sev­er­al bul­lets into the body of the dis­turbed Powell, killing him sec­onds after they arrived.

This total­ly uncalled for esca­la­tion by the two cops was demon­stra­bly the essence of what goes on in cities and Towns all across America. Those cops placed no val­ue on the lives of Kajieme Powell, as they did not on those of Garner and Brown. They had a cal­lous and bla­tant dis­re­gard for the life of those they killed

Some so-called black lead­ers, includ­ing an elect­ed rep­re­sen­ta­tive bragged that St Louis was not Ferguson, when Powell was killed. Yet he lacked the most basic under­stand­ing of how and when Police can legal­ly use lethal force.

Kajieme Powell was mur­dered. Yes he had a knife. There were oth­er ways to sub­due him with­out tak­ing his life.

Those who defend Eric Garner and Michael Brown must also defend the life of Kajieme Powell, who clear­ly need­ed help not bullets.

The Protest ral­lies for Brown were not the only show in town. Supporters of Ferguson Cop Darren Wilson, also held their own ral­ly, they have raised huge sums of mon­ey in sup­port of what they believe will be a Wilson crim­i­nal defense. These peo­ple have a right to do what they want­ed, it’s their right.

What I find nau­se­at­ing, is that like the Rabid racists who spew their racist bile on FOX and the oth­er bot­tom feed­ers on talk radio, these Wilson sup­port­ers show no recog­ni­tion of the issue being protest­ed , the killing of unarmed black and brown men by police across America.

Their actions are symp­to­matic of a time passed, when black men would be lynched while the crowds cheered on those doing the phys­i­cal lynch­ing. How dif­fer­ent are defend­ers of killer-cops from those who cheered these lynch­ings back in the 60’s , 50’s and beyond?

They stood and cheered while the bod­ies of black peo­ple were muti­lat­ed and burned for no oth­er rea­son than the col­or of their skin. They are doing it today under the guise of sup­port­ing police and a need for jus­tice.

Their idea of jus­tice is every­one else doing what they demand.

“If you are neu­tral in sit­u­a­tions of injus­tice, you have cho­sen the side of the oppres­sor. If an ele­phant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neu­tral, the mouse will not appre­ci­ate your neu­tral­i­ty.”

One of the prob­lem with our peo­ple is our propen­si­ty to want to move on . What are we mov­ing on from ? What has changed since the 60s when they stood and cheered while our peo­ple were lynched ? Have you heard any of them ref­er­ence the issue which is front and cen­ter here? No their signs call for peace, what they want is for blacks to shut up and go away. Peace for them is dom­i­na­tion of black and brown peo­ple by white police , the more bru­tal the better.

There are things which blacks will invari­ably have to come to terms with in America. Chief among them is an under­stand­ing that their stand­ing in America will depend on them. You sim­ply can­not depend on the chil­dren and grand­chil­dren of those who killed and bru­tal­ized you to have your inter­est at heart. In poll after poll there is a marked dis­con­nect between how whites view the prob­lems which are crit­i­cal­ly ger­mane to blacks. At best whites are pre­dis­posed to blam­ing blacks for what­ev­er injus­tice is met­ed out to them. At worse they sup­port those who abuse us. When you view the age make­up of those who sup­port Darren Wilson you real­ize white racism is not going away. Blacks will have to make it go so deep under­ground it can­not grow. White Racism will not be sup­pressed if we kill each oth­er. It embold­ens them to cheap­en our lives.

White racism will not be sup­pressed if we con­tin­ue to shirk the oppor­tu­ni­ties avail­able to be edu­cat­ed. They are edu­cat­ing their chil­dren. The President men­tioned the lack of job oppor­tu­ni­ties in many urban cen­ters , its impor­tant to have jobs, how­ev­er hav­ing a job does not insu­late a black man or woman from police abuse. Henry Louis Gates not­ed Harvard Professor was­n’t unemployed.

African Americans con­tin­ue to skirt around the real issues on the rare occa­sions they get the mega­phone. Lights , cam­era, action, they fail to make their own case for respect. They fall into the trap of adopt­ing the buzz terms their oppres­sors design to fit  peo­ple who come in to help them.

George Wallace and Bull O’Connor labeled Dr, King an out­side agi­ta­tor, Fox and oth­ers label peo­ple going into Ferguson to show their sol­i­dar­i­ty with demon­stra­tors out­side agi­ta­tors. Shockingly, some of the black demon­stra­tors have unwit­ting­ly gob­bled up this phys­i­o­log­i­cal term which has only one intent , that of mar­gin­al­iz­ing and weak­en­ing the protest action. Sure there were oppor­tunis­tic crim­i­nals there, they are every­where. Most crimes are crimes of opportunity.

Those who were loot­ing and com­mit­ting oth­er acts of crim­i­nal­i­ty were the respon­si­bil­i­ty of the Ferguson Police and oth­er Agencies brought in to sup­press the Rights of cit­i­zens who were exer­cis­ing their first amend­ment rights . Instead of pro­tect­ing the rights of cit­i­zens to express them­selves freely, those agen­cies resort­ed to gestapo tac­tics, bru­tal­iz­ing and dis­re­spect­ing them.

Despite the dis­gust­ing behav­ior, (words and deeds) of cops on the ground, the rep­re­hen­si­ble Facebook post of oth­ers ‚and the bru­tal­i­ty they admin­is­tered to pro­test­ers and jour­nal­ists alike, there are peo­ple out there sup­port­ing them.

