The impasse cre­at­ed by Staten Island Republican politi­cians over the planned march by the National Action Network seem to have sub­sided for now. Sharpton and oth­ers have decid­ed they will march into the Borough using Buses and cars. It will be inter­est­ing to see what the howlers com­plain of next , now that Sharpton has show flex­i­bil­i­ty in this matter.

The Bridge is owned by New York City and oper­at­ed by the (MTA) Metropolitan Transport Authority. The bridge was not built with a pedes­tri­an walk­way, non-motor­ized trans­porta­tion is lim­it­ed to using the bridge dur­ing spe­cial events such as the New York City Marathon and Five Boro Bike Tour. If the Bridge can be shut down to accom­mo­date Marathon run­ners and Bikers it should be allowed for protests against Injustice. What we hear from the Pharisees in Staten Island is unmit­i­gat­ed wink, wink, nod, nod, for the Cops who killed Asthmatic Eric Garner with an ille­gal choke-hold.

Reverend Al Sharpton and his National Action Network planned to march across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge into Staten on Saturday Aug.23^rd to protest the chok­ing death of 43 year old Eric Garner of the Borough. The Borough’s Republicans raised a big stink , claim­ing that the march would close down the bridge on a day when it is heav­i­ly used. We con­tend­ed from the off­set of their howl­ing , that the rea­son they were grip­ing had lit­tle or noth­ing to do with Bridge con­ges­tion or it’s clos­ing. In fact even though the Bridge in ques­tion has no walk­way, traf­fic would not have to stop in order for a foot march to hap­pen. There would be mon­e­tary cost asso­ci­at­ed with a poten­tial closing.

One Staten Island res­i­dent summed up our the­o­ry this way.

“I would think the may­or should stop him, but this may­or, he’s not going to stop him. He’s just not going to do that,” said Len Hickey. “He doesn’t want to get involved with all the pol­i­tics and the insan­i­ty of it. He won’t do it. He won’t have the cops to do it. He’s not Giuliani.”

That’s exact­ly the point , Bill De Blasio is not Rudolph Giuliani! Rudolph Giuliani cared only about the Police and the City’s white res­i­dents. De Blasio won on a man­date to fix the City’s Police prob­lems with res­i­dents of the City. Most of those prob­lems between res­i­dents and the NYPD were cre­at­ed by Giuliani’s dis­re­spect for the minor­i­ty communities.

One of the biggest mis­con­cep­tions sur­round­ing the Giuliani era was that he was sole­ly respon­si­ble for mak­ing the city safer. That was a myth which he nev­er miss­es an oppor­tu­ni­ty to exploit. The truth is that Mayor David Dinkins start­ed safe city safe streets, and active­ly grew the Police Department. Many of the Cops who demon­strat­ed with the divi­sive race-mon­ger Giuliani on the steps of City Hall, refer­ring to Dinkins as a wash­room-atten­dant, owed their jobs to Mayor Dinkins. No, De Blasio is try­ing to be a Mayor to all New Yorkers, not just Cops, fire­fight­ers and his cho­sen friends.

Police offi­cers do not have to turn a blind eye to crimes and mis­de­meanors . Policing the City’s 5 Boroughs can be done if Police offi­cers act intel­li­gent­ly. Aggressive Policing does not mean abu­sive Policing. Force must be a last resort in effect­ing arrests. There are oth­er ways to bring res­i­dents of the City to court for minor offences with­out vio­lent arrests which leads to what hap­pened to Eric Garner. Police Officers must divest them­selves of the testos­terone-laden-brava­do too many of them have. This is not con­fined to the NYPD.

Showing respect to some­one about to be arrest­ed , goes a long way in deter­min­ing how that arrest will end. It may have a lot to do with the safe­ty of the per­son being arrest­ed and the cop effect­ing the arrest. Too many Police offi­cers place them­selves on pedestals above res­i­dents. Too many Cops have no respect for peo­ple who do not look like them. Too many cops esca­late rather than de-esca­late minor mat­ters. Police Officers need to get back to speak­ing to peo­ple with respect and they will find peo­ple will be far more accom­mo­dat­ing to them. Being hired as a cop does not make one a God. Most Cops need to be remind­ed of this. Once they fig­ure this out, I’m all for bring­ing crim­i­nals and offend­ers to justice.

A word of cau­tion to black res­i­dents of New York city and all across America. I have heard some very dis­turb­ing com­ments com­ing from some of you against Al Sharpton. What I hear sounds exact­ly like some­thing out of the Republican play-book. Be care­ful when you allow oth­ers to tell you who your lead­ers should be. They said the very same things about Dr King. They tried to coerce him into com­mit­ing sui­cide under threat of black­mail. When he did not capit­u­late to their demands they put a bul­let in him.

Every oth­er black leader has had his/​her char­ac­ter dragged through the mud. Character Assassination. What hap­pens to a peo­ple with­out lead­ers? Remember what hap­pen to oth­ers will hap­pen to you, you will need some­one to stand with you. Blacks in America have not won a sin­gle vic­to­ry that can­not be reversed. The Supreme Court just last year stripped away parts of the vot­ing Rights Act. The Court’s log­ic is that it worked well, and is no longer need­ed, things are not the way they were when the Legislation was signed into Law. The Reverend Al Sharpton Civil Rights leader of the National Action Network and NBC talk show host plans to march across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge on Saturday August 23^rd, in a bid to stop Police vio­lence on African-American men.

Sharpton’s lat­est plan to march across the Verrazano nar­rows Bridge is to protest the chok­ing death of 43-year-old Staten Island res­i­dent Eric Garner an asth­mat­ic by NYPD cops.

