Born at noon on Tuesday, January 15, 1929 at the family home in Atlanta, Martin Luther King, Jr. was the first son and second child born to the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. The son of a minister, Martin Luther King, Jr. grows up to follow in his father’s footsteps; studying at Morehouse College, Crozer Theological Seminary, and earning a doctorate at Boston University’s School of Theology.Dr. King heads the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) to protest the arrest of NAACP official Rosa Park for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white man.