If you are a black per­son who have white friends who are sup­port­ive of these lynch­ings they are not your friends. If you speak out and take action against these mur­der­ing cops and your friends shun you, bid them a hap­py good­bye ‚they were not your friends.

Secure the future of your chil­dren and grand­chil­dren before you wor­ry about what oth­ers think of you.

In these pages we repeat­ed­ly write about the mil­i­ta­riza­tion of police depart­ments all across America. We did not hear any­thing from the main stream media about this grow­ing trend, until this mas­sive buildup of mil­i­tary type power(not police) in Ferguson Missouri. CNN, MSNBC and oth­ers are just now awak­en­ing to the shock­ing impli­ca­tions of this.

This mas­sive mil­i­ta­riza­tion of America’s streets is noth­ing new. After the Boston Marathon Bombing ‚the world saw in shock­ing detail what the Right wing in America was warn­ing about all along.

The Right wing is silent about the takeover of America’s streets by, what for all accounts is mil­i­tary, not police. Apart from the bob­ble-heads on FOX ‚despite it’s pre­dic­tions com­ing to fruition the Right is deaf­en­ing­ly silent.

No sur­prise there, as long as the jack-boot­ed throngs with the sophis­ti­cat­ed mil­i­tary hard­ware are run­ning around killing and keep­ing the Blacks on the Reservation, the racist imbe­ciles on the right are satisfied.

However ‚this is not just about the imbe­ciles on the Right , it is also about the imbe­ciles on the left. What did they think would hap­pen when they gave all of that sur­plus mil­i­tary hard­ware to small town police depart­ments, many of which are staffed with semi-lit­er­ate Klans-men and women? 

The prob­lems which exist between peo­ple of African ances­try and the crim­i­nal jus­tice sys­tem in America are deep and sophis­ti­cat­ed. Cops, Prosecutors, Juries, Judges, in many local­i­ties in America , it’s their world , every­one else lives in it. Justice is what they say it is.

The Ferguson police demon­strat­ed that it did not care what any­one thought about the way it han­dled affairs there, after one of it’s Agents cre­at­ed the sit­u­a­tion which present­ly exist.

Just yes­ter­day anoth­er African-American male was killed only a few miles from where Michael Brown was slaugh­tered and left in the broil­ing heat face down in his own blood for over five hours. Police in St Louis killed the 23 year-old who is report­ed­ly of unsound mind., just days on the heels of the ques­tion­able killing of Michael Brown. they said was act­ing erratically.

Police account:

Cops arrived, the sus­pect turned towards the offi­cers and start­ed to walk towards them clutch­ing his waist­band. He then pulled out a knife … and told the offi­cers, ‘Shoot me now. Kill me now,’ ” Reported Police Chief Sam Dotson. Responding offi­cers told the man, repeat­ed­ly, to stop and drop his knife, Dotson said. He con­tin­ued to approach, com­ing with­in about four feet of one of the offi­cers, Dotson said, adding that both offi­cers then fired their weapons, strik­ing the suspect.

The media quick­ly gob­bled up the PR stunt of Dotson and moved on. One reporter asked whether the cops who pulled the trig­ger were mind­ful of the sit­u­a­tion only a few miles away in Suburban Ferguson.?

Dotson retorted,quote ‚If you’re the fam­i­ly of a police offi­cer and some­body approach­es you with­in three feet with a knife, I think you have the right to defend your­self and pro­tect your­self. So I think it cer­tain­ly is rea­son­able that an offi­cer has an expec­ta­tion to go home at the end of the night,” .

The reporter did not both­er to fol­low up. Clearly it is rea­son­able that cops go home after their shift, in fact I have had many heat­ed con­ver­sa­tions with peo­ple who do not care whether cops go home as long as they do not step out of line. Dotson’s com­ments how­ev­er was an insult to peo­ples intel­li­gence. This sto­ry was swept under the rug because the life of the deceased is not valued.

No one both­ered to ask whether the trig­ger-hap­py cops could sim­ply have tazed the guy and take him to a Hospital. It would occur to me that if some­one is act­ing in an errat­ic man­ner , walk­ing up and down , say­ing shoot me, shoot me, clear­ly some­thing is wrong men­tal­ly. What about your taz­er? What about your pep­per spray? What about your baton? What about your train­ing? Or are you trained to pre­tend to observe the rules then kill?

What goes through the minds of these cops when they decide­ly pull the trig­ger and end some­one’s only life? Is there some­thing going on with police which the pub­lic is bliss­ful­ly unaware of?

Are they train­ing these cops to be mind­less robot­ic killers? I believe they are.

This killing like so many oth­ers will fade away into the next news cycle , in fact it did not even make the loop. The fact is cops should use lethal force as absolute­ly the last resort in defense of their own lives or that of anoth­er. Cops are giv­en taz­ers, pep­per spray, batons , train­ing, and they are giv­en guns. Society can­not con­tin­ue to allow cops to grab for a gun kill some­one and get away with it .

These two cops would not have shot a white male period.

Eric Holder the Nation’s chief law enforce­ment offi­cer is sched­uled to be in Ferguson Missouri today. At Martha’s Vineyard a vaca­tion­ing Barack Obama will receive reports from Holder first-hand, about the real­i­ties on the ground . It bears men­tion­ing that both President Obama and Attorney General Holder are black males. Nothing that Obama or Holder does will change the dis­re­spect­ful behav­ior of police toward the black community .