The planned march has ignit­ed a firestorm of protest from Staten Island Republicans who want Mayor Bill De Blasio to inter­vene and pre­vent the march from hap­pen­ing. Thus far the Mayor has refused to get involved in the row. Permits for march­es are usu­al­ly grant­ed by the Police, how­ev­er Police Commissioner Bill Bratton has tossed it over to the MTA which owns the bridge say­ing it’s their property.

City Council Minority Leader Vincent Ignizio (R‑51^st) and Councilman Steven Matteo (R‑50^th) have called on the MTA and the NYPD to block the march over the bridge, which has no walk­way. Marching over the bridge would require shut­ting down some lanes of traffic.

U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm (R‑N.Y.) who is under Federal Indictment and — who rep­re­sents the dis­trict where the bridge is locat­ed — wrote a let­ter to Mayor de Blasio express­ing oppo­si­tion to the march. In his Letter Grimm said.

Staten Island already bears the bur­den as the traf­fic and pot­hole cap­i­tal of the coun­try, not to men­tion hav­ing the most exor­bi­tant toll in the nation,” Grimm said. “To close our only direct pas­sage to the rest of the City on a sum­mer trav­el week­end is a recipe for total dis­as­ter. There’s a rea­son the bridge has rarely been closed in its 50-year his­to­ry; because the major dis­rup­tion and safe­ty risks are mas­sive: our small busi­ness­es — already cop­ing with the out­ra­geous tolls — would bear an even greater finan­cial bur­den, fam­i­lies would be severe­ly impact­ed, and the Staten Island Expressway would be a park­ing lot… FDNY and EMT facil­i­ties in south­ern Brooklyn that serve Staten Island’s north shore neigh­bor­hoods would be cut off in the event of an emer­gency, and that is unacceptable.”

“The fact remains: the peo­ple of New York elect­ed Bill de Blasio — not Al Sharpton — and it’s time for the Mayor to stand up, show some true lead­er­ship, and deny these per­mits to close the Verrazano bridge,” he added.

Staten Island Borough President James Oddo also expressed oppo­si­tion to the march via Twitter.“We should be build­ing bridges in our com­mu­ni­ty, not march­ing over them,” he tweeted.

Lets estab­lish a few facts, these Republican hyp­ocrites are not con­cerned about a bridge clos­ing . They are not con­cerned about traffic

or any of the things they griped about. What they are opposed to is Al Sharpton and African Americans march­ing into the Borough many of them believe to be their own. The Borough President James Oddo’s state­ment is par­tic­u­lar­ly rep­re­hen­si­ble. There is no greater threat to build­ing Bridges than hav­ing Cops chok­ing and killing inno­cent cit­i­zens. Where is the out­rage from these right-wing clos­et­ed racists when the Police act inappropriately?

The fact of the mat­ter is that many of those cops live right there on Staten Island , they can do no wrong for these politi­cians, many of whom see the cops as their per­son­al army, there to defend them against the blacks.

Congressman Grimm would be bet­ter served if he paid atten­tion to the Federal Indictment which charges him with 20 counts of fraud, per­jury and obstruc­tion tied to his for­mer own­er­ship of an Upper East Side fast-food eatery that, the feds charge, employed ille­gal aliens off the books. The charges against Grimm, 44, an ex-Marine and for­mer FBI agent, car­ry a max­i­mum sen­tence of 20 years behind bars and include hid­ing more than $1 mil­lion in cash that the Second Avenue restau­rant Healthalicious took in between 2007 and 2010.

Grimm also is accused of lying under oath while a mem­ber of Congress dur­ing a January 2013 depo­si­tion tied to a civ­il suit filed by his employ­ees. Whether we agree with Hamas or Fatah’s tac­tics is nei­ther here nor there. The fact of the mat­ter is this is war between two com­pet­ing inter­ests. Israel is armed with Nuclear weapons, It’s Military is one of the most sophis­ti­cat­ed in the World. It’s Intelligence Service the Mossad is one of the world’s best-known and most high­ly regard­ed intel­li­gence agen­cies.

Israel is backed by the United States, England and many oth­er pow­ers which has strate­gic inter­ests par­al­lel­ing that of Israel’s. Each year the United States alone pumps over 3 Billion Dollars of direct Aid into Israel.

The peo­ple in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip lives under total and com­plete dom­i­na­tion of Israel’s Occupation. At the cen­ter of the suf­fer­ing of the Palestinian suf­fer­ing is Israel’s con­tin­ued annex­a­tion of their lands.

Israeli’s builds set­tle­ments on Palestinian lands, against International Law, the State then puts Police and oth­er ameni­ties in sup­pos­ed­ly to pro­tect the set­tlers. The State builds roads and erect check-points pre­vent­ing Palestinians from even using the roads. That area is now part of the state of Israel.

The type of poli­cies being pur­sued by Israel in build­ing set­tle­ments and road then pre­vent­ing Palestinians from using those roads are a form of apart-ness or Apartheid worse than that which was prac­ticed in South Africa

The peace process has been pret­ty well dor­mant for the past three years. Of course, in the past we played a key role in being the medi­a­tor and con­ven­er of meet­ings, but that’s not hap­pen­ing either. The first pri­or­i­ty would be for the Israelis and Palestinians to take the ini­tia­tive. But the Israelis have con­tin­ued with their mas­sive set­tle­ment pro­gram in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and the Palestinians say they won’t nego­ti­ate as long as Israel is con­tin­u­ing to take over their ter­ri­to­ry, so there’s dead­lock. The United States is looked upon by the rest of the inter­na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty as the pri­ma­ry inter­locu­tor, so the European Union mem­bers don’t take action. As a result, there’s no inter­me­di­ary who can move things for­ward and ini­ti­ate peace talks.

Israel should come out and tell the World it does not want a two State solu­tion and live with the consequences.(President Bill Clinton).

