POLICE from the Anti- Trafficking in Persons and Intellectual Property Vice Squad of the Organised Crime Investigative Division have seized more than $465 million worth of counterfeit goods in three separate raids between Monday and yesterday.
Head of the squad, Deputy Superintendent Carl Berry, said the raids were part of operations ‘Swirl’ and ‘Push Back’, which target perpetrators of intellectual property crimes which have been raking in millions into the coffers of organised criminal networks.
Among the items seized were two truckloads of counterfeit or knockoff Clarks shoes, bootleg rum, fake pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and a quantity of compact discs (CDs) and digital video discs (DVDs). The police also seized a quantity of computer hard drives and other equipment during the raids.

Just once I would like to see the Police do things the correct way, rather than go for the instant gratification of the media spotlight.
1)How about seizing the goods.
2)Arresting the suspects.
3)Doing interviews.
4)Speaking to Prosecutors with a view toward offering deals, in order get to get to the source?
5)Then do the perp-walk.
It’s no secret the Chinese have flooded the world’s markets with cheap knock-off goods, some of which have dangerous consequences to health and have resulted in deaths across the Globe. In African nations like Nigeria and others, it is reported that up to 60 % of Pharmaceutical drugs taken are contaminated Chinese reproductions.
It probably isn’t much of a stretch to assume that these are counterfeit Chinese Goods . How about doing some real work that the Force can be proud of? The Department is quick to point to the fact that it’s officers are now highly educated. We are extremely pleased about that. It would be nice to see some evidence of that however.