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. National Action Network. American Civil Liberties Union. National Urban League. Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Rainbow push. The list goes on and on . There are no short­age of Civil Rights Organizations in America .Where are they ? Why are the peo­ple of Ferguson stand­ing alone in the face of thug­gish Police aggression?

Whats hap­pen­ing in Ferguson Missouri is not iso­lat­ed. This is a much small­er part of a larg­er pic­ture of abuse and undue aggres­sion by Police all across America. The killing of Michael Brown is just the lat­est in a life­time of abuse by thug­gish cops in America. The pat­tern of abu­sive behav­ior by police have been going on for decades. There is a part of the soci­ety which turns a blind eye and pre­tend it’s not hap­pen­ing, because it’s not hap­pen­ing to them. In case after case, they kill and abuse black men and even women, then use char­ac­ter assas­si­na­tion essen­tial­ly turn­ing vic­tims into crim­i­nals. Criminalizing the victims.

The lat­est nar­ra­tive com­ing out of Ferguson is that Micheal Brown rushed at the Cop who killed him. Of course they do this using plants who spread mis­in­for­ma­tion and char­ac­ter assas­si­na­tion. We heard the same nar­ra­tive in the Trayvon Martin case. A woman is now report­ed to have told a Radio Station that Micheal Brown strug­gled with the Cop, Darren Wilson for his weapon. She report­ed that Wilson told her this soon after the shoot­ing of Brown. Witnesses to the killing gave a vast­ly dif­fer­ent account of the events.

♦What are the chances Wilson called a female civil­ian friend to detail his account of events a lit­tle while after killing Brown?

♦ Who believes Michael Brown reached into a Police car to get the gun of Darren Wilson, which for all intents and pur­pos­es should have been in his hol­ster, while he sat in the car?

The Media is com­plic­it in the spread of this, they pick­up this mis­in­for­ma­tion and loop it until it is woven into the nar­ra­tive. It is looped until the lie becomes the nar­ra­tive. The Cop ulti­mate­ly walk free until the next killing and we go through the cycle again.

The lat­est attempt to jus­ti­fy killing Micheal Brown fell flat on it’s face in my esti­ma­tion. It shows that the Police is out­right lying to cov­er up what is an ille­gal killing. A cop can­not just kill some­one because he feels like it, par­tic­u­lar­ly if the per­son is unarmed. We do not know what pre­cip­i­tat­ed the killing of Brown. What we do know is that the atti­tudes of Police when they deal with peo­ple of col­or is dif­fer­ent than the way they deal with whites.

CNN this morn­ing looked at the cop who gunned down Michael Brown, one of the ques­tions asked of the cops friends was “whether he had ever expressed racial ani­mus toward peo­ple of color”.Sure his white friends are going to tell you how racists he is. (sic.

The truth is that this cop Darren Wilson may not be a racist cop. He may be a great guy. He may even have black friends. Yet the his­tor­i­cal per­cep­tions of blacks in America by white author­i­ty may have influ­enced his deci­sions to use lethal force where non was war­rant­ed. That in and of itself shows just how deeply ingrained racial dif­fer­ences are ingrained in this country.

Rabid detrac­tors who sup­port what­ev­er wrong Police do ‚will have you believe peo­ple of col­or do not want law enforce­ment to do it’s job. That is baloney . What peo­ple want is equi­table and fair enforce­ment of laws and equal dis­pen­sa­tion of jus­tice across all racial lines. From grade school through adult­hood, black Americans are dis­pro­por­tion­ate­ly penal­ized by the sys­tem. that bears men­tion­ing, that needs fixing.

What com­pounds the issue of police abuse is the inabil­i­ty of blacks to rec­og­nize how eas­i­ly the pow­er struc­ture divides and con­quer them by using buzz terms. The buzz term being used to dele­git­imize the excess of police is “out­side agi­ta­tors”. The so-called black lead­er­ship has total­ly fall­en for it . The pow­er struc­ture does not want peo­ple from across the coun­try com­ing togeth­er in push­ing back against Police thug­gery. I becomes imper­a­tive then that they demo­nize any­one who enters Ferguson in sup­port of the strug­gle. They are labeled out­side agitators.

Journalist are not immune from abuse, sev­er­al have been arrest­ed for mere­ly doing their job. Clearly the prob­lems of the 60’s, at least as far as police are con­cerned, are far from over.

When Martin Luther King went to Memphis Tennessee in sup­port of strik­ing san­i­ta­tion work­ers he was labeled an outside

agi­ta­tor. When the free­dom rid­ers entered the South in a show of defi­ance against seg­re­ga­tion they were labeled out­side agi­ta­tors. This term “out­side agi­ta­tors” is not new ‚it has been used effec­tive­ly to neu­tral­ize blacks from com­ing togeth­er . We all know how King and some free­dom rid­ers and count­less oth­er end­ed up, under the guise they were out­side agitators.

The ques­tion we must ask is this, “Were Michael Brown a white 18-year-old would he have died” ? 

I believe it is safe to assume the answer is no. Therein lies the prob­lem. It is an insult to put a black cop in charge of a fes­ter­ing prob­lem while the same peo­ple pull the strings from behind. Does any­one believe State Police Captain Ron Johnson is in charge?