The fact is that Israel does not want a Palestinian State side by side with Israel. There has been sig­nif­i­cant attempts at a two state solu­tion between Israel and Palestine start­ing from the 1991 Madrid Conference. There fol­lowed the 1993 Oslo accords and the failed 2000 Camp David sum­mit fol­lowed by the Taba nego­ti­a­tions in ear­ly 2001. In 2002, the Arab League pro­posed the Arab Peace Initiative. The lat­est ini­tia­tive, which also failed, was the 2013 – 14 peace talks.

If Israel want­ed a two state solu­tion to the present prob­lems there would have been two states. Netanyaha have stat­ed repeat­ed­ly that he does not want a bi-nation­al state. This is a remark­able state­ment that what Israel wants is a pure apartheid Jewish state. It is not even an issue of Jewish peo­ple. Black Jews are treat­ed like dirt in Israel. Many African Jews are in con­fine­ment in the Negev Desert, Israel labels them Infiltrators.

What is hap­pen­ing to the Palestinian peo­ple is eth­nic cleans­ing. In order for Israel to get away with it the west must demo­nize Palestinians as immoral ungod­ly ter­ror­ists. Every peo­ple have a right to self-defense and self-deter­mi­na­tion. Too many are afraid of Jewish mon­ey and pow­er, so they remain silent. It can­not be that Israel steal the land , mas­sacres the peo­ple and the world blames the victim.

When Israel says it wants the total demil­i­ta­riza­tion of Gaza , they know full well that Hamas or who­ev­er is in charge at any giv­en time, can nev­er agree to those terms. That would be uncon­di­tion­al sur­ren­der and capit­u­la­tion to occu­pa­tion and dom­i­na­tion. Israel makes those demands know­ing that the Palestinians will not and can­not agree to them. This gives them the excuse they need to con­tin­ue with their land grab and eth­nic cleansing.

It is incom­pre­hen­si­ble that any­one , irre­spec­tive of polit­i­cal or reli­gious beliefs, would ever seek to jus­ti­fy this immoral cam­paign which has been waged against the Palestinian people.

Israel con­tin­ues to build set­tle­ments essen­tial­ly tak­ing more land. Palestinians fight back, Israel kills them in num­bers. Seem like a per­fect plan to rid the land of Palestinians.

The PBA which rep­re­sents NYPD offi­cers held a press con­fer­ence August 5^th 2014. The pur­pose of the Press Conference as they saw it, was to push back at what they see as slan­der of the NYPD by peo­ple who spoke out against them killing 43 year-old unarmed Asthmatic Eric Garner.

Of course, they were quick to name their reg­u­lar whip­ping boy Al Sharpton one of only a few black Americans with the balls to chal­lenge them when they abuse and kill blacks.

Patrick Lynch is well paid to make state­ments in defense of Cops., what he does­n’t real­ize is that he makes him­self less and less rel­e­vant each time he makes these state­ments in sup­port of his col­leagues. Lynch’s com­ments are rel­e­vant to his col­leagues and those who hero-wor­ship cops, no one else.

Police offi­cers are paid to pro­tect the pub­lic. The NYPD has devel­oped a cul­ture of arro­gance which have them believ­ing they are exempt from obey­ing the laws. Separate and apart from phys­i­cal assaults and ques­tion­able killings, they have a his­to­ry of fal­si­fy­ing reports to put peo­ple they do not like in prison.

Lynch insist that the deceased Eric Garner was warned about being in that area a week ear­li­er. That state­ment speaks vol­umes about the atti­tude of NYPD’s offi­cers, who clear­ly have a God com­plex. It is fair to deduce that Eric Garner need­n’t have com­mit­ted any breach of the law on the day he was killed, as some onlook­ers insist (he had­n’t). His mere pres­ence would have been enough for him to be bru­tal­ly assault­ed and sub­se­quent­ly killed in a choke hold by NYPD cops.

Operating ful­ly as expect­ed they tar­get­ed the young man who video-taped them killing Eric Garner. Ramsey Orta was arrest­ed for Criminal pos­ses­sion of a firearm. Now grant­ed that mis­ter Orta may have a less than stel­lar record , what are the chances the NYPD arrest­ed him pass­ing a gun to a female com­pan­ion as they claimed ? Ramsey Orta’s wife com­plained that NYPD cops staked out their house,and shone lights into their home after he video­taped them killing Eric Garner.

Many peo­ple have long seen some cops includ­ing some in the NYPD as com­mon Gangsters,. If this is true, and there is no rea­son not to believe her, these cops are out of con­trol and are no dif­fer­ent from reg­u­lar mafioso.

On the death of Eric Garner.

These attacks on the NYPD are wrong, need to stop and the hard work­ing peo­ple of this city need to stand and sup­port the NYPD.”

Anyone who believe that NYPD’S killing of unarmed African-American and Latino men will come to an end any­time soon is gross­ly mis­guid­ed. Nothing short of Federal super­vi­sion of this Department will bring any mean­ing­ful change in atti­tude.

The prob­lem with the NYPD is one of atti­tude.They do not believe they are account­able to the cit­i­zens of New York, and God for­bid cer­tain­ly not the Black and Brown cit­i­zens of the city.

On the arrest Ramsey Orta.

“The arrest of Ramsey Orta for crim­i­nal pos­ses­sion of a firearm only under­scores the dan­gers that brought police offi­cers to respond to a chron­ic crime con­di­tion in that com­mu­ni­ty. It is crim­i­nals like Mr. Orta who car­ry ille­gal firearms who stand to ben­e­fit the most by demo­niz­ing the good work of police offi­cers. Sadly, in the effort to keep neigh­bor­hoods like Tompkinsville safe, a tragedy occurred. But that doesn’t change the fact that police offi­cers rou­tine­ly risk their lives for the ben­e­fit of the com­mu­ni­ty and that they have earned their sup­port and understanding.

