KINGSTON, Jamaica — One police officer has been confirmed dead by the Corporate Communications Unit.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the police officer was injured in an attack by gunmen on Wellington Street in downtown Kingston, a short while ago. The police officer was reportedly among a team of lawmen patrolling the area when they were attacked. He was pronounced dead at hospital. This officer’s death comes days after a woman constable was killed while travelling on a bus along Spanish Town Road.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will take vacation leave between Tuesday and Friday, and will return to office on Saturday. While the prime minister is out of office, Robert Pickersgill, minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change will oversee the Government. Meanwhile, National Security Minister Peter Bunting is currently in Washington DC in the United States for a series of meetings at the Department of Homeland Security. Phillip Paulwell, minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining is overseeing the National Security portfolio while Bunting is away on Government business.