The answer is also no . What the Governor of Missouri have done is put a black face on a dan­ger­ous­ly fes­ter­ing prob­lem . The Governor like every­one else, knows that the world is watch­ing. It does not look good for the world to see the white pow­er struc­ture once again beat­ing down and abus­ing its minor­i­ty population.

The dif­fer­ence this time, thanks to social media and blogs, peo­ple do not have to wait to be spoon-fed by the very media owned by the Oligarchs.

We are not main­stream, we are grass-roots, we have no agen­da beyond truth and jus­tice . We call it as we see it. We do not wor­ry about consequence .

A life lived for one’s self is a life wasted.

Here we speak truth to pow­er, we defend police, we crit­i­cize police. We also crit­i­cize Human Rights Agencies for ever being on the case of small Nations, yet they remain silent on police atroc­i­ties here in America.

We have just learned that Amnesty International have decid­ed to grace Ferguson with their pres­ence. In the mean­time we will con­tin­ue to call them hyp­ocrites for ignor­ing human rights abuse here in America, until we see real sub­stan­tive action from them.

Human rights groups have gath­ered in Ferguson. Amnesty International sent a 13-per­son human rights del­e­ga­tion to Ferguson, resources the orga­ni­za­tion has nev­er set up domes­ti­cal­ly, until now, accord­ing to BuzzFeed. 

Recent reports revealed Michael Brown was shot at least 6 times , includ­ing twice in the head. Most impor­tant­ly there was no pow­der residue on Brown’s body.

Lack of pow­der residue indi­cate that the cop did not shoot the teen from close range.

This flies in the face of false police reports that Michael Brown was shot dur­ing a strug­gle for the offi­cers gun. This rev­e­la­tion backs up what wit­ness­es to the shoot­ing claimed all along.

From all indi­ca­tions Michael Brown was shot down exe­cu­tion style and left in the streets for over 4 hours with­out any attempts to move him via Ambulance to a Hospital where he could be prop­er­ly pro­nounced dead .

The Cop who shot Michael Brown want­ed to kill him, the dia­gram shows what are called kill-shots, aimed direct­ly to the head and chest of the 18 year old.

We are anx­ious­ly await­ing the report of Amnesty International on this their vir­gin for­ay into real police terror.

Police in Ferguson Missouri should feel ashamed .That shame should also be pal­pa­ble to Cops in Staten Island New York . It should be felt by every cop and every per­son who sup­ports and believes in the rule of law everywhere.

It ought to grate on the con­science of every cop, when the com­mu­ni­ty they serve sees them as mur­der­ous tyrants. Law enforce­ment is a dan­ger­ous job. I know some­thing about that, hav­ing being a front line cop who bear the scar of being shot in the line of duty.

One of the prob­lem which bedev­ils Police Departments is their bone-head­ed approach to cit­i­zens com­plaints . Perceptions are some­times real­i­ty. I served in a Department which did not heed the calls to change until it com­plete­ly lost the con­fi­dence of the public .

It does not help police depart­ments when they bat­ten down the hatch­es and refuse to change. The streets of Ferguson is proof pos­i­tive that approach does not work.

It can­not be that a police offi­cer decid­ed­ly shoots some­one because that per­son is.

1)Running away.

2)Hits a cop.

3)Says some­thing an ego-mani­a­cal cop does not like, or otherwise.

Police offi­cers are autho­rized to use lethal force only in defense of their lives or that of anoth­er. There are police cheer-lead­ers who talk out of the side of their mouths about when cops ought to use lethal force.

The fact is police offi­cers are bound by law to arrest some­one even if that per­son just shot at him/​her as long as that per­son laid the weapon down. Cops nowa­days are very hap­py to exe­cute peo­ple for the slight­est reasons.

The sec­ond rea­son for shame is the loot­ing by cer­tain crim­i­nal ele­ments who are using this tragedy to destroy busi­ness­es in their own com­mu­ni­ty. Residents of Ferguson have every right to demon­strate against police bru­tal­i­ty and aggres­sion against mem­bers of their com­mu­ni­ty. They do not have a right to destroy prop­er­ty. They do not have a right to loot stores and steal property.

Then there is the white major­i­ty which large­ly sits on it’s rear-end and ben­e­fit from white priv­i­leged. By it’s silence and refusal to be iden­ti­fied with those who are suf­fer­ing under the bru­tal yoke of brutish police depart­ments they have sided with the oppres­sors. If this crim­i­nal assault by cops is allowed to con­tin­ue, it will even­tu­al­ly get to their door soon enough. It may not come with the ven­omous hatred many cops have for the black pop­u­la­tion. It will come for oth­er reasons.

Police bru­tal­i­ty is a nation­al Epidemic which sur­vives and thrives on the silent acqui­es­cence of the white major­i­ty. The white major­i­ty pre­tends not to see because it is yet to get to it’s doorsteps. That may soon change. The so called main-stream media does noth­ing to report on police excess­es. Cops pret­ty much have carte-blanche to do what they chose.

I am delight­ed to see res­i­dents of Ferguson stand­ing up and say­ing no more , lets hope this is not a flash in the pan but a National awak­en­ing which will push back the Police to being ser­vants of the peo­ple and not their Lord exe­cu­tion­ers. There is a sense of own­er­ship which comes from the nar­ra­tive of the non-minor­i­ty pop­u­la­tion in this coun­try. Not sure where that sense of own­er­ship comes from.