I guess this is an improve­ment over pre­vi­ous instances when they tell res­i­dents shut the f*** up and call a crim­i­nal next time you need a cop. The fact is the cit­i­zens are less and less sure who is crim­i­nal from who is cop.

Have you ever been in a Supermarket, on a flight, or in oth­er pub­lic places and see kids act­ing up to the cha­grin and embar­rass­ment of their par­ents? Yet you smile to your­self because you know many of those par­ents had not laid any dis­ci­pli­nary frame­work for the kid, and are only then try­ing to dis­ci­pline the kid out of embarrassment.

The United States report­ed­ly gives over 3 Billion Dollars in direct Aid to Israel each year, the aver­age American cit­i­zen has no idea just how much more of their tax dol­lars are sent to the Zionist state indi­rect­ly. America Unequivocally sup­ports Israeli actions against Palestinian and oth­er Middle Eastern Nations even when the rest of the World cry foul to Israel’s actions.

It mat­ters not how many babies and inno­cent peo­ple are killed by Israel , it is all par for the course for those of the John Hagee ilk. What makes these pon­tif­i­caters dan­ger­ous is that they use Biblical Scriptures to jus­ti­fy Israel’s war crimes against humanity.

No oth­er Nation on earth would be allowed to kill so many inno­cents and get away with it. The United States is ratch­et­ing up sanc­tions against Russia for its reuni­fi­ca­tion with Crimea. Of course the Russians believe they can­not annex a region which has been part of Russia his­tor­i­cal­ly, but I digress.

Sources famil­iar with con­ver­sa­tions between Netanyahu and senior U.S. offi­cials, includ­ing Secretary of State John Kerry, say the Israeli leader advised the Obama admin­is­tra­tion “not to ever sec­ond guess me again” on the mat­ter. The offi­cials also said Netanyahu said he should be “trust­ed” on the issue and about the unwill­ing­ness of Hamas to enter into and fol­low through on cease-fire talks.

Well what do you know? Remember those undis­ci­plined chil­dren you last encoun­tered? Those kids who roamed around and caused dis­com­fort and embar­rass­ment to every­one includ­ing you and their par­ents?.…… Ditto !!!

The fact is that Israel has been shel­tered and pro­tect­ed by major west­ern pow­ers, includ­ing the US and England for decades. The state of Israel has been able to cir­cum­vent and abro­gate International Laws with­out con­se­quences while hid­ing behind the afore­men­tioned powers.

Yesterday I talked about Police using exces­sive force and in many cas­es esca­lat­ing minor infrac­tions which ulti­mate­ly leads to a vio­lent arrests. As I indi­cat­ed yesterday

from my expe­ri­ence it is the atti­tude of police offi­cers which large­ly leads

to a con­fronta­tion between police and cit­i­zen. Police offi­cers do not have to turn their backs on small offences. It is impor­tant to pur­sue minor offences, if left unchecked minor offences do lead to larg­er crimes. Police do not need to have their hands tied, they sim­ply have to exer­cise bet­ter judge­ment with the pow­ers they are giv­en. It is impor­tant that cops real­ize the pow­ers they have are giv­en to them by citizens.

New York City’s Mayor Bill De Blasio came to office vow­ing to improve Police com­mu­ni­ty rela­tions. His Police Commissioner William Bratton who served under Rudolph Giuliani, under whose Administration Police pret­ty much did what they want­ed to minori­ties , said :

We will con­tin­ue to aggres­sive­ly pur­sue qual­i­ty of life offens­es. But there could be oth­er ways to han­dle peo­ple accused of such crimes. “If it requires arrest, fine. But if it only requires an admo­ni­tion — ‘Move along, you can’t do that.’ — Well, I want to make sure our offi­cers under­stand that they’re giv­en great pow­ers of discretion”.

Bratton’s com­ments are a good start, though I could have done with­out the word aggres­sive­ly . Not every cop under­stands that aggres­sive­ly going after minor offences

does­n’t nec­es­sar­i­ly mean being aggres­sive with mem­bers of the pub­lic. It’s impor­tant Precinct and shift Commanders under­stands this.

In the past, some Commanders have pres­sured offi­cers to be aggres­sive. Many offi­cers feel the pres­sure and are some­times offend­ed, yet they toe the line. Those who speak out are brand­ed liars and trou­ble makers.

Experience taught me, if some­one offends they will most like­ly respond pos­i­tive­ly to an offi­cer who respect­ful­ly points out the infrac­tion and gives the per­son a warn­ing. Conversely, peo­ple are offend­ed when cops are rude and aggres­sive to them even though they may have com­mit­ted an offence, they do not take kind­ly to being spo­ken down to. If an offi­cer feels abused by an offend­er he tries to give a warn­ing to, then an arrest is in order. Police offi­cers must be remind­ed and should remind them­selves, when some­one offend they offend against the state and not the offi­cer. Adopting that men­tal­i­ty pre­vents offi­cers from per­son­al­iz­ing things . Personalizing what an offend­er does leads to confrontation.

All of this is premised how­ev­er, on the notion that police depart­ments want to elim­i­nate or reduce con­fronta­tion with mem­bers of the pub­lic. From all indi­ca­tions there is no evi­dence in sup­port of that the­o­ry. As I point­ed out yes­ter­day sev­er­al states have actu­al­ly passed new laws allow­ing cops to arrest cit­i­zens who have com­mit­ted no crime except to video­tape police actions against oth­er mem­bers of the pub­lic. It would be laugh­able if it was­n’t so seri­ous that these new laws gives cops the say-so whether some­one can video­tape their actions. Every cit­i­zen plugged in should be ter­ri­fied that their rights are being abro­gat­ed by those they elect to look out for their inter­est. The ques­tion remains as always, “in whose inter­est are these tyran­ni­cal laws being imple­ment­ed”?

The answer may be sim­pler than you think.

