It is not a democracy when the elected representatives of the people appoint bureaucrats to lifetime positions over which they thereafter have no oversight.
The idea of a Supreme Court populated with unelected bureaucrats not elected by the people and that only answers to itself runs counter to every tenet of a democratic society.
A Supreme Court that no one has the power to police is a court without accountability. A court that refuses to respond to gross ethical questions about its members, even to the representatives who appointed them, is illegitimate and, for all intents and purposes, a monarchy.
A Monarchy that rules by decree and takes away rights that citizens have come to enjoy for decades.
This is the supreme monarchy.