I haven’t heard the opin­ions of Native Americans on this issue, . I will be hap­py to hear from them when this own­er­ship ques­tion comes up. In the mean­time I will throw my sup­port behind the sons and daugh­ters of slaves who bled and died for this land and still do today. Right now my tol­er­ance for the slave-mas­ters and their house slaves is very low.

As the debate sur­round­ing the rela­tion­ship between the African-American com­mu­ni­ty and Police rages. Many in the black community

con­tin­ue to believe that the rela­tion­ship can be improved by the behav­ior of young black men.

Black mid­dle class believe if they tell their sons to pull up their pants, not run from police, not talk-back to police,not go into the glove com­part­ment when deal­ing with police. dress­ing a cer­tain way etc, etc will keep them safe.

This sen­ti­ment was echoed by Judge Glenda Hatchett and oth­ers recent­ly, in an inter­view con­duct­ed by CNN’s Fredrica Whitfield. I have heard par­ent after par­ent, per­son after per­son, say the same thing. I tell my kids don’t run, don’t do this, don’t do that, don’t have more than two peo­ple in a car etc , etc. Yada, yada, yada, Some of this may make sense.

Ironically ‚irre­spec­tive of what young black men do, noth­ing will change the atti­tudes of police toward the black com­mu­ni­ty or our young sons. It is the atti­tudes of the Police which must change, not what black men do, it will nev­er be enough. As we have seen in Ferguson Missouri and in Staten Island New York these two police depart­ments fun­da­men­tal­ly get it wrong .

Patrick Lynch the head of the NYPD PBA came out swing­ing at his employ­ers, the peo­ple. The peo­ple say “we do not want you killing any­one sell­ing loose cig­a­rettes with choke holds”. The moron­ic Lynch and his cahoots said “resist­ing arrest is a seri­ous crime we will con­tin­ue to do what we do”. That kind of a brain-dead response is inim­i­cal of peo­ple who are boss­es not ser­vants of the people.

In Ferguson the peo­ple say “we do not want Armored per­son­nel car­ri­ers with machine guns in our com­mu­ni­ty when we peace­ably gather

to demon­strate”. What has the brain-dead police done? They deploy the very same mil­i­tary style armor, arguably to antag­o­nize and agi­tate the people.

As I said in a forum with friends today, deliv­ery of police ser­vices must be com­men­su­rate with the needs of the com­mu­ni­ty the police serve. The com­mu­ni­ty pays for police ser­vices, the com­mu­ni­ty deserves a say in what kind of ser­vice they receive and how the ser­vice is delivered.

Yet what hap­pened in Ferguson, what hap­pened in Staten Island, what hap­pen in black com­mu­ni­ties all across America is still being mis­tak­en as com­mu­ni­ty events. Police depart­ments and their large­ly white sup­port struc­ture comes out in sup­port of crim­i­nal-cops who bla­tant­ly over­step their author­i­ty and abuse and kill cit­i­zens. It is very rare that a cop is ever held account­able despite moun­tains of evi­dence of bru­tal­i­ty by them. Cameras have brought to light the com­plaints African-Americans have lev­eled at police for decades. Instead of adding cam­eras to police uni­forms 12 States in the United States have moved to make it ille­gal for cit­i­zens to record police activ­i­ty ‚unless, they have per­mis­sion of the same cops they would be video­tap­ing for wrong-doing.

This sys­tem­at­ic pat­tern of dis­re­spect is hard­ly ever expe­ri­enced by whites . This forms the rea­son many whites rush to the defense of police when these events occur. No one tells young white kids how many of them should be in a car. No one tells them what to wear , or how to wear their clothes. (grant­ed I hate the sag­ging pants , I believe it is the right of young blacks to wear them that way. They will grow out of that trend eventually).

Police do not sodom­ize white men in sta­tion restrooms as NYPD mem­ber Justin Volpe did to AbnerLouima.Sodomized with a bro­ken broom-stick , his pan­creas and blad­der rup­tured. Abner Louima was hos­pi­tal­ized for months. His crime/​He alleged­ly swung at Volpe. It

turned out it was­n’t even Louima who did .

Police do not kill white men the way they did Amadou Diallo. Shot at 41 times 19 bul­lets found his body. The young African immi­grant had noth­ing but his wallet.

They do not kill white men the way they did Sean Bell. Murdered the day he was to be mar­ried. His crime/​he was in a car that sup­pos­ed­ly lurched toward plain­clothes cops.

Or Anthony Baez. Murdered because the foot­ball he and his broth­er was play­ing with alleged­ly hit a police cruis­er. (Police cruis­ers are paid for with tax pay­ers money)

Or Eric Garner. mur­dered using an ille­gal choke-hold. His crime /​He was sus­pect­ed of sell­ing loose untaxed cigarettes.

Or Michael Brown .Allegedly stole some cigars.

Or the count­less oth­ers killed and vicious­ly assault­ed and framed all across America dai­ly. We could go on and on about the sys­tem­at­ic slaugh­ter of young black men but that’s not all. Every year scores of men, large­ly African-Americans, are released from prison. These men are released after new evi­dence of their inno­cence sur­faces , after they have already spent many years of their lives incar­cer­at­ed for crimes they did not commit.