As the Palestinian Israeli con­flict rages on, the World goes about it’s busi­ness as usu­al as if noth­ing is hap­pen­ing. After all we have all been down this road before. It will die

down soon­er if not lat­er to an uneasy lull. Objective observers see it quite dif­fer­ent­ly. This issue is far deep­er than the nar­ra­tive fed us through Jewish American owned and con­trolled media entities.

IN THE MEANTIME

Over 800 Palestinians have been slaugh­tered in Gaza by the Zionist state of Israel in recent fight­ing . Less than 50 Israeli’s have died in the conflict.

In response to the wide dis­par­i­ty in the body count between the two fac­tions Ami Ayalon, the for­mer head of Israel’s Shin Bet secu­ri­ty agency said quote:

We do not mea­sure ethics and moral­i­ty by count­ing dead bod­ies. The fact that many more Palestinians than Israelis have died does not mean that our cause, or this war, is not just. Many more Germans than Americans died in World War II. Does that mean that Hitler was right and America was wrong?

There is that moral equiv­a­lence again. America did it so we can too. Israel has used that tact over and over in jus­ti­fy­ing its war crimes against the Palestinian peo­ple for decades. Whether it be WW11 or America’s response to the September 11^th 2001 attacks, Israel has hitched its wag­ons to the moral equiv­a­lence train of America.

This tact is strate­gic for Israel, not just in using America’s mil­i­tary might to fright­en it’s more pow­er­ful ene­mies, but in keep­ing in line, a Democratic American President less than anx­ious to wage war.

Yesterday as I stood in the Departure lounge of a Florida Airport I over­heard on tele­vi­sion that 39 Israelis have been killed since the start of renewed con­flict between the two sides. I asked my wife whether she heard how many Palestinians were killed ? She shook her head no. An elder­ly woman stand­ing close by chimed in “it’s a shame they only report on the Israeli’s as if the oth­er side are not peo­ple too”! I looked at her and smiled, I guessed she saw that what she said encap­su­lat­ed my thoughts result­ing in the ques­tion to my wife. We both watched for a lit­tle while longer then saun­tered off to catch our flights.

Oh by the way I have not heard any­thing from Amnesty International on this wan­ton slaugh­ter, which involves most­ly women chil­dren, and inno­cent families.

Staten Island res­i­dent Eric Garner was laid to rest yes­ter­day . Garner was killed when NYPD Cops placed him in a banned choke hold as they tried to arrest him. The Police alleges Garner was sell­ing un-taxed cig­a­rettes. The father of 6 chil­dren died on the spot from all accounts. Neither the cops who placed him in the choke hold and cuffed him nor the EMT who arrived on scene did any­thing to help Garner.

The Video was shock­ing, a female EMT per­son­nel who arrived on scene felt Garner’s neck for a

pulse and nod­ded in the affir­ma­tive to one of the cops that Garner was still alive. This was clear­ly a lie . Her opin­ion was not sup­port­ed by the video evi­dence. From all indi­ca­tion Eric Garner died as NYPD cops stood by and did nothing.

EMT per­son­nel clear­ly lied to cov­er for cops who knew Garner was dead on scene. Two EMT’s and two Paramedics have since been sus­pend­ed with­out pay in con­nec­tion with this inci­dent. The tech­niques used to hoist mis­ter Garner’s body onto a stretch­er was clear­ly not in con­junc­tion with their own guide­lines. No Oxygen was giv­en to mis­ter Garner , even after they were told he said he could­n’t breathe. The wan­ton killing and abuse of Black men con­tin­ue unabat­ed across America by Police.. Black women are not exempt from the vis­cous testos­terone jack-boot­ed assault, from what now pass­es for Police offi­cers in America. In inci­dent after inci­dent Cops beat peo­ple of col­or mer­ci­less­ly, large­ly with­out con­se­quence. Amnesty International con­tin­ue on it’s path to self imposed irrel­e­vance. Well mean­ing peo­ple the world over now rec­og­nizes that they are for selec­tive Human Rights and cer­tain­ly not about justice.

Despite Hundreds of years of slaugh­ter , first by slavers, then slave own­ers , through Jim Crowe, chain gangs, the KKK and now Police, blacks con­tin­ue to focus large­ly on enter­tain­ment. We have played into the nar­ra­tive that if one wants to hide some­thing from us all they have to do is place it in a book. Even those of us who come from oth­er coun­tries would rather pre­tend that things are fine in America, sav­ing our ven­om for our cops back home.

Things are not fine, many young men of Jamaican par­ents have been abused and killed by Police in these United States. Yet many of us pre­tend that American cops are cour­te­ous respon­si­ble pub­lic servants.

The Rule of law must be respect­ed, with­out it we have no buffer between us and those who would us harm. It is a fright­en­ing irony when those we employ to stand between us and those who would bring harm to us, are the ones doing harm to us.

We must ask our­selves “why is it that Police Officers feel empow­ered to kill a mem­ber of the pub­lic over some mis­de­meanor offense”?

Every per­son run­ning for office in the United States from Presidential can­di­dates to dog-catch­er runs on a law-and-order plat­form. It is so crit­i­cal that a juiced-up-cop wrong­ly harassed and assault­ed an emi­nent Ivy League Professor, wide­spread con­dem­na­tion erupt­ed from many quar­ters includ­ing the President of the United States. In the end the cop gets invit­ed to the White House for a beer summit.

What is it which makes the American cop untouch­able? What gives the American cop the invin­ci­ble, untouch­able persona?

As a for­mer Law Enforcement offi­cial myself, I under­stand the dif­fi­cul­ties of the job. I also under­stand that I am not a God ! Police offi­cers in the United States do not see them­selves as peace offi­cers. In fact watch­ing cops in action in instance after instance, con­vinces me that cops delib­er­ate­ly dis­re­spect some cit­i­zens with the express intent of esca­lat­ing an issue which if dealt with calm­ly and pro­fes­sion­al­ly would sim­ply dissipate.

There are Ivory Tower dwellers who believe that Urban dwellers hate cops and are opposed to the rule of law. Recently one reporter went on an irra­tional rant about young black men after a young cop was killed. The Network had the good sense to dis­ci­pline him. Having been around inner cities all my adult life , I must con­fess there are cer­tain hos­til­i­ties to Law Enforcement. This is true whether you are in New York or Rio, DC or Kingston.

Police Officers must be trained to under­stand these issues and deal with them appro­pri­ate­ly. Most of these hos­til­i­ties come from some involved in crim­i­nal behav­ior. However the Police are not blame­less. Much of the hos­til­i­ties direct­ed at them are of their own mak­ing. This too runs the geo­graph­i­cal gamut. What is true of many Police Departments , hav­ing spo­ken to friends who are Police Officers, is that offi­cers are actu­al­ly encour­aged to have acri­mo­nious rela­tion­ships with minor­i­ty communities.

What’s shock­ing is that some Department heads actu­al­ly encour­age offi­cers to be cold and dis­re­spect­ful to even law abid­ing mem­bers of minor­i­ty com­mu­ni­ties. Let’s not kid our­selves, when large quan­ti­ties of black and brown men are locked away in the prison indus­tri­al com­plex, America’s race prob­lems are half solved. Prisons are big busi­ness­es , many are run by pri­vate sec­tor com­pa­nies which kick back huge sums of cash to the polit­i­cal cam­paigns of those dogs bark­ing the loud­est on the law and order issue.

You do see how this cycle is per­pet­u­at­ed? Cops and their Unions know this. So the cen­tral ques­tion then becomes,“who will bell the cat”? The sim­ple answer is no one! This is an issue so tox­ic and explo­sive , even the White House will not get involved in a local mat­ter involv­ing Police Departments. At least not a White House where the occu­pant is a black President.

Forty three year old Staten Island res­i­dent Eric Garner was killed by NYPD cops who placed him in a choke-hold, sup­pos­ed­ly to arrest him for sell­ing un-taxed cig­a­rettes. The police claimed Garner was pre­vi­ous­ly arrest­ed for doing the same thing. 

UN-TAXED CIGARETTES

Whether or not he was arrest­ed before for sell­ing cig­a­rettes, why was it nec­es­sary to place him in a choke hold to effect an arrest? They knew him, why was a tick­et not appro­pri­ate? The offence was not a felony! In fact from some accounts, no offense was even committed.

Why are these tat­tooed Black-water-type mer­ce­nar­ies being allowed to inter­act with the black com­mu­ni­ty? I don’t see any cops look­ing like this in some oth­er com­mu­ni­ties. Look it is impor­tant that if you are told you are under arrest that you sub­mit to being arrest­ed. But is it nec­es­sary to pile onto some­one press­ing his head into the pave­ment for sell­ing un-taxed cig­a­rettes? These are the ques­tions we must ask! Or is the arrest jus­ti­fied , irre­spec­tive of the cost, even at the cost of a life lost? Are these Pyrrhic arrests that impor­tant to the States and Municipalities?

It is a trag­ic irony when death becomes the penal­ty for a minor infrac­tion. When absolute com­pli­ance with the law becomes so fun­da­men­tal a shack­le that it mat­ters not whether you live or die. It is tyran­ny when the State becomes the great­est enti­ty of fear, it is time to be very fearful.

Even as the United States takes it onto itself to dic­tate to oth­er Nations about Human Rights. Cops in city after American city con­tin­ue to kill unarmed black and his­pan­ic men with­out penalty.

Cops in the United States kill peo­ple with a fright­en­ing fre­quen­cy, yet inci­dent after inci­dent gets washed away under the pre­text that the sys­tem is trust­wor­thy and these killings are prop­er­ly inves­ti­gat­ed and jus­tice is served.

Well guess what? Justice is not being served when Grand Juries are con­vened in pri­vate with no input from the pub­lic , and cops are exon­er­at­ed as a mat­ter of course.

Instances of Police Thuggery con­tin­ue unabat­ed, Black man killed by cops, bystanders take a few pic­tures, record a few min­utes of video, peo­ple are enraged, they wash away the blood, it’s back to busi­ness as usu­al. We are told that the mat­ter is being inves­ti­gat­ed, but what real­ly hap­pens is that the cops are giv­en a pat on the back for a job well done, sent home with full pay for a few weeks until those milling around are qui­et­ed down and the cycle continues.

A 400-pound asth­mat­ic Staten Island dad died Thursday after a cop put him in a choke-hold and oth­er offi­cers appeared to slam his head against the side­walk, video of the inci­dent shows. “I can’t breathe! I can’t breathe!” Eric Garner, 43, repeat­ed­ly screamed after at least five NYPD offi­cers took him down in front of a Tompkinsville beau­ty sup­ply store when he balked at being hand­cuffed. Within moments Garner, a mar­ried father of six chil­dren with two grand­chil­dren, stopped strug­gling and appeared to be uncon­scious as police called para­medics to the scene. An angry crowd gath­ered, some record­ing with smart­phones. “When I kissed my hus­band this morn­ing, I nev­er thought it would be for the last time,” Garner’s wife, Esaw, told the Daily News. This was an inci­dent where cops need­ed to walk away. These cops seem to have a God Complex . This man was clear­ly doing noth­ing wrong, all they had to do is leave, they did not they chose to kill this man for no reason.

The rea­son they do these things is because there are no con­se­quences for their actions. The black com­mu­ni­ty will have to make a tac­ti­cal deci­sion whether it wants to con­tin­ue to be a com­mu­ni­ty of casu­al­ties or a com­mu­ni­ty which will send these mur­der­ing punks clear and unequiv­o­cal mes­sages that you will not kill our peo­ple and walk away . There were no short­age of super­vi­so­ry offi­cers on scene. The woman with arms akim­bo is a super­vi­sor . She could have stepped in and stopped the gang behav­ior, she did not. This is par for the course, these thugs have no regard for the black com­mu­ni­ty. Yet they will nev­er face up to a black man, man-to-man. This is not Police work these are crim­i­nals in uniform.