Some argue these men are not Angels. Angels or not, no one deserves to go to prison for a crime he did not com­mit. Prosecutors prosecute

on the evi­dence giv­en them . It fol­lows then that there has been and still is, a seri­ous epi­dem­ic of police fal­si­fy­ing evi­dence to gain con­vic­tions. Thanks to Organizations like the Innocence Project some of the wrong­ful­ly con­vict­ed get to see the light of day again.

There are some well dressed so called blacks who believe peo­ple like Al Sharpton who bring atten­tion to these injus­tices are self-serv­ing. Some of these well dressed mon­keys also believe folks in Ferguson Missouri are over-react­ing , the truth is it will get to their doors-steps soon enough .

These out of con­trol cops do not care about your mon­key-suits or slick-back hair . To them you are just anoth­er N****r.

Police in Ferguson Missouri have revealed new bomb­shell infor­ma­tion that Michael Brown was a Robbery sus­pect when he was shot and killed on August 9^th.

This new infor­ma­tion sur­faced almost a full week lat­er and after sev­er­al nights of unrest and clash­es between Police and angry res­i­dents who are demand­ing jus­tice for the 18 year old.

The new Information comes to light after President Obama who is vaca­tion­ing in Martha’s Vineyard addressed the Nation on the sub­ject. Missouri’s US Senator, Claire McCaskill speak­ing at a Church said ‚” “This kind of response by the police has become the prob­lem instead of the solu­tion”, . Senator McCaskill was respond­ing to the heavy hand­ed approach adopt­ed my Ferguson Police in response to the demon­stra­tions. Senator McCaskill also said the Ferguson Police should be demilitarized .

The Ferguson Police released the infor­ma­tion along with footage from a con­ve­nience store video, alleg­ing that Brown is the per­son in the video rough­ing up a clerk and walk­ing out with a box of sweet cig­ars val­ued at just under $50.00. They also acqui­esced to res­i­dents demand by reveal­ing the iden­ti­ty of the offi­cer who shot and killed Brown . He is iden­ti­fied as 6 year vet­er­an Darren Wilson.

Why did it take 5 days for Ferguson Police to reveal this new infor­ma­tion? Even if true, does the police real­ize doing it this way cre­ates more ques­tions than answers. Ferguson Police also stat­ed that Officer Wilson had no pri­or com­plaints against him. What the Chief did not reveal is that his Department had a pol­i­cy of allow­ing Officers to com­plete those reports and that they nev­er get placed into Officers per­son­nel files. In these Blogs we speak fre­quent­ly to the issue of the Militarization of local police forces. It is refresh­ing to see Claire McCaskill speak out against this fright­en­ing phe­nom­e­non. Ferguson like most oth­er Police Departments ben­e­fits from a Pentagon’s Excess Property Program, known as 1033, which distributes

sur­plus mil­i­tary equip­ment to police. The pro­gram began in the ear­ly 1990s to assist anti-drug efforts and grew after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

When Police Departments gets equipped with Military hard­ware and manned by peo­ple many of whom have recent­ly returned from war, you end up with these kinds of situations.

Here we talk a lot about the grow­ing trend of Cops to be rude, aggres­sive, abra­sive, and dis­re­spect­ful. This bla­tant­ly dis­re­spect tends to esca­late rather quick­ly into vio­lence when police deal with cer­tain sec­tor of the soci­ety some of them have scant respect for. This kind of behav­ior does noth­ing to fos­ter bet­ter rela­tion­ships between police depart­ments and the com­mu­ni­ties they serve.

It also jeop­ar­dizes the safe­ty and hard work of good offi­cers as they jeop­ar­dize their own.

Orette Bruce Golding became Jamaica’s 8^th Prime Minister on the 11^th of Sept 2007, like most Jamaican politi­cians Golding was less than per­fect. Golding was a sec­ond Generation politi­cian , being the son of  Tacius Golding, who served as a mem­ber of par­lia­ment, and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Golding spent less than a full term in office, he resigned in 2001 after the fall­out over the extra­di­tion of Christopher (Dudus Coke. Among the things Golding pushed for as Prime Minister was that Jamaica break ties with the British Monarchy and become a Republic. Golding reit­er­at­ed this call in a bud­get debate in 2011 , say­ing quote.“Transforming Jamaica from a monar­chi­cal to a repub­li­can state means no dis­re­spect, and must not be inter­pret­ed this way”.

May 2008 Golding told  Stephen Sackur of the BBC, that any cab­i­net formed by him would exclude any MP known to be gay. In pre­vi­ous state­ments, Golding has stat­ed that he and his par­ty strong­ly opposed pub­lic dis­plays of homo­sex­u­al­i­ty in Jamaica and that he felt that they should con­tin­ue to be ille­gal in keep­ing with Jamaican soci­etal norms.

August 2009 The United States Government demand the extra­di­tion of Christopher Dudus Coke to the United States. Prime Minister Bruce Golding whose Constituency of West Kingston also dou­bles as the epic cen­ter of Coke’s Empire had a deci­sion to make.

If Golding resist­ed attempts to extra­dite Coke, he faced the wrath of a mas­sive American back­lash. If he acqui­esced to America’s demands he faced mas­sive resis­tance in his own con­stituen­cy and pos­si­bly a Nationwide insur­rec­tion which would mean the end of his tenure as Prime Minister.

Faced with those real­i­ties Golding decid­ed to delay the extra­di­tion process while he sought back chan­nel solu­tions to his dilem­ma. Back chan­nel approach­es are prac­ticed by every Government , includ­ing the pow­er­ful United States. That back chan­nel was engag­ing the ser­vices of Washington Law Firm Mannat Phelps and Phillips to lob­by the US State Department on Golding’s behalf. This did noth­ing to alle­vi­ate Washington’s pres­sure on Golding. Word leaked out about the lob­by­ing efforts, Golding was forced to take a more stri­dent stance against America’s demands, declar­ing that Jamaican pol­i­cy was not for­mu­lat­ed in Ligunea.

Under heavy pres­sure from Washington, May 21 Bruce Golding capit­u­lat­ed to America’s demands and autho­rized the extra­di­tion of Christopher Coke. All hell broke loose. The events which fol­lowed , led to the deaths of over 73 Jamaicans . Christopher Coke is present­ly sit­ting in an American Federal Prison.

Golding had no option but to resign. Who could have leaked the infor­ma­tion about the reten­tion of Mannat Phelps and Phillips? Lawyers have a duty to pro­tect the pri­va­cy of their clients. The Arm twist­ing to leak the infor­ma­tion must have come from high above which forced Mannat to yield.

Just pri­or to National Elections sched­uled for December 2011 ‚Portia Simpson Miller, Opposition leader, in a tele­vised debate said quote :

“No-one should be dis­crim­i­nat­ed against because of their sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tion. I think we should have a look at the bug­gery law and mem­bers of par­lia­ment should be giv­en the right to vote with their con­science, in con­sul­ta­tion with their con­stituents. I do not have any inten­tion of pry­ing into the pri­vate busi­ness of any­one, I would appoint any­one with the abil­i­ty, the capac­i­ty and the capa­bil­i­ty in my cabinet.”

On December 29^th 2011 Portia Simpson Miller became Prime Minister elect beat­ing Andrew Holness in a land­slide which sur­prised even the Party Portia heads.

There is a seri­ous and ever increas­ing threat to cit­i­zens rights as a result of Police aggres­siv­ness and dis­re­spect of the very cit­i­zen­ry they sup­pos­ed­ly serve. It is shock­ing that after serv­ing 10 years myself as a Police Officer I am now loathe to encour­age a young per­son to serve as a law enforce­ment officer.

Law Enforcement is no longer pub­lic safe­ty, it is now Government con­tain­ment of the mass­es through bru­tal and mur­der­ous police depart­ments. We are unable to divest our­selves of the Police as an enti­ty, after all the police are nec­es­sary in a civ­i­lized soci­ety. there is a huge prob­lem when the police can­not be trust­ed to act with civil­i­ty and are seen as an equal offend­er to peace and good order.

As the father of black sons, my great­est fear when my sons get in their cars to enter the streets, is not for reg­u­lar crim­i­nals but for some of the crim­i­nals now wear­ing badges and parad­ing as police offi­cers. There is a grow­ing trend by police in the United States to charge peo­ple they do not like with resist­ing arrest. Unwitting law mak­ers attach seri­ous penal­ties to the charge to encour­age cit­i­zens to sub­mit peace­ably to being arrested.

What police have done is use it to send cit­i­zens to prison unjust­ly, as well as to jus­ti­fy using exces­sive force on those they want to admin­is­ter a beat­ing to. In New City alone the New York city Police Department filed over 55,000 resist­ing arrest charges against New Yorkers over a 10 year peri­od. Even though the first charge was for a minor offense. Thankfully some Judges are not blind­ed by police sup­port, most of these cas­es have been tossed out along with the under­ly­ing charge.

The NYPD obvi­ous­ly sees itself as Lord of the peo­ple, if the PBA pres­i­dent Patrick Lynch and the Sergeant’s PBA’s pres­i­den­t’s utter­ances are any­thing to go by. They haven’t got­ten the mes­sage that the leg­is­la­tion was not intend­ed for them to lie in order to incar­cer­ate cit­i­zens, or to give police the excuse to phys­i­cal­ly assault or kill mem­bers of the pub­lic they swore to protect.

OR WAS IT ?

We are forced to ask whether the Legislation mak­ing resist­ing arrest a seri­ous crime was to encour­age com­pli­ance , or was it intend­ed to give more pow­er to police to squash cer­tain sec­tors of the soci­ety deemed dis­pos­able? It bears men­tion­ing that politi­cians rush to say nice things about the police, even when the police clear­ly act in con­tra­ven­tion to their sworn duties. This wink, wink, nod, nod has sys­tem­at­i­cal­ly encour­aged the law­less with­in police depart­ments to act with impuni­ty toward citizens.

The notion that resist­ing arrest is wor­thy of death, even for the most minor offense has been echoed by many Police brass across America. Clearly they know they have cov­er to kill because of the sweep­ing immu­ni­ty they have been giv­en by leg­is­la­tors in the pock­ets or afraid of police Unions. The aver­age cop who abus­es a mem­ber of the pub­lic, par­tic­u­lar­ly a non-white mem­ber, knows he/​she will not have to account. Even in cas­es where cit­i­zens are killed, they are giv­en desk assign­ments with full pay.