It’s “on again” in the “on again, off again” cycle of vio­lence between the Palestinian peo­ple and the State of Israel. 

Western observers to this con­tin­ued cycle of vio­lence have been schooled into believ­ing that Palestinians are vio­lent ter­ror­ists who strap bombs to them­selves to blow up peace lov­ing Israelis who just want to live their lives in peace and har­mo­ny with their Palestinian broth­ers and sisters.

The air­waves of tra­di­tion­al Media bom­bard us dai­ly with pleas and pro­pa­gan­da, extolling the virtues of Israel, while vis­cer­al­ly paint­ing the Palestinians as bar­bar­ic terrorists..

There are year round appeals for mon­ey for the Jewish peo­ple,. Entire net­works are ded­i­cat­ed to replay­ing over and over,the hor­rors the Nazi’s vis­it­ed on Jews. Churches use the Bible to preach that God will deliv­er the evil Arabs into the hands of his peo­ple the Jews.

Not to be out­done the American Federal Government pours approx­i­mate­ly 3 Billion dol­lars of our tax dol­lars into the diminu­tive Zionist State annu­al­ly. Politicians run­ning for office dare not crit­i­cize Israel for fear of being brand­ed anti Semitic. Many Western observers are unable to sep­a­rate what hap­pened that September morn­ing in the United States from the vio­lent and uncon­scionable mil­i­tary oppres­sion Israel impos­es on Palestine. No one is more adept at exploit­ing that psy­cho­log­i­cal dis­con­nect than Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister.

Fighting back against Israel’s aggres­sive Apartheid poli­cies brings swift over­whelm­ing pun­ish­ment, incon­sis­tent with what Israel refers to as Palestinian provo­ca­tion. Never mind that Israeli has occu­pied Palestine since 1948. The peo­ple with crude rock­ets, sticks and stones are ter­ror­ists. Those hold­ing the pow­er , made pos­si­ble by the most sophis­ti­cat­ed weapon­ry on the plan­et and pow­er­ful friends, are seen as victims.

Of course the rea­sons for the col­lec­tive pun­ish­ment fed to the world is that Israel’s right to exist is being threat­ened by Terrorist Palestinians ded­i­cat­ed to the destruc­tion of the State of Israel. No one both­ers to men­tion that at best, Palestinians are equipped with crude Rockets with no guid­ance sys­tems, which ren­ders the effect from them more phys­i­o­log­i­cal than phys­i­cal. By Israel’s own account Palestinian Rockets large­ly land harm­less­ly in Israeli fields caus­ing no casu­al­ty. Israel main­tains tac­ti­cal war­fare against Palestinians who dare to chal­lenge them, using sniper fire to mur­der Palestinians they label ter­ror­ists. Similar Palestinian actions against IDF sol­diers is sold as a ter­ror­ist act.

In essence what the Zionist state is telling the world is that the occu­pied Palestinians have no right to self defense or self deter­mi­na­tion. The issue of Palestinian Rockets being fired at Israel is a legit­i­mate issue. No one wants to live under the threat of being anni­hi­lat­ed by explod­ing Rockets. On the oth­er hand the Palestinian peo­ple have a right to live out­side the boot-heels of Israeli occu­pa­tion. The issue is far more com­plex than explod­ing rock­ets and occu­pa­tion how­ev­er. The state of Israel did not just hap­pen as it is in dis­put­ed ter­ri­to­ry until the United States and Britain saw it pru­dent to place it there in 1948.

Western opin­ion now fol­lows the ludi­crous assump­tion that mean­ing­ful Israel-Palestine nego­ti­a­tions can be seri­ous­ly con­duct­ed under the aus­pices of the United States – not an “hon­est bro­ker,” but in real­i­ty a part­ner of Israel. — 

In 1948 the State Department, the Defense Department and the CIA regard­ed such an out­come with open con­cern. Opposing this view was President Truman’s spe­cial legal coun­sel, Clark Clifford and his small entourage of sup­port­ers, who strong­ly endorsed US recog­ni­tion of Israel’s inde­pen­dence as in line with US inter­ests. Simply put ‚It’s about oil and oth­er strate­gic inter­est. Yesterday we came out against the call from the usu­al quar­ters in Jamaica. Those who feel the next Police Commissioner should come from a pool which includes for­eign Nationals. Some of these quar­ters are the reg­u­lar Elites who shape and mis­in­form in our Country . They include the Editorial page of the GLEANER and the so called big-men in soci­ety, you know them .

I want­ed to know which Country sources it’s Security Heads from non cit­i­zens. I have not seen one response , nei­ther in these Blogs nor from Social Media. So I assume that issue is settled.

THEIR ARGUMENT

We live in a Global mar­ket­place where the shar­ing of ideas and tal­ents are inte­gral to growth and development.

MY RESPONSE

Yes, but there must be lim­its on what we out­source. That is why it was not a bad idea to bring in new ideas to help upgrade our Investigative capa­bil­i­ties. That is why it was not a bad idea to bring peo­ple in to help with tack­ling cor­rup­tion. It just is a colos­sal ret­ro­grade step to out­source the head of National Security.

For the media Elites at the Gleaner and in civ­il soci­ety who are push­ing this angle, Let’s not stop there, let’s get rid of Portia and bring in a for­eign­er, let’s start at the very top .