Forty three year old Eric Garner was killed while cops attempt­ed to arrest him for sell­ing un-taxed cig­a­rettes. The Police failed to men­tion that mis­ter Garner had just stepped in and defused a phys­i­cal alter­ca­tion between two oth­er men. They also failed to men­tion that accord­ing to eye­wit­ness­es, Garner had no cig­a­rettes on his per­son at the time he was alleged to have been sell­ing cig­a­rettes. Notwithstanding Garner was placed in a bru­tal choke-hold which snuffed out his life. With his dying breath ‚Garner could be heard say­ing , “I can’t breathe I can’t breathe, I cant breathe”.

Despite Garner’s pleas, the cop main­tained his death-hold until the last breath of life drained from Eric Garner’s body. The Medical Examiner ruled Eric Garner’s death a homi­cide. That means some­one killed Eric Garner, he did not die of nat­ur­al caus­es. Staten Island District Attorney Daniel M Donavan Jr, still haven’t filed crim­i­nal charges against any of the cops involved in the killing of Eric Garner.

Donavan insists he will have to find evi­dence the cops act­ed unlaw­ful­ly. This would be laugh­able if it was­n’t cyn­i­cal and insult­ing. The choke-hold used to kill Eric Garner was banned some 20 years ago. If the method used to kill Eric Garner was ille­gal, the act is crim­i­nal. What Donavan is doing is foot-drag­ging . The District Attorney is hop­ing that this will even­tu­al­ly die down. This is why it is impor­tant that the fam­i­ly of Eric Garner does not relent in their quest to get jus­tice for their loved one, who was essen­tial­ly mur­dered by mem­bers of the New York City Police Department.

Had Eric Garner assault­ed a cop and lived, he would have been beat­en to a pulp and fac­ing a raft of felonies from Donavan’s office. He would be cool­ing his heels in jail pos­si­bly with­out bail. This is the kind of hypocrisy being prac­ticed sim­i­lar to the mock inves­ti­ga­tion and tri­al which took place in the Trayvon Martin killing. The most recent exam­ple being the refusal of the Ferguson Missouri Police Department to name the cop who shot  18-year-old Michael Brown mul­ti­ple times killing him on the spot.

When you see police abus­ing cit­i­zens , look at these cas­es and you get an under­stand­ing why.

The beat­ing death of Mario Deane while in the cus­tody of the St James Police ‚has once again shown the Police to be still an inept Law Enforcement Agency at best and in the eyes of some, a gross­ly abu­sive and cor­rupt Force.

The prob­lem for the Police is that there is no hap­py medi­um between those two per­cep­tions. Dean was arrest­ed for pos­ses­sion of a mar­i­jua­na cig­ar and was await­ing bail when the beat­ing occurred. There are reports which indi­cate that some­one had show up to post bail for Deane but had not sat­is­fied all of the Bail require­ments and was told to return to the Barnett Street Station where Dean was being held..

Also in the pub­lic domain is spec­u­la­tion that Dean may have had less than kind words for the Police and was sub­se­quent­ly sent back to the lock­up on that basis. The Police, for it’s part have nev­er missed an oppor­tu­ni­ty to show it’s incom­pe­tence, went ahead and told the pub­lic that Dean fell from his Bunk and injured himself.

This defies log­ic or com­mon sense. 1)Did the Police hier­ar­chy see this pic­ture of Mario Deane before they went to the pub­lic with that story?

2) Did the Command at Barnett street get that infor­ma­tion from the pris­on­ers who shared Dean’s cell or did the Police con­coct that sto­ry as is being argued all over social media and beyond?

The Police have since charged two men with the beat­ing death of Dean.Those charged with Deane’s death are Marvin Orr,35, from Portland and Adrian Morgan, 25 from Westmoreland. How could the Police not know that giv­ing vary­ing accounts of what hap­pened would have incurred the ven­omous wrath of a pop­u­la­tion which prefers crim­i­nals to the rule of law?

Whatever the truth sur­round­ing the beat­ing death of Mario Dean’s it can­not be that both sto­ries are true.

If the men charged with beat­ing him are guilty, the police could not have . If the Police beat Mario the men charged could not have done so. The Police may be accused of will­ful com­plic­i­ty by not respond­ing when he screamed. They may have been neg­li­gent by not pay­ing atten­tion to their duties. They may even be com­plic­it by giv­ing the inmates a wink and a nod to assault mis­ter Dean. The truth of the mat­ter is, we do not yet know what the facts are.

Irrespective of the truth in this case, the Police High Command have bun­gled this case as they have done pret­ty much every­thing else they have been tasked with. This is bad , it looks bad and it smells bad. The Hierarchy of the force should have been on this inves­ti­ga­tion and prop­er­ly briefed the fam­i­ly and pub­lic immediately.

This would have meant assign­ing a team of Detectives imme­di­ate­ly they were informed of this. Those Detectives, if com­pe­tent, would have been able to tell imme­di­ate­ly whether the wounds on Mario Deane were con­sis­tent with some­one falling from a bed. Someone falling from a bed would suf­fer one or two wounds, not mul­ti­ple wounds or abrasions.

Some of the crit­i­cisms I have heard is that the vic­tim mis­ter Dean did not have any defen­sive wounds to his hands etc. As a trained Detective I can tell you some­one can be beat­en with­out hav­ing any defen­sive wounds. This would occur if the per­son was ren­dered uncon­scious with an open­ing blow .

Whatever the truth of this case the Police have shown once again they are will­ing to give ammu­ni­tion to their crit­ics because of their incompetence.