It is time that Jamaicans wake up remove their heads from wher­ev­er they have their heads , and rec­og­nize their future is theirs. Why allow a few peo­ple from uptown to dic­tate what you should do. Frankly I could­n’t care less about either of the can­di­dates in wait­ing . What I care about is giv­ing up sen­si­tive posts to peo­ple who have no inter­est , or loy­al­ty to our coun­try. I mean think about it, it is absolute madness!

Hobbs was effu­sive with his praise of the Jamaican Officers, Quote. The British police, could do with senior offi­cers of the cal­i­bre of both Ellington and Hinds. “British police morale has nev­er been low­er and indeed we could do with senior offi­cers of the cal­i­bre of Mr Ellington and Mr Hinds in the UK. Take care if con­sid­er­ing fur­ther appoint­ments from the UK,”.

It has been a long time since Slavery was abol­ished. It has been decades since we sup­pos­ed­ly gained Independence from England. I pre­fer to think of it as when we were uncer­e­mo­ni­ous­ly dumped by a dis­in­te­grat­ing power.

The notion that things for­eign are bet­ter is still a shack­le, not on our feet but in our minds. Jamaica can­not progress when it’s lead­ers are still shack­led to regres­sive ideas about the abil­i­ties of it’s own peo­ple. No one will build Jamaica but Jamaicans. There is noth­ing wrong with look­ing at what oth­ers do to see if we can use some things. We can­not give our coun­try away to for­eign­ers and expect to still have it.

Chief among the spec­u­la­tion regard­ing Owen Ellington’s depar­ture is.

1) The Americans took his Visa because of associations.

2) That Ellington fell out of favor with Portia. Imagine that.

3) The Americans want­ed Ellington gone because of nag­ging ques­tions of Human Rights abuse and the Americans are unwill­ing to sell arms and ammu­ni­tion to Jamaica as a result.

Let’s jux­ta­pose the lat­ter with the new call from cer­tain quar­ters in civ­il soci­ety and the Media , chiefly The Gleaner’s Editorial page to look over­seas for a Commissioner.

First lets put things in con­text. America has no moral author­i­ty to lec­ture any Country about Human Rights. Every day black and brown peo­ple are killed and abused by law enforce­ment offi­cers all across America with­out a whis­per from the Federal Government.

Now it would be a major irony if the Americans called for Ellington’s head when it was they who called for the extra­di­tion of Christopher Dudus Coke.

If the Americans believed that it was easy to get Coke, sure­ly they could have vol­un­teered to go get him them­selves. They were far bet­ter equipped to remove him with min­i­mum col­lat­er­al dam­age. Yes col­lat­er­al dam­age , it was a war.

How then could they demand the Commissioner’s head for doing exact­ly what they wanted?

Lets give cre­dence to the nar­ra­tive that it was nag­ging Human Rights alle­ga­tions which pre­cip­i­tat­ed Jamaica’s inter­na­tion­al Partners (America & England) alleged demand for Ellington’s head. How could that demand be legit­i­mate in light of Ellington“s body of work in root­ing out cor­rup­tion and abuse from the JCF? Experts and non-experts alike will argue Owen Ellington has been the best Commissioner of Police in mod­ern times.

If this is cor­rect, both Ellington and the coun­try has Carolyn Gomes to thank for the defam­ing of our Countrty. This in addi­tion to cor­rupt­ing young peo­ple with counter-cul­ture teach­ings and lit­er­a­ture, which were once alien to our Nation.

If there is truth to the alle­ga­tions America and Britain had some­thing to do with Ellington’s depar­ture, then the push by some in soci­ety to get a Commissioner from over­seas plays direct­ly into the plans Carolyn Gomes and Susan Goffe laid, using a gullible and naïve Ellington in the process toward remov­ing Police pow­ers from Jamaicans.

We did warn about this for a long time.

We did ask what did these for­eign Governments want for the mon­ey they gave to Gomes?

We did ask for account­abil­i­ty. We did warn that once the Police were demor­al­ized they would bring in for­eign cops. They have, and they want to bring in a cop to head the Department.

I did warn they would do these things in these very blogs. The Homosexual Agenda demands total acqui­es­cence and capit­u­la­tion of our cul­ture. There has been numer­ous alle­ga­tions that Jamaican cops are not help­ful to gays. Commissioner Ellington grant­ed a per­mit for the Churches to ral­ly against a Gay Jamaican counter-cul­ture. A few days lat­er he was gone, now they want for­eign­ers to head our Police Force.

Failing to con­nect the dots will com­plete­ly over­whelm our culture.

Christopher Zacca President of The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica argues that to build our Country , peo­ple should buy Jamaican. He then does a 180 degree turn dip­ping his snout into the Conversation about the need for a new Commissioner of Police , sug­gest­ing that it is per­fect­ly kosher to look for a new Police Chief from overseas. 

The police Force has many edu­cat­ed well capa­ble offi­cers at all lev­els . These peo­ple have worked tire­less­ly to earn their edu­ca­tion with the belief that if they earn their degrees play by the rules they have a shot at accom­plish­ing their goals.

The last time the JCF tried this mad­ness the results are still being felt. Morale is impor­tant , if this lit­tle Country want to total­ly wreck the rule of law , pick a Commissioner from over­seas and live with the results. It’s time Jamaica stop with the NEGRO men­tal­i­ty . What oth­er Country out­sources it’s National Security to non cit­i­zens? What these Elitists are say­ing is that black Jamaicans are inca­pable of get­ting the job done. What exact­ly did Mark Shields etal accom­plish except his flair for the cock­tail cir­cuit? The Gleaner depict­ed Zacca’s hypocrisy appro­pri­ate­ly in a cartoon.

It goes to show that in Jamaica every­one knows how to do every­one else’s job but their own. I don’t see any­one run­ning back to Jamaica to invest. Maybe Zacca and the Country would be bet­ter served if he paid atten­tion to what he was hired to do leav­ing the Commissioner search to the peo­ple tasked with doing so.
